CARLISLE

I hated sunlight.

And I hated the fact that I had to go out into the sunlight when I didn't need to.

But that damned woman just wasted my time and made me burn for no good reason. If I had my way, I'd rip her throat out myself and have it for dinner.

The idiot who had this body should have checked to see if she had gotten her wolf yet before making me make that trip.

No, it wasn't him I should blame. He didn't even know what was going on out here.

I should blame the toad who was supposed to be his assistant. He was the one who I asked.

“Gomez! Get yourself in here!”

He ran in, throwing the door wide open.

“Shut that damn door, you bastard! You're letting sunlight in!”

I don't know how the King had worked with this flat headed fish.

“My King, you called for me.”

I picked up the book in front of me and threw it at him, making sure that it hit him on the head. By the time he stood up, there was blood trickling down the side of his head.

“How dare you look me in the eye? What is

Just because you avoid the conversation doesn't mean I won't go.”She stopped picking through her food and looked at me.“Why have you decided to do this, Elinna? What has that pack done to you that you have decide to put me and yourself through this pain?”I wouldn't willingly just decide to go if I didn't feel that there was a need to.I mean, when Gina and the rest of them came to the office, I didn't feel the need to go to the pack because I didn't have anything else to say to them. But Carlisle's visit to me a few days ago was one that wasn't ordinary. ELINNAI came out of the car and looked at Lizzy.“What did you say?”She stared at me and that's when I noticed that she was holding something behind her back. What was she planning to do?How far was she going to go to stop me from going to see Carlisle?I held her eyes for a while before eventually, she budged and pulled me in for a hug.“Call me when you get there. I would have loved to go with you but I can't. Someone has to take care of Chase and the company.”We pulled away from each other and I looked at her. Was she truly fine with this? I don't know.“I have to get going. I have a long way to go. And I'll be driving.”We waved goodbye and I drove out of the compound..I'd dropped a letter for Chase to read when he woke up. He liked it when I did that.I had approximately seven hours ahead of me and at some point, I thought I should just take a flight but then, there's no use..I could use the time on the road to think and plan..The sun had risen a few hours later and it helpe

ELINNA“Ben, I'm trying to be as calm as I can be because I'm driving and you're not worth having an accident over. You left me, Ben. From my version of events, or maybe things have changed since I left, you left me. I found you with my sister on our anniversary in the hotel.”I heard him silently gasp through the phone.“Oh, you think I didn't see you? Helen told me that she saw you at the hotel. I came and I saw you with my sister and I came here and saw you. So don't even think you can tell me anything and I'll believe you blindly. If you think that you can find your way back into my life just like that and I'll willingly accept you, you have to be joking. Last I checked, I was married.”He laughed out loud.“I thought you left Carlisle. Didn't you divorce him? Or how can you still be married to a man that you left for four years? Please, don't be ridiculous. You are single and that means that you are free and I can come back to you.”One thing about Ben was that he had guts. I lik

ELINNA“Maybe next time, say something quickly so I don't have to look like a fool. What the hell am I supposed to do now?”They were getting close to the door and I was at a loss. The fact that I was not even supposed to see them was also another issue that I had to face.“Maybe for one, turn around so they don't know that you can see them. Staring right at them is a death trap.”I turned around immediately. This was shit. Bullshit. Maybe I should have just gone on my way. Or maybe I should have just taken the hunger and waited until I got to where I was going.“Elinna, listen to me. I'll give you instructions but you have to follow them correctly.”They burst through the front door and started looking around.I turned around to face the counter and the boy at the counter gave me a weird look because he was waiting for me to take my order and most definitely get the hell out of the store.“Pick up your order and go quietly to the bathroom. ELINNA“And you think that since the inception of time till now that they have managed to kill every last one of them, you think it's me that's going to be the one to stop them? Me? Really? Please, don't be ridiculous.”Not only was I not interested in whatever was going on between them and the Moon Goddess because I hadn't known about it before, but I was also not interested because I had company to face.I had other things to do and think about and I didn't want to get involved in the Werewolf Kingdom but I didn't have a choice. From the looks of things, I might have to stay there for a while to make sense of what the hell is going on.“If you fail, they're going to be successful. They're planning something. Something so big that she had to send me to you because she knew you needed help.”From the way Ice was talking, it was obvious that she wasn't just a kid. She had been through and seen a lot.“Who are you and why did she send you? Why didn't she just give me my own wolf?”My

ELINNAI got to the pack that evening and just headed straight for a hotel.I avoided all the hotels close to my house which was basically all the hotels in the clan. Most of the industries were around where I used to live with my family and I didn't want them to know that I was here because I didn't want them to harass me in any way.I just came here for something and I was going to leave as soon as possible. Didn't want to give them the chance to kill me.I ordered room service on my way to my room and I just slumped on my bed as I got there.Lizzy had called me on my way up and I just told her that I was tired and I wanted to sleep for now and I'll call her later. I sent a message to Chase because I wouldn't be able to call him without falling asleep on the call.I think I fell asleep before the room service cane because I could hear them knocking but my body wouldn't allow me to wake up.I'll apologize to them later.By the next morning, I woke up early and refreshed. ELINNA“One would think that taking a body like this would make you more of a man and less of a coward but no, I could smell your cowardice all the way from the gate.”He scoffed and pushed his sunglasses further up his nose bridge.“I’m sure you know how much I hate the sun. So don't waste my time with stupid talks and lets go inside so we can talk about the things that truly matter.”He turned around and walked away, leaving me standing there.I wonder if he could sense Ice. He would have said something if he could. She probably hid herself very well.I followed him into the house, remembering the first time I walked in through these hallways. I felt so happy that day, I felt like every other bride, but I wasn't treated like one.I only saw these hallways two times, the first time I came to this house and the last time I was in this house. That day marked my freedom and I remembered dragging my pregnant self out of this house, swearing that I'll never come back here again even as a

ELINNA“Noe, explain to me how on earth I tell you to do one thing. One thing! And who do you go ahead to do?! Twenty five other things asides that one thing! Do you think that if he had decided to harm you or kill you, he won't have succeeded?”Since I got home and called for Ice, I'd been getting an earfull..“And who will be blamed for this? Who do you think will have to take the fall for your irresponsible actions, Elinna?! I will. Because I was supposed to be watching you but you put yourself in harm's way!”The fact that she was in my head and she was shouting just made things worse. I had a very bad headache and I had to deal with it. I knew that I shouldn't have gone to smart talk him but I couldn't help it.There was just something about him that made me so angry.“Ice please stop shouting. I didn't mean to. ELINNA“You can still eat while they work. I know it may look overwhelming but it's not.”Yeah, easy for him to say. He wasn't the one who had to sit down and be their doll. I didn't have this much of a crew when I had to do the press conference. “Just go, sit down and let them work. They have to be done with you in an hour.”An hour? And here I was thinking that they would be done in half an hour at most. The fact that the elders were already waiting for me was funny. Because they would be expecting me any moment now, and here I was, not looking anything like a Queen. With that in mind, I walked over and sat in the chair, holding my breath as they approached me with their makeup brushes and hair brushes and spray cans. They did allow me to eat. However, they had to feed it to me at intervals which was very uncomfortable. With my eyes closed, I didn't even know when they were done and I was scared to open my eyes , because the last time I did, one of the ladies almost bit my head

ELINNA “Gomez, I don't think I can do this. Just tell them that the King can't see them right now. What do I know about the present situation? I can't go there and embarrass myself. I mean, what do you want me to say? Give them a yes or no verdict? What if they don't listen to me? I'll look like a fool. I can't take that risk. Besides, the only time they've ever seen me was at the wedding. And they probably know about the divorce. I don't think they will want to hear anything from me. The wedding is obviously invalid. What will-” “My Queen!” I hadn't even realized that I had been shouting until I heard that. The car was finally silent and I just sat there, staring at the road. I was not the Queen. I never was. And I never will be. “You married the King, Mrs Evergreen. You are the Queen. And no, they don't know about the divorce. The King kept that a secret from everyone else. So to them, you're still the Queen.” I wanted to ask him if he was pulling my legs but I knew that

ELINNA As I made my way into the house, my stomach churned. I didn't feel so good anymore and the warning bells were going off in my head, telling me to go back because I was showing to be in a house alone with Kesian. “Don’t worry about it. Go, I'll make sure it take care of things. He won't harm you and if it even crosses his mind, I put him down before he can succeed.” With Ice's reassuring words in heart, I was finally inside the house. Kesian was in the dining room with his back turned away form me. “You know if you were going to make me a meal, you shouldn't have let me go. It's not safe for em to be driving at night.” He didn't move and it didn't seem like it was him I was talking to. Either way, I made my way to the seat, sitting down at the exact place where I had been sitting earlier that day. The food laid out before did smell divive and it made me wonder where he got it. Did he ask a maid to prepare it or did he do some magic and this happened? Either way, no mat

ELINNA I lodged in a hotel. There was no way that I could let myself go back home when I knew that something was going to go very wrong if I did. Even though I didn't know what they were planning, I couldn't help but feel a slight sense of responsibility. Carlisle didn't have control over his body and it was up to me to protect him. I know that he'll trust me to do so and I couldn't let him down. I couldn't leave him at the hands of that thing. I didn't know what damage he would do. I'll be here to keep an eye on him. Hopefully, he leaves quickly so Carlisle and I can go back home. The fact that it seemed like he was so untouchable kept me on the edge. I mean, so far I hadn't found out anything that could help me in bringing him down. Yes, I knew about him and I knew his motive and what he was pining for but that didn't mean that I had won this. Infact, it seemed like he was always a step ahead of me. If this was how things were going to keep going, then I didn't have a

ELINNA What did I know that I was doing? I'd told Carlisle to trust me, that I knew what we were doing but as we approached the gate of his old house, I began to wonder what I would do if this whole situation had gone out of control. Kesian had already made it clear that he wasn't a fan of me and that he wanted to kill.me so if he actually did attack me, what would I do? I'd asked Ice to be dormant, meaning that she couldn't just jump out of thin air. Why had I come here in the first place? There was something I wanted to try. As we got down from the car, I felt the urge to tell Carlisle the truth. I was setting him up for a trap and I might as well let him in on it so he wouldn't just be out in the open.. “Carlisle, there is something I want to tell you.” He stopped walking and turned to me..I could see his eyes even in the darkness. Safe to say Kesian hadn't caught unto us yet. He closed the distance between us. “What is the matter? Do you sense him?” I shook m

ELINNA We met up later that night. Well, evening because the sun hadn't fully gone down. When I saw him get down from his car, I patiently waited for Gomez to come out after him but when I didn't see him, I let out a sigh of relief. I didn't have anything against the guy but this time, I just wanted it to be just Carlisle. “You ready?” He nodded. I could feel his eyes still on him as I walked past him to his car but I didn't turn around or say anything because I didn't feel like talking yet. The first hour after he started driving was quiet. I was on my phone texting Lizzy, coming up with a lie about where I was going to be for at least a week and hoping that she would believe it when he pulled me out of my thoughts. “How're things at your company? Are other investors still giving you a headache?” I looked up from my phone before shaking my head. “No, no one has said anything about leaving but it doesn't mean the other investors don't know about it.” He looked at me.. “Yo

Carlisle The news had finally gotten to me. What Emily had been talking about had just happened. They'd come to tell me about the shipment and how they needed my help with it. Just as I was starting to get lost in my thoughts, my phone rang. I picked it up, expecting it to be Gomez or Alex but it was Elinna. "Hey, Carlisle. I was thinking we should meet up and talk." I raised an eyebrow, wondering what she wanted to talk about "What's on your mind?" I asked, trying to wonder if there's an issue. "I just wanted to discuss some things with you," she said. "Maybe we could grab coffee or something?" I nodded, even though she couldn't see me. "Sure, that sounds good," I said. "When were you thinking?" "How about now?" she asked. "I'm free if you are." I glanced at my watch, wondering what was happening. "I'm good," I said. "Where do you want to meet?" We agreed on a different place this time since the usual place didn't serve coffee. and I hung up the phone, feeling a sense

ELINNA My phone's loud ringing snapped me out of the delirium that I was in. I answered it, expecting it to be Lizzy, who had left the house all day. But instead, it was a call from the hospital. "Hello?" I said, my voice calm. "Elinna, this is the hospital. We've had your father brought in and we'd like you to come down to see him," the nurse said. My heart sank as I heard the words. "What's wrong?" I asked, rising to my feet. "He's in critical condition," the nurse replied. "We need you to come down to the hospital as soon as possible to see him." I quickly got up and grabbed my keys. "I'm on my way," I said, already heading out the door. As I drove to the hospital, my mind was racing with thoughts of my father. What was he sick with? Was he going to survive it? If anything happened to him, Lily and Gin will pay for it. When I arrived at the hospital, I rushed to the ICU unit where my father was being kept. I saw him lying in the bed, hooked up to machines and tu

CARLISLE Since Alex couldn't give me answers, maybe the reporter could. Besides, if he had used his brain and not sent those pictures, this wouldn't be happening. “We meet again. Do you have answers for me now? Who sent you those pictures? " I asked, trying to seem calm. The reporter was already sweating. "I-I didn't know who sent me the information, sir.” I raised an eyebrow. "You didn't know?" I repeated "How convenient." I nodded to my men, who stepped forward and started beating the reporter. He cried out in pain as they punched and kicked him. After a few minutes, I signaled for my men to stop. The reporter was gasping for breath, his face bruised. "Now, let's try this again," I said, stepping closer "Who sent you the information?" The reporter shook his head, looking like he was about to pass out. "I-I don't know, sir," he whispered. I sighed, nodding to my men again. They continued the beating, stopping and starting several times. Each time, I would ask the rep
