“What did you say?” There was a low guttural sound in dad’s voice, obvious that he was mad at my answer.

I abruptly stand, and for the first time, I seem to have the confidence to face them firmly. “I said no.” Dad gritted his teeth, scowling at me. His glare could pierce straight to my heart if it was a real dagger. “I would never betray them. You see them as monsters but I don’t.”

“You little-” Dad rose to his feet in anger. “You insolent fool. Serene was right. They have poisoned your mind. How dare you defend those savage beasts. They have killed a lot of our people and you… you protect them! If they will come for us and kill us, blood will be in your hands and I will make sure to come back and kill you myself!” My dad spat with immense rage.
