CHAPTER 7

Alex takes hold of my arm and leads me to the garden, pushing me against the wall and staring at me coldly.

"Stop flirting!" he says through clenched teeth.

"I was just being friendly!" I reply angrily.

"Well, don't be friendly with the guys in this pack, Jane. They all want to get between your legs." I abruptly move away from his side and stand facing the vast forest.

How dare he! I've given up everything to be by his side, and the last thing I expect is people to hang out with, but the girls here look at me with hatred, and I look at them in the same way. I miss my beta... I haven't been able to talk to Jake. I hope he doesn't hate me.

"I'm sorry, Jane," he sighs resignedly. He puts his hand on my shoulder, but I completely ignore him. If I could break the bond... maybe I would. Who am I kidding? I couldn't, I love Alex despite everything.

"Calm down, Jane. It's hard for Alex not to be jealous and possessive."

"I know, but I miss everything, Jenny. I want to go home," I say disheartened.

"Please, darling, don't be angry with me," he says in my ear, giving me kisses on my neck. I can't help but smile.

I turn around and join my lips with his. His tongue moves expertly in my mouth, kissing me passionately with tenderness. His lips are made for mine.

"Well, well, well. Look who's here," we quickly separate, and I blush immediately.

A girl with brown hair, tan skin, and hazel eyes stands in front of us, but she looks at me with admiration and affection. She's the first one who doesn't give me a death stare. I smile at her, and she returns the smile.

"We were about to come in," Alex says, taking my hand.

"Yeah, sure," she says sarcastically.

I blush even more and look down in embarrassment.

"Sweetheart, this is Nicole, my sister," she smiles excitedly. I open my eyes in surprise; I didn't know Alex had siblings.

"Hi, I'm Jane," I say with a smile.

"I know, everyone talks about you! We thought Alex wouldn't have a mate," she says excitedly.

We enter the party, and Alex finally leaves me alone with someone, maybe because it's his sister, and he trusts her.

"Tell me, do these bitches bother you?" Nicole says, pointing to a group of girls who look at me with hatred.

"I'm not interested, although it's tempting to give them a beating," I say with a smile.

"I'd love to see that. Don't worry, they're all jealous of you. They had hoped Alex would choose one of them."

I feel a pang of jealousy when I hear that. Alex is mine, and I know he wouldn't hurt me.

In the distance, I see Alex chatting with some guys. They're all so muscular, their bodies sculpted.

"Tell me, what pack are you from?" Nicole asks, smiling.

"Blood Moon pack," I say proudly.

"You're the alpha! I've heard a lot about you. You're a great alpha," I blush at her comment. Of course, everyone knows about my pack, it's the ruling one so far, but some people must already know about this pack's existence. It worries me a bit because vampires could come to eliminate them. I've defeated very powerful vampires, but there is always more hiding.

I catch a scent that makes my whole body shudder.

"Nicole, do you smell that?" I say worried. She looks at me in the same way and takes my hand.

"Yes... vampires."

*

I fix my gaze on Alex and fear completely invades me. What if there are many of them? Relax, Jane. This is the most powerful pack. It should be a piece of cake. Plus, your pack has also defeated many vampires without any problem. Everything will be fine... I hope.

Alex catches the scent, and everyone present does too. Alex searches for me and locates me with his gaze, looking at me with evident concern and fear in his eyes.

"Everything will be fine. Go with Nicole. She'll take care of you," Alex says in a conciliatory tone through the bond.

"But I..."

"It's an order, Jane. Don't argue. Go now," he says coldly. I blink in surprise.

Nicole takes my hand and drags me through the hall.

"You have to hide," she says worriedly.

"Everyone, prepare to fight," the alpha's voice resonates throughout the place.

Causing everyone to transform into wolves. I am amazed at the size of them. They are slightly larger than us, but not by much. The enormous one is Alex.

"We have to go," Nicole insists, taking my hand.

"Take care, sweetheart," I say with a sad voice. I want to be here and fight.

"I will," she says, her wolf eyes fixed on me, giving me a tender look.

We run through the castle, and Nicole makes me enter a room in the deepest part of the castle. I enter panting, trying to catch my lost breath.

"You'll be safe here," she says, breathing heavily.

"You don't have to worry. I know how to take care of myself," I said panting.

"I know, but Alex and I won't take the risk."

It sounds like hell is breaking loose outside. I can smell many vampires, but they're not too many. I'm tempted to speak to Alex through the bond, but it would only be a distraction, and I don't want him to get hurt. We hear footsteps approaching, and I immediately tense up, as does Nicole.

By my sense of smell, I can tell they're getting closer. I take Nicole's hand, and we move back. The room isn't very big. It's black, and there's only a chair with a table.

They try to open the door, but it's locked. They can smell us, too, surely.

"Everything will be fine," Nicole whispers with her lips.

I nod and prepare for the worst. They forcefully break the door, and I flinch in fright.

Everything is dark, but with my wolf vision, I can see clearly. Then a vampire enters with red eyes, intense black hair, and very pale skin.

"We meet again, Jane," the vampire says with a warm but fake smile.

"You," I whisper, petrified.
