Tania

Five years later

Liam pov

Listening to the old folks blabber about the same thing for hours, I was getting irritated with each passing second.

“ I understand your concerns, do you think I am not worried about our people?” I retorted, glaring at the man. I can't believe they have the nerves to question my concern towards my own pack. Not after everything I did to make the land what it is today.

“ No Alpha, as much as you say you are concerned about the outbreak plaguing our people, you seem reluctant to take the appropriate measures.” Another elder accused me, making me slam my palm on the table so hard that it broke into two.

“ How dare you? Are you insinuating that I am sitting down doing nothing as I watch the people die?” I asked, my anger rising and I had to control myself not to snap his neck.

“ What else should we call your reluctance to invite the miracle doctor to the pack? She is known to cure all kinds of illnesses. She is the only one who can save us.” Ramiel challenged and I had to applaud him for poking my sore wounds repeatedly.

The last time I asked my beta Marcus to invite that so-called miracle doctor to the pack, she didn't even let him into her clinic let alone listen to our proposal.

She is arrogant and that's not something I can put up with. I don't believe she is the only one to save our people but the council thinks otherwise.

“ She turned us down, how many times do I have to repeat myself?” I snarled.

“ She was bound to turn you down because you weren't sincere. Sending your Beta to force her here, do you think she would agree? She is the most reputable doctor in the city. She earned her place by working her way up in the last five years of course she needs to be accorded the respect she deserves.” Another elder chimed in. Respect my ass. I am an Alpha, my word is law. If she knows better, she should have come crawling when I requested her presence. Now, I have to listen to these old geezers bubbling about her?

Listening to them, it was clear to me that they were hell bent on making me humiliate myself in front of a woman. I also knew that I could not continue to be stubborn, not when we were in this situation. But that doesn't mean i'll let her scotfree. I'll teach her how to respect authority when I lay my hands on her.

The outbreak was getting serious and we were losing so many people. It would not take long to have the whole pack wiped down.

“ You owe the people that at least. After all, it is your luna who brought disaster among our people.” Ramiel spat. If his words angered me earlier, this time he managed to awaken the raging beast in me. Jumping over three shards of the broken wood, I was before him in a split second. My fist connected with his nose, the sound of bones breaking telling me that his nose sustained a few injuries but I didn't care. Nobody in this pack didn't know that mentioning her to me was taboo to me.

Only Ramiel was stupid enough to provoke me and he was surely paying the price with how my fist battered his face.

I could feel Marcus trying to pull me away from that son of a biscuit but his efforts were proving to be futile.

My insides were burning with hatred and anger and all I could see was red.

I continued to rain punches on his face until I was pulled away by more than three men.

“ Get a hold of yourself!” Marcus screamed at me, snapping me from my bloodlust.

Taking a deep breath, u tried to calm down but it was getting harder than I thought.

My beast was slowly losing it and I was afraid that sooner or later, I would go feral.

With Ramiel provoking me with the only sore spot I have, I could not keep calm.

“ He is trying to expose your situation. Don't let him succeed.” Marcus warned me through the mindlink his words momentarily confused me.

My confusion wore out when I realised what he was talking about.

Turning to look at ramiel, he now had a sly smirk on his ugly face.

“ It's inappropriate to attack a member of the Council Alpha but because today it was elder Ramiel’s fault. We won't pursue this matter. Make sure you bring the miracle doctor to the pack. That's your duty as the leader and alpha of this pack.” Another elder added and without waiting for my dismissal, they left.

“ I can't believe you fell for that.” Marcus hissed in frustration.

“ How was I supposed to know that that was his intention all along? Do you think it feels good to be played for a fool?” I retorted.

I could not believe that Ramiel set a trap for me and I stupidly fell for it! The mere thought infuriates me that I feel like choking in blood.

“ Get the car ready, I am going to drag that woman's ass to this pack.”

Tania's pov

Attending the patients can be exhausting, especially when the number is so large you hardly find time to take a break.

“ Mom, when are we leaving? You promised to take Kai and I out for dinner.” My daughter's sweet voice asked and I didn't have to look up to know she was pouting.

“ Mommy is still busy with work. Can't you be a little bit patient?” Kaiser, her brother admonished.

“ But I am hungry. Mother said that it's not good to stay on an empty stomach. “ Amelia whined.

We turned to look at her just to find her hand hanging near her mouth with a chocolate bar an inch away.

“ But are you not eating?” Kaiser asked with furrowed brows only for his sister to roll her eyes at him.

“ This is just chocolate. It's far from being food.” Amelia retorted with a straight face and I fought to giggle at her words.

Kaiser was about to say something but I cut him off.

“ It's okay Amy, I'll be done in no time then take you to eat your favourite pasta.”

Amelia snuck her tongue at her brother, making a funny face at him.

A knock on the door drew our attention.

Dr Leo entered, a worried expression on his face.

Looking between the kids and me, I turned to look at my two adorable children.

Kaiser, take your sister and head to the car. I'll be joining you shortly.” I instructed.

Being the understanding boy, Kaiser took his sister's hand, leading her through the back door.

Amelia wanted to protest but one look from her brother was enough to make her swallow her complaints.

“ What happened?” I asked doctor Leo .

“ There's some Alpha who wants. No, he demands to see you. I told him that you are not available but he threatened to have the permit of our hospital revoked.” Doctor Leo informed me and I felt my blood boil with anger.

Have our hospital permit revoked? Under what reason or just because he thinks that his alpha ass is so important and deserves attention?

“Who does he think he is? Coming to me with that attitude, does he think that will make him a hero?” I sneered.

I am so sick and tired of dealing with some assholes who think that they are so important.

“ You can tell him that if he wants to see me, let him follow the procedure. Book a damn appointment.” I declared.

“ Are you sure you want us to go down that lane, Miss Summers?” An eerily familiar voice sounded, making my blood turn cold.

Lifting my eyes, my gaze collided with the face of the only person I never wished to meet for the rest of my life.

“ Tania…” He called my name, sending goosebumps crawling on my skin.
