Chapter 9

Emeraude and Cassian remained silent, unsure of what to say to her father. It was exactly what Emeraude wanted to avoid, and that's why she didn't want Cassian to accompany her.

"Dad," she finally spoke, and he looked at her, expecting a response. "Happy birthday!" Emeraude threw herself into his arms, and he hugged her tightly. "I missed you so much."

"Missed you too, my daughter," he replied affectionately. "Let's go inside, Cassian. After all, we have a lot to talk about."

"Of course, Sir," Cassian said. Her father kissed her on the forehead and went ahead. Once he entered the house, Emeraude turned to Cassian, anger evident on her face.

"You idiot!" she whispered loudly, punching his chest. "You weren't supposed to open your mouth and talk nonsense! Do you realize how traditional my father is? You messed us up!"
