LUNA TROUBLES

LEXI’S POV

Sophia stepped into the room with a frown.

“Miss you?” she scoffed, looking down at me. “You are nothing but an irritating bug that refuses to die. I am only concerned about why you are back in my son’s life again.”

“Why?” I asked with a smile. “Are you worried that he will fall in love with me again and make me his Luna?”

Sophia laughed at my words. “Fall in love with you? Make you his Luna? Are you that confident or just plain stupid?”

“Manny can never make you his Luna again, the only reason you are still alive is because you had the sense to bring his son back to him,” she spat at me as I stood up to face her. “You are nothing to him.”

Now it was my turn to laugh, “It is crazy that you think that I am back here for Manny, I came here for my son so why should I care if I am anything to him?”

Sophia stared at me with her eyes narrowed suspiciously. “You have changed.”

“Why do you say so?” I asked, folding my arms. “Is it because I am no longer that gullible girl that you used to be able to manipulate?’

“Wow, the worm has really grown wings,”Sophia replied, shifting closer to me.

“You don’t scare me Sophia,” I said calmly.

Back when I lived here with Manny, I used to be naive and weak, now I had literally faced death and won, I had raised my son and built a company on my own. A woman like Sophia couldn’t intimidate me.

“You should be scared Lexi,” Sophia whispered, her voice deathly calm. “Don’t allow yourself to forget just what I am capable of and now, you don’t just have yourself to worry about.” Her eyes drifted down to Dexter who sighed in his sleep.

Did she just threaten my son?

Sophia headed out the door before I could reply, leaving me in a sense of unease.

I didn’t just have to deal with Manny or Wayne’s hatred for me, I had to also think of Sophia and how to keep her from hurting my children.

I stood in the shower, allowing hot water to fall on my skin like a baptism. I had spent the entire day running through the forest and dealing with Manny, so this shower was very therapeutic.

The water was rinsing the soap off my body when I heard it.

The creak of a door and then low voices.

Panic seized me as I realized someone was in my room.

Turning off the shower. I grabbed my towel quickly, rushing out with Sophia's threat ringing in my head: you don’t just have yourself to worry about.

Had she come back? Had she snuck in to hurt Dexter?

I flung open the bathroom door, breath caught in my throat, only to freeze at the sight of Wayne.

Relief hit me like a wave.

He stood by the bed, gazing down at Dexter with a curious expression.

“Wayne,” I sighed, stepping closer to him. “You must really care for your brother.”

Wayne looked up at me with an annoyed expression, stepping away from the bed. “I don’t care for him, I don’t even care for you. I hate you!!!”

Then he turned and ran away, leaving me more disappointed than angry. How was I supposed to make him warm up to me after what I did?

“...mom?” Dexter suddenly croaked and I looked down to find his eyes wide open. He was fully awake again.

“Dex,” I replied in relief of seeing my child looking alive again. “How do you feel? Are you okay?”

“I am okay mommy,” Dexter replied with a soft smile. “I just had a strange dream. Where is Jax and Nia?”

Tears warmed my eyes at the mention of Jax. “They are not here with us now but all that matters is that you are fine.”

“Where did they go?” Dexter asked, sounding worried. “And why does the room look so different, where are we, mum?”

“We are in Mommy’s Old Pack,” I explained, running a hand through his hair. “You were placed under a spell so I had to bring you back here to meet your brother and father.”

“Brother? And Father?” Dexter echoed, staring at me in disbelief. “I have a brother and father?”

“Yes my love,” I nodded at him. “Your father is alive and you have a twin brother.”

“But you said that my father was dead!” Dexter said, his eyes narrowing like he felt betrayed. “And why have I never seen my twin brother before?”

“Years ago, your father broke our bond and so I decided to run away with you, but I wasn't able to take your brother along with me,” I explained.

“Is my daddy a bad person?” Dexter asked softly.

I thought of Manny, the anger and hurt that I felt for him all those years ago hadn't disappeared yet.

But he had helped me save Dexter and he still hadn't thrown me in a dungeon, so I supposed he wasn't that bad.

“Your father isn't a bad person, mommy was just angry, that is why she had to run away,” I explained to him softly.

Dexter turned to the door, “About my twin brother, where is he now?”

“He just went out, but you will see him soon, all you have to do is rest and get better okay?”

Dexter nodded at me, staying silent.

I stood up from his side and walked back into the bathroom to change my clothes. Dexter was staring into space as I sat beside him.

“Mommy, why didn't you tell me about the old pack and my father all this while?” he asked suddenly and I turned to him.

“You said I shouldn't lie to you, but you lied to me, mom.”

Dexter's words touched my soul.

“I am so sorry my love,” I replied, pulling him into a hug. “Mommy didn't want to tell you because she never thought she would be back here again.”

“it's okay mum,” Dexter sighed, rubbing my arm. “Just don't lie to me again.”

I nodded immediately, rubbing his hair. “Of course Dex,”

Suddenly, he looked up at me.“Now that we are in your old pack, are we ever going to see Jax and Nia again?”

“Of course, my love,” I lied again, when the truth was I didn’t know the answer to give him.

“I can’t wait, Jax and Nia would be so excited when I tell them that I have a twin brother, won’t they?” he asked with a smile

“Yes they will,” I lied, looking out the window as I spoke. I hated lying to him after the promise I just made but I had no choice.

Dexter wanted to go back but I couldn’t leave Wayne behind again and I knew that Manny would never let me escape from here.

The future was uncertain for us and I didn’t like it.

I stepped into the hallway, hoping to get some fresh air,  when two maids passed by, whispering in excitement.

“Did you hear?” One of them asked. “He’s finally choosing a new Luna.”

I paused in shock. Did I hear that right?

“Wow, it’s about time. Maybe this one would be less of a scandal than the last one,” the other maid replied.

“Let’s hope so, if the next Luna jumps off a cliff I would have to believe that our Alpha is cursed,” the first maid replied and they both giggled as they left.

A new Luna?

Was Manny choosing someone else?

BIRDS OF A FEATHERLEXI’S POVClara gave me a look over, not even seeming shocked to see me. “I heard you were back, I didn’t think you still exhibited these rogue qualities,” she replied spitefully, standing up to face me.The last time I saw Clara was eleven years ago, after my marriage to Manny, so seeing her back here again made me uneasy. I thought she was living in another pack, why was she back and seemingly so close to my son? “I asked you a question,” I said, stepping into the room, feeling my voice shake with barely restrained anger. “What the hell do you think you are doing with my son? Wayne stared up at me, clearly startled by my sudden outburst.Clara walked closer to me, not even regarding me as a threat.“What does it look like?” she asked, raising an arm as Wayne came to lean on her side. “I am spending time with Wayne, is that a crime now?”My eyes narrowed suspiciously as I regarded her. She had probably joined Sophia to poison my son's mind against me and I did

THE INTRUDERLEXI’S POVI laid beside Dexter, unable to fall asleep. I had just made my stay in Manny’s house worse. He had expected me to run away again and I had played right into his hands. How was I going to escape this pack now?The next morning, the guards were still stationed outside my door, standing stoically like statutes.“Aren’t you guys going to go for breakfast or something,” I teased slightly. Trying to hide my irritation at seeing them again.“No Ma’am,” The first guard replied quickly. “We have shifts, so even if we leave we would be immediately replaced.”“Hmm…” I murmured, giving him a sour look. “..I see.”“Oh wow,” Sophia’s voice suddenly called out.I turned to find her walking towards my room with an amused smile on her face.“I am very glad to see Manny is finally threating you like what you are, a prisoner.”“Why are you so glad?” I retorted immediately. “If he is keeping me here that only means that you would have to see my face for longer.”The smile on Sop

CAGED WINGSLEXI’S POVI watched Sophia caress Wayne’s head with a sinking feeling in my chest.I hated it.Every second of it. Watching the satisfied smirk on her face at seeing my crest fallen expression.I just wanted to wipe that smirk off, but I couldn’t, because for the first time I realized how deep her claws were in Wayne. She had probably been manipulating him to hate me since I left. No wonder he hated me so much. What was I going to say to him that could change his mind now? Glaring at her, I turned and walked back into the room, banging the door shut.Dexter was sitting up, with a small smile on his face. “I am so happy I have a twin brother mom,” he said. “Wayne is so cool, I can’t wait for Jax and Nia to meet him.”The mention of Wayne made me frown. I should have never come back here. I should have figured out a way to destroy the hex without having Dexter and Wayne meet.Wayne would never want to leave this pack now, not with his bond with his father and how much S

WHISPERS AND CLAWSLEXI'S POVI paused by the door, not wanting to believe what I had just heard.Manny was getting a new Luna? I scoffed. That man was capable of anything, he had betrayed me when I least expected it, so the thought of him getting a new Luna only made me feel sorry for whoever the poor woman was going to be.At the same time, it made me panic. What did this mean for me now?Was he really going to go through with parading me before the pack before throwing me to the dungeons? What was going to happen to Dexter and Wayne? Would I be allowed to remain here as their mother? What in the world was the future going to bring for me this time? I wondered, leaning against the wall.As I walked back into my room, there was only one major thought in my head.Whatever the future brought, I was going to protect my sons and survive it.I woke up the next morning, with a knock from the door pulling me from my thoughts.I opened the door only to find Manny standing in front of me wit

MOTHER OF THE YEARLEXI’S POVManny stared at me in shock. “A hex?” he echoed in disbelief. “Yes,” I sighed as the guards let go of meHe looked from Dexter’s unconscious body to my tear stained face and then sighed. “What do we need to do to save him?”“All I know is that Dexter has to meet his twin as soon as possible or we will lose him forever,” I explained.Manny gave me an unreadable expression before he relented. “Come with me then,” he said, turning away and I ran after him.He took us to a bedroom, placing Dexter softly on the bed before he turned back to face me.“You were gone for all these years, taking my son with you and now you are bringing him back half dead to me,” Manny hissed in anger. “I swear if anything happens to him I am going to—”“I don’t have to argue with you Manny, send for his twin brother,” I replied, feeling a surge of panic. We had wasted enough time as it was.Frowning, Manny turned to the guards behind us. “Go and get Wayne from his room.”My heart
