32. Her Betrayal

“No.”

“What did you say?” There was a low guttural sound in dad’s voice, obvious that he was mad at my answer.

I abruptly stand, and for the first time, I seem to have the confidence to face them firmly. “I said no.” Dad gritted his teeth, scowling at me. His glare could pierce straight to my heart if it was a real dagger. “I would never betray them. You see them as monsters but I don’t.”

“You little-” Dad rose to his feet in anger. “You insolent fool. Serene was right. They have poisoned your mind. How dare you defend those savage beasts. They have killed a lot of our people and you… you protect them! If they will come for us and kill us, blood will be in your hands and I will make sure to come back and kill you myself!” My dad spat with immense rage. The hatred in his eyes has come to surface– the hatred that was only directed to me.
