15. The Best Gift

“If it isn’t my favorite student.”

I jumped away in surprise and saw Katarina whispering loudly against my ear. I covered my ear as I looked up at her like a deer caught in headlights. She sneered at me, relishing at my reaction.

“I suggest you eat meat and not… that.” She nodded towards the tart I reached before she startled me. I stared at the desserts longingly. She rolled her eyes and sighed. “Just go get one.” I hurriedly grabbed one and ate it all the while Katarina was staring at me. I stole a glance at her before looking away.

“You know, you’re not at all pretty bad, baby girl. As much as I want to deny, you have improved greatly in your training.” She said, surprising me. “You better keep it up.”

Katarina grabs two glasses of drinks from an omega passing by. She gave one to me. “Drink.” She ordered, noticing that I wasn’t moving, still stunned at her confession. I quickly drank it, still not getting used to the burn in my throat.
