Chapter One

Selena's Pov

It was the eve of the highly anticipated mating ball party. A grand event where the pack members and Alphas from the neighboring city would gather to celebrate love and unity.Mostly those who are yet to find their fated mate.

The night brimmed with excitement as the moon cast its silvery embrace upon the opulent mansion that belonged to Gabriel, Alpha of Silvercrest pack.

Myself and other servants in the mansion were busy putting things into place, ensuring that every detail was perfect.

I stood afar admiring the magic we created. Starting from chandeliers casting a warm, golden glow, illuminating the intricately designed ballroom.

The delicate floral arrangements adorned every corner, adding an air of enchantment to the already majestic setting. The silverware gleamed, and the tables were set with exquisite precision, ready to welcome the esteemed guests.

Soon the guest starts trooping in, all dressed in their luxury outfits. Among them were Alphas from other packs alongside their Luna and the pack members exchanging pleasantries and chatting amongst themselves.

Just then, Alpha Gabriel descended the stairs, his steps echoing through the hall. Dressed in a tailored tuxedo suit exuding a magnetic aura that captivated all who beheld him.

I couldn't help but drool over him. His strong, chiseled features were accentuated by his piercing gaze, his muscles ripple beneath his tailored suit, his graceful and commanding movement, his towering height and broad shoulders as he made his way down alongside his best friend Asher, the pack's beta.

" He looks so perfect." Ember, my inner wolf whispered.

"Yeah, sure he does." I agreed, unable to take my gaze away from him.

His presence in the hall commanded attention, I discreetly watched him as he moved through the room, effortlessly mingling with the guests and displaying a charm that was impossible to resist.

My heart fluttered as he flashed a smile, his dimples deepening, I found myself momentarily lost in his charm. I quickly composed myself, reminding myself of my position as a servant in the mansion.

I was serving drinks to the guests when I stumbled causing me to spill the drink on Ravenna who was chatting with the guest.

Ravenna is a childhood friend of the Alpha, I guess she wants something more due to her frequent visits to the mansion. She has always despised my presence in the mansion.

"Oh no!!, what will this witch do to us now ?" Ember my wolf asked sounding worried.

"I really don't know our fate now" I replied, my heart racing.

Ravenna's eyes widened as the cold drink splashed on her expensive silk black gown.

"Are you blind? You this worthless maid, just look at the mess you’ve created on my dress!!!." She flared her voice gaining the attention of the guest.

"I-I'm so sorry lady Ravenna. It was an accident. I didn't mean to…" I stammered, feeling my hands tremble as I tightened my grip on the tray with my head bowed.

Just then Gabriel approached us, demanding to know what happened. His commanding tone filled the room, creating a sense of authority.

"What going on here?" He asked, his gaze shifting between Ravenna and me.

"Gabriel just look at what this filthy thing did to my dress."She said giving me a disdainful look.

"Clean this place immediately" his attention turned toward me.

"It’s okay…let’s get you cleaned up," he said leading Ravenna towards the nearby bathroom in the hallway.

I felt embarrassed as I made my way to the kitchen to clean the floor with a mob. I could feel the guest's gaze on me, their eyes judging my every move.

I returned to the kitchen feeling hurt by Ravenna's words, causing my eyes to well up with tears when I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, I looked up to see Jojo.

Jojo, the senior maid in the mansion and my mother's best friend. It was through her I got to work in the mansion.

I was surprised to see her here in the kitchen because she was supposed to be on bed rest due to spraining her ankle.

"Jojo, what are you doing here? The doctor strictly instructed you to rest." I said, surprise evident in my voice.

"I was feeling thirsty, so I decided to get water from the kitchen myself," she explained, raising an empty jug of water.

I took the empty jug from her and filled it with water when she wiped the tears that escaped down the side of my eyes.

"Dear, I saw what happened earlier, don't take it to heart, everything will be alright."She assured me with a comforting smile.

Feeling overwhelmed, I hugged her tightly as she gently patted my back.

"Thank you." I whispered.

The ceremony began with Gabriel giving an opening speech,I stood by the kitchen entrance watching how the event unfolded, the guest took to the dance floor with their respective partners.

The air was filled with laughter and the tantalizing melodies of the orchestra.

My gaze drifted towards Ravenna as she led Gabriel to the dance floor, swaying her curves as they moved effortlessly to the rhythm of the music in perfect harmony. I couldn't help but feel a pang of pain in me.

They both look perfect together, for a moment I wished to be fated to the Alpha. The mere thought of him sends shivers down my spine.

"You might be fated to him." Ember my wolf said intruding my thought.

"Stop being ridiculous, we both know it's an impossible dream," I replied.

"I have a strong feeling it's you, I've been catching a whiff of his scent lately." She said firmly.

“Really?!!,Ember, and you didn’t dim it fit to tell me.” My voice laced with anger.

“I’m sorry Selena, I didn’t want to raise your hopes, I know how you’ve longed for a mate but I wanted to be sure before letting you know.”

Letting out a sigh, “ It’s okay,Ember.”

Though I possessed features that many would find beautiful-lustrous dark brown hair, striking hazel eyes, sun-kissed tan skin, a slender frame, perfect curves, and an average height. I remained a mere maid born to an omega parent.

As the night grew deeper and the moon reached its zenith, the most anticipated moment -the unveiling of the Alpha's mate. It was the moment when the goddess's mystical influence would unveil the Alpa's fated mate.

Following the werewolf customs, the alpha's inner Wolf will feel a strong connection to the fated mate, helping him detect the unique scent and recognize the mark of the goddess upon her that remains hidden from others.

The air grew heavy with anticipation as the guests could hardly contain their thrill of who would be favored by the goddess to be the fated mate of the Alpha.

Their gaze is glued to the Alpha's every move as he makes his way through the hall to identify his fated mate.

To everyone's surprise, he made his way in my direction, many thoughts ran through my head as I couldn't comprehend what was happening.

"See , I told you my instincts are never wrong." Ember exclaimed, her voice brimming with excitement.

"You can't be so sure Ember," I responded, my voice filled with skepticism.

Gabriel stopped just in front of me as his face was void of any expression, I couldn't tell what was going through his mind, his piercing gaze locked with mine, at that moment, I felt an emotional connection towards him.

"Just say it! Say it! Say the word." Ember urged eagerly, referring to the Alpha.

I stood still, I anxiously waited for him to say something, my heart racing as I nervously fidgeted with the hem of my dress. I could hear the guests murmuring among themselves.

My eyes darted through the crowd to see an already displeased Ravenna staring at me with hatred.

Breaking the silence, Gabriel uttered a single word "Mate".
