Amelia was so scared at what happened in front of her that her brain shut down. Her skin became clammy and cold sweat glistened on her forehead. Her eyes became wide like a football field. Was she was trapped in a nightmare? Was her mind playing games with her? A man just got consumed in the flames and instead of burning to ashes as a normal person would, as what she had studied in her college he disappeared. It was bizarre.
She got up on her feet. She was so shaky that she didn’t know how to control the shiver of her body. Tears ran out of her eyes. If this man was the demon king, then he won’t leave her alone. He would come back to take her away as he had said. She could sense the determination in his voice. She could sense the possessiveness in his voice. He was dangerous.
Nyka was enraged that the nymph, a woman lower than her, was tricking her. The portal was created by one of the demons who she had bargained with and it wouldn’t stay for long. She had to get to the nymph, kill her, grab the bag and then come back. Not much time was left.
“Do you think this is going to work?” asked Nyka. Now that things were moving forward, her interest was increasing. Would Xikoth actually give that much money for the antidote? She chuckled and then rubbed her hands.
“We must go and meet the Contact, Xikoth,” said Amelia over dinner. She had been craving to meet him. Though her father, Ivanov was recovering, she thought that keeping an antidote handy would be better.
Xikoth brought his wife closer to his chest and kissed her forehead. “Calm down Amelia. We will find her soon.” He pulled her to his lap and cradled her. She pressed her head into his chest and curled her knees. This place was the safest, it felt like home. She craved for it every minute of the day. Her thoughts went to Nyka once again and she regretted not killing her earlier. So much could have been prevented if that woman wasn’t in their lives. Xikoth rocked her lovingly until she fell asleep.
Xikoth’s wings were flaring in rage. He was having trouble controlling his anger. The concubine had escaped and invited his wrath. He knew that he would peel off her head the moment he saw her. “What is it that you want to say, Javri?” asked Xikoth baring his fangs.
When Nyka saw Amelia walking in the court dressed in the normal human clothes, she suspected that Amelia would be visiting the human realm. And there were high chances that she would visit her father, but there were higher chances that she would visit Lyrie. If that happened, all her plans would be spilled and Xikoth would kill her in rage. She had planned on making Amelia her slave because she thought that Xikoth was interested in her, but now she had to flee for life, because if she didn’t, then it was highly likely that she wouldn’t see the new day. The first thing that
