“Nereth?” Easton reflexively echoed, his feet slowly carrying him closer to the girl beside Ash, though he remained cautious.

Seeing the unfamiliar girl who somehow managed to be in the middle of Ardenvale with Ash, Easton’s mind instinctively turned to Nereth. The name slipped from his lips before he had the chance to stop himself.

Could it be that Nereth truly exists?

“No?” the girl replied in confusion instead, rising from her kneeling position before brushing the dust from her dress.

For a moment, none of them moved. The golden light remained faintly visible in Reverie’s palm, pulsing softly like a second heartbeat against the chilly morning air.Reverie stared at it, her breath hitching in her throat. Then, acting purely on instinct, she raised her hand toward the lake. The moment her palm faced the water, the glassy surface of Lake Arden began to churn. Not because of the wind—there was none. The water slowly gathered toward the shore, forming gentle, rhythmic ripples that spread outward from a single, invisible point directly in front of them.Ash immediately rose to his feet, his muscles tensing under his thick fur.“Reverie,” the wolf warned, his voice low.Startled, the girl lowered her hand. Instantly, the ripples died down, and the water flattened once more.Easton shifted his weight, looking from the still lake back to Reverie with narrowed, analytical eyes. “Try again,” he urged.“What?” she asked, her voice tight with confusion.“Raise your hand,” Easto

The moment they passed through the ancient stone gate, the atmosphere of the forest changed. The fallen trees that had previously been scattered densely around them began to disappear, replaced by the tranquil expanse of Lake Arden stretching between the damaged parts of the forest. Mist hung low over the surface of the water, moving slowly with the breeze, while the pale morning light filtered through the leaves and fell upon the grass still damp with dew.Reverie slowed her steps. The place was slightly darker than when she had first arrived there. Even though it had been nighttime then, while it was morning now...Lake Arden was not something new to Reverie. This was where she had first met Ash and Easton, beneath the mist that was almost identical to the one that covered the lake that morning.Yet somehow, after passing through the gate this time, something felt different. As though Lake Arden had been waiting for their arrival.“What was that power of yours earlier, Reverie?” Ash

That morning came with a sky that was grayer than usual. A thin mist still lingered among the trees when Reverie opened the window, and for a moment, she simply sat there in silence, gazing at the yard that had nearly disappeared beneath the silvery-white veil. The air felt colder, carrying the scent of damp earth and leaves freshly washed by dew. However, something else caught her attention first. The sounds of life could already be heard coming from the kitchen, which meant Easton was already there. Reverie immediately got up from her seat and hurried toward the kitchen. The young man had arrived earlier than usual, with his hair and clothes looking neater than usual. On the dining table, there was already whole wheat bread—Reverie's favorite—complete with blueberry jam that Easton had confidently claimed a few days ago was homemade. “Just woke up, sleepyhead?” Being under the same roof from morning until evening almost every day had apparently made Easton increasingl

It was impossible to say exactly how long the two of them had been sitting across from each other in front of the fireplace, reading through one thick old book after another. The blue sky outside had long since been replaced by darkness, scattered with stars. For hours now, the two had been completely immersed in silence, each far too focused on finding the answers they were looking for.“Good grief, how long are we going to keep doing this? My eyes hurt.” Reverie was the first to give up. Her eyes were sore, and so were her neck and lower back. She then placed the unfinished book on the table. That caught Easton’s attention, though he had not been bothered at all by the way they had spent the past several hours. But seeing the girl in front of him finally give up, Easton sighed. He set down the book in his hands as well, fortunately having already finished it, then reached for the book Reverie had been reading.“Are all people from Bellmere as lazy as you?” the young man remarked, fl

The sunlight had now reached its highest point in the sky, casting a warm golden glow through the dense canopy of pine trees. The gentle afternoon breeze brushed against Reverie’s face as she remained standing in the doorway, her hair moving softly with the wind.Beside her, Ash was still sitting calmly, causing Reverie to once again recall and process the remnants of tension after hearing the wolf’s words about “the destroyers” on the other side. However, her tension suddenly dissipated when the sound of footsteps broke through the silence of the undergrowth. From behind the rows of trees, a figure she had unconsciously been waiting for finally appeared. The young man approached with slightly labored breaths. He was wearing cleaner clothes than the ones he had worn yesterday, and in one hand, he carried something that appeared to be food. The moment his eyes caught sight of Reverie—now standing neatly dressed in his sister’s clothes, her hair elegantly braided—Easton’s footsteps came

“Come on, Reverie, this isn’t the time to joke around. My mother asked me to come home before dark, and I’m already late.” Easton turned toward the girl, who still hadn’t moved past the boundary of Ardenvale.“I’m not joking, East. I can’t get through,” the girl replied, her voice half-panicked.Easton clicked his tongue in slight annoyance and immediately turned back, walking toward Reverie again. The young man then took Reverie’s hand and began leading the way once more, letting her walk behind him. Yet the moment he managed to cross the boundary of Ardenvale Forest, the pull on his hand suddenly stopped, as though it had caught on something. Easton turned back toward the girl behind him.And sure enough, Reverie’s body could not pass through the forest boundary, as though an invisible wall stood in front of her.“You’ve got to be kidding me...” Easton stared at her in disbelief. This only made the situation even more complicated. He couldn’t possibly stay with Reverie in the forest
