Violet's POV

"The guards have been sent out, but there is someone else very close to this office. Who is it?" Diane asked boldly after dropping into the seat across from me.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm the only one here with you. Who else would have the guts to eavesdrop on our conversation?" I replied.

"I'm not a kid, Violet. Tell me who else is listening to us before I find out myself." She spoke firmly, and I was forced to get up to check around. That was when I realized I had hidden Simon in one of the rooms, and it had to be him she was talking about.

"There's someone in the last room. He's my friend, and I gave that room to him. But he can't hear us from that distance. Trust me," I said as I walked back into my main office.

"I trust you. I just had to know who it was. A friend, right?" she asked, and I nodded quietly.
