The pain never ends...

I woke to a warm, wet touch and rubbed my eyes to find my mom leaning over me. Her gray strands fell over my face, and she pulled my cheek playfully.

Something in her eyes had been lost after the months without my father. But that day was worse. Her age was more visible than usual, and the bags under her eyes seemed to have become permanent.

Mamma, they made you work overnight again? It’s the third night, and you’re not getting any sleep.” I sat straight on my bed.

The other maid was sick, and there were piles of clothes to be washed. I’m fine, though. Don’t worry.” My kind mother would do anything for others and bear the pain to help someone in need.

Please get some sleep before they call you again.” I touched her shoulder.

I can’t. I need to arrange the tables because there was a pack meeting yesterday, and the chambers need cleaning.” She tied her hair into a bun and tried, unsuccessfully, to straighten the creases on her dress. They stubbornly remained as though mocking both of us.

I wished I could stop her, but the punishment for not finishing given duties would be worse, so I stared at her back until she vanished from my sight. Frustrated, I groaned before getting out of bed. I fixed the pillow and blanket. The rusted iron bucket next to my bed held water, so I cleaned my face and brushed my teeth.

After braiding my long hair, I checked the cupboard. They never gave us lunch—if they could starve us completely, they would—so I hoped to find something. Luckily, I came across a tasty packet of cookies. I enjoyed them while sitting on the corner of my mattress.

As I was washing crumbs from my hands afterward, quick footsteps approached. Despite not being permitted to interact with us, one of the maids rushed into the cabin. For a second, her eyes wandered over the small room, then shifted to me.

Astrid—your mom—she fainted in the chamber,” she said, sounding flustered. Then she ducked back out so as not to be seen.

My mother? She fainted? The floor seemed to slip from beneath my feet. The room spun around me. My whole body became numb as I stood frozen, staring through a fog of desperation. A sour memory formed in the pit of my stomach as I recalled losing my father.

I wasn’t going to lose her too. I dashed out of the cabin, leaving the door open.

My mind raced, swarming with nightmare scenarios of living without my mother’s protection. I crossed the path to the chamber in a haze. After a brief search, I found her trying to get to her feet, surrounded by other maids who had no choice but to ignore her for the sake of their own wellbeing.

I hurried to her and helped her stand. She trembled, her weakened state making me choke back tears.

Don’t cry, sweetie. I’m fine.”

I couldn’t help it. The tears came and wouldn’t stop. I looked away, not wanting her to see my pain, not wanting to see her in such a weakened state. The other maids departed, maybe to give us privacy, or maybe because they didn’t want to be involved.

Mamma. Let’s go to the room. I will do everything. You need rest.” I held her hands tightly in mine.

But—”

No. If something happens to you, I will end my life.”

Her eyes grew wide, and she hugged me as I sobbed. Oh, Astrid. Don’t say that. I’ll go get some rest. Please manage the chamber here.” She wiped my wet cheeks with the sleeve of her dress.

Mother left, and I got to work, sweeping the floor. Then it was lunchtime for the royals, and I had to arrange the table.

Take this fruit salad with you,” the old maid said from the kitchen.

I carefully balanced the salad tray in one hand and carried a jug of water in the other. At the dining table, Princess Amaira and her mother, Luna Caroline, chatted together in low voices. Princess hated me, and that filled me with icy panic as I approached. But they were in such deep conversation that Princess didn’t even glance my way.

“I am so excited,” Princess said. “The great Alpha, Dominic Knight of the Blood Moon pack, is going to attend the annual ceremony of the Northwest packs. I’ve heard that he’s expanded his empire on his own and now rules over fifty packs in the tropical area. Nobody dares to speak against him. He has dominance over everyone… And I also heard he’s a bachelor!” Princess Amaira beamed with happiness as I hurriedly placed the tray and jug on the table, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Oh, that’s wonderful,” her mother said with bright eyes. It’s your chance to be his luna. You’ll have to make him go crazy over your charm and looks. Then my daughter will be the queen of the greatest empire.” Luna Caroline clapped her hands excitedly.

I will definitely. Rumors say he’s the most handsome alpha to be born in this era, though I’ve heard he’s a bit cold and dangerous to approach. Still, the girls are after him. But he hasn’t chosen anyone, and—well, who’s more beautiful than me?”

I kept my expression neutral, though I made the mistake of looking up. Our eyes met and her smile faded.

She rose from her chair. You ugly, idiot slave! How dare you? Where is your mask?” She walked toward me, her hand clenched into a fist.

  • Alpha's Treasure mate- His luna is an omega   Aeryn's Wolf(The End)

Aeryn's POV:I had been running for half an hour by now and yet the woods seemed never ending. Leaving Dante in that critical condition and his life at danger had been the most difficult decision of my life. I would never let anything happen to him even if it meant for me to die in his place. He was wronged as a child and an adult by everyone around him. He deserved happiness and now when he wanted to ask for forgiveness from father and Kai was with those traitors, I knew they would be ready to accept Dante as my mate. With more determination and motivation, I didn't stop even when my legs started to hurt. But I promised myself that nothing could stop me before I reached pack. It was just another twenty minutes until I would be crossing the pack borders. A series of angry howls roared behind me and I froze in my steps scared of the truth that the rogues had gotten to me first before I could go to the pack. I turned behind to see the leader Rogue running after me with an army of aro

  • Alpha's Treasure mate- His luna is an omega   The Harsh Truth

Dante's POV:Azriel had felt her presence in the woods as shown as she had stepped her feet in there. I could also feel her pain and I had hurriedly gone to search her only to find her in chains. Even though, I should have hated her for accepting Kai as her mate, I didn't like how she was crying from the pain and Alpha Grayson and was hitting her. "Keep your mouth shut! He isn't your mate anymore. We need know that you are going to fu*k Kai sooner than later. " Alpha Grayson spat angrily. I felt my fists clenching at his words, "What are you exactly doing here, Aeryn? Is it a trap? "She shook her head, " No, Dante. I will never betray you. I want to tell you that this war is not needed because we can stop it. I love you and I am never going to be with another man. "Her words sent a soothing feeling to my heart. I was happy that she chose to be here with me and had the guts to run away from her parents and come here among so much dangers. "Do you think you can go against your pare

  • Alpha's Treasure mate- His luna is an omega   Wrong Move, Wrong Time...

Aeryn's POV :I was still shaking from anger after my parents and brothers left me in my room again. I had to fight against the injustice of them making me have another mate. Dante wasn't aware of his father's reality and his mother's suicide reason. If he would know, then I was sure he wouldn't be initiating a war against anyone. As a mate, I had to take the first step. I quietly made my way out of my room and ran to the corridor leading to Dante's chamber. It was extremely quiet there and I couldn't find anyone. Confusion dawned me and I went to the training ground to find him but he wasn't there either. The palace looked in a hurry, almost running guards everywhere around me. The environment didn't feel right. The air didn't seem comfortable. "What are you doing here? " I heard Alpha Kai behind me. I didn't like him around me for some reason because even though he knew that I had a made he was ready to be with me without any shame. "Nothing. Just looking for... " I hesitated.

  • Alpha's Treasure mate- His luna is an omega   Announcement of the War for Mate

Alpha Dante's POV :F*ck! F*ck this pack! Aeryn was with Kai, he was holding her hand, he was walking her around, he had been all over her and Dominic was happy with the stupid arrangement. I was sure there was something going on between Kai and Dominic. He had suddenly appointed him as the border controller for his pack and also was given high status in the training for young wolves. "Maybe he wants Aeryn to be with Kai. " Azriel hissed. I smashed the vase into pieces and crushed it with my boots. No way in hell was going to let any man take her from me. She was my mate, carrying my Mark and had promised me a child. And even after that, I was going to keep her with me. She wasn't related to Dominic and Astrid's crimes. They had even lost her when she was babu, indicating they never cared for their only daughter and instead adopted a dumb human girl to take her place. They were power hungry and could go to any limits to secure their pack and throne. Even if it meant, making Aeryn

  • Alpha's Treasure mate- His luna is an omega   Final Decision

Aeryn's POV :I ran back to my room and locked the door behind me so that I didn't have to talk to anyone including my parents. I was Furious and sad to know that my own parents had decided to give me off to another man as if I was an object. They were blinded by power and rank of Alpha Kai. I should have known that being a princess meant to keep the family ties high by marrying into another powerful Clan. I was the most worthless girl in the whole Kingdom as compared to even the normal females in the Pack because of the reason that I didn't have my wolf yet. I heard a knock on the door and knew that it was mom but I was not going to talk to her until and unless she was ready to listen to me. But to my shock, I heard the lock turning in the door and both of my parents walked in with a key in their hands. Mom must have been crying because I could see her eyes were puffy and even my father was sad. They sat beside me on the bed and I turned my head to look away from them. Still, I fe

  • Alpha's Treasure mate- His luna is an omega   Another Shocking Revelation

Aeryn's POV :I felt disheartened by the sight of my mate who was not trying to understand my condition and was in the wrong this whole time. Only if I could tell him about how much he was missing by being angry towards me and my family then we would have been together by now and fighting everyone else. I was going to be loyal to my blood even though I knew that the bond was supposed to be stronger than anything else. I forgot that Alpha Kai had been waiting for me after he left and he might have noticed the weird exchange we both had. "Coffee? " He offered as we sat together. I didn't want to be sitting there in the public with a fake smile plastered on my face but I couldn't just run away from everything because I was not feeling well. My dad was gone too after he checked that I was safe with Alpha Kai. if my parents at trusted this man then I was not at any risk from him. "Are you okay? You don't look comfortable enough. " He asked. I sipped my coffee, " It's nothing serious.
