Chapter Eight

Selena’s Pov

I followed the directions given to me by the nurse at the reception, I navigated my way through the hospital corridor until I reached the entrance of the ICU. Peering through the window, I saw my mom lying on the bed, surrounded by unfamiliar wires that I could not identify.

With a gentle push, I opened the door and stepped into the ICU. It was well equipped with various medical equipment including the cardiac monitor that was beeping softly, monitoring my mother's heart rate and rhythm, and other medical devices I could not identify their names.

I moved closer to her bedside, and the nurse assigned to watch over her signaled me to keep silent. I gently stroked her hair. Although she still hasn't regained consciousness, I noticed her heartbeat is normal which was a relief for me.

Just then my stomach growled loudly, the nurse couldn't help but shake her head in amusement causing me to blush with embarrassment. It just dawned on me that I was hungry, I had forgotten I had
