She outstretched her hand casually towards Su Jing who received the handshake “Hi. Mo Xin Er”
“Su Jing. I’m Liuying's boyfriend. Nice to meet you”“Oh. Nice to meet you too” But beneath her tongue, the words ‘I wouldn’t say the same. You’re disturbing my peace”She smiled lightly. And began eating. Su Jing looked at her dumbfounded. Okay, where was the usual pleasantries? She seemed like she would slaughter him if he said anything while she was eating. He looked towards Fan Liuying again and they both glanced at the other two simultaneously, their thoughts perfectly the same‘What a pair of weirdos. They'll make a good couple'Truth be told, they both didn't realise how perfect their thoughts were. However, let's leave that for the future. The dinner went that way, with a foodie concentrated on her food, a couple distributing dog food in the middle of a restaurant and a young man silently eating his meal, his eyes thoroughly fixed on the food.“It's getting late now. We should go” Su King finally said turning towards his friend and the other nodded. He got up immediately, his face blank as he walked out of the restaurant. His friend sighed apologetically, probably used to his unpredictable behavior. Mo Xin Er and Fan Liuying also got up and the three walked out of the restaurant, his hands on Fan Liuying's waist as they whispered sweet nothings to each other. Mo Xin Er glanced at the two, increasing her pace and walked towards the car. She leaned on one of the doors and rubbed her stomach. She looked quite adorable and Lu Yichen who stood about 20 meters away from her, would find this scene deeply etched in his memory.Fan Liuying soon skipped towards her, beaming. She giggled waving towards Su King as she got in the car. Mo Xin Er couldn’t help but whistle as she got into the car. Soon, they were on their way to their hostel. “I hope you enjoyed the meal” Fan Liuying finally said as she drove.“I did. Their cuisines are top notch. What's the name, by the way? I’d like to other takeout from them someday.” Fan Liuying gasped, finally finding her utterly weird. Who doesn’t remember the name of the place they ate? She found her totally absurd. But Mo Xin Er's thoughts were different. She was too lazy and hungry to care about the name engraved in a squared block placed at the top of the restaurant.“It’s name is Shimmer”“Shimmer. Okay, thanks by the way”“You’re welcome. What course are you offering?”“Mass communications”“Oh. You’re in arts”“Yeah.”“Lu Yichen is an arts student too. I bet, you too will be meeting quite a lot”“Who?”“Lu Yichen. It seems you guys didn’t talk the other time. He is Su Jing's friend” She replied and Mo Xin Er's mind finally darted towards the guy who sat down beside Fan Liuying's boyfriend.“Oh, I see”She didn’t think much about the person. Nor did she expect them to be meeting a lot of times. But she remembered he was quite handsome.“I study Veterinary Medicine” “Oh, you’re in the sciences.” She remembered her brother was also in the sciences. Fan Liuying could be of help if she ever wanted to go look for the trouble maker anyway.“Su Jing is in sciences too. He always seem to follow me wherever I go” Fan Liuying muttered excitedly and Mo Xin Er turned to look at her, unsure of what to feel or say towards the other girl. She found her to be jovial and eager to make a friends. “Ah by the way, you’ve missed about two weeks of class. Is something wrong?”“No. My mom didn't want us to leave her.” She remembered how much of a tantrum her mother made the day they received their admission letters. Unconsciously, she smiled. They had been together for less than two years but she had grown attached to them as the were to her. She found that she was about to forge familial love with them. She learned that bonds weren't made out of blood. It was the desire to love and protect one another that forged unbreakable bonds. Two years ago, she was on the streets. An eighteen year old looking for a job. She never forgot her will to avenge her mother. She had always found her death absurd. Her mother wasn’t an hooligan. Why would a group of gang come knocking on her door and wiped her cold? She had always wanted to find out and that desire didn’t change a bit.A few weeks when she began to train, she would cry while using a punching bag. Then at some point she wouldn’t be able to control the urge to kill. She would let the will to revenge take control of her. Until her instructor, Scot finally noticed. He would beat her up making sure she would never be able to stand. He would say in her ears to never let revenge take control of her. She would get hit but still get up again. It was a sort of psychological punishment but she knew it worked well. One would think it was cruel but she knew well enough, that he was able to pull her back from her killing spree whenever it happened. She was very grateful to him for that. Mo Xin Er sighed as she looked out of the window, the evening breeze splashing the windows and giving her a sense of peace. She was contented with this life. She had a family. One who loved her dearly. She had friends who cared about her. There was Zach, Annie, Su Ye. She had students she had impacted her knowledge into. She loved this life.A sudden bump as they pulled into the driveway jolted her out of her thoughts. She didn’t realize that they reached school. They got out of the car and saw that a red Maserati bumped into the car's bumper.Fan Liuying looked really pissed as she made her way to the car. The owner didn't seem to have the decency to come out, afterall. She knocked impatiently on the car's window but when no one answered, she kicked the car door. Unexpectedly, it jerked open. But what met their eyes was a total tragic scene. A man was slumped on the driver's seat, his head bumped into the stirring wheel. There was a hole in his shoulder blade and blood gushed out of it in huge quantities. The two girls stood in front of the car, shell-shocked. Fan Liuying's fingers which was holding onto the door handle shook. She began to shake. Although Mo Xin Er was much composed, she was very shocked. His phone which was still powered on and a voice that kept calling and shouting his name jolted them out of their reverie. Mo Xin Er looked around. It was dark and the hostel was quiet. No one seemed to be in sight. She didn’t know what to do. She glanced at the other girl for a moment before taking
She was clueless too. It was meant to be just a simple eat out and they would come back to their room. She never expected such a scene. And she desperately wished, she was doing the right thing. She was about to reply the girl again when a pair of lights flashed on their faces. They looked into the distance and saw a motorbike headed their way. Soon it sped and parked beside them. The rider was clothed all in black. He pulled his helmet off hurrying down from the bike and walked towards them. The moment he got in front of them, she watched as shock plastered on his face for a few seconds. And before she could blink, it was gone.He walked towards the car and after probably confirming he got the right person, he turned towards them.“Thank you so much. And also for not the calling cops. I promise you'll not be implicated in anyway regarding this matter. To express my thanks, please accept this. If you need any help in the future, make sure to come looking for me. I’m v
A turn of the key woke the engine and she veered the car out of the driveway. She glanced at the phone and smiled seeing her dad's face emerge on the screen amidst the sounds of things falling. She smiled knowingly – he was being clumsy again.“Hi Dad”“Hey there, princess. You’re driving?”“I’m on my way to school”“Okay.”“I heard some things falling. Is everything okay over there? “He scratched his head awkwardly and veered the phone in the direction of the floor as he showed her the while room. “Totally collided in the hotel's vase. Will be refunding the money before checking out later”“Oh. But you said the partnership will be concluded in two days'? In the past eight months, the family business has been moving on well. It was a total contrast to when she first knew them. And like her mom would say, they were socialites. It was evident though. Owing to the way those rich ladies would come looking for her to chat and shop with.“Some things went wrong th
“By the way, I’m Yun Shao”“Mo Xin Er”“You’ve not been in class throughout the previous weeks?”“I just arrived yesterday”“Oh. You’ve got some bits of catching up to do then”“Thanks” she smiled lightly as they walked into the hall. There were a lot of people seated already. Some were sitting in groups, most were browsing through their phones. But what surprised her the most, was that there were only two seats left. She thanked the young man and walked towards one of the seats with her hands in her pockets. When she pulled off her back, she noticed that there was someone beside her. His head was rested on the table and he only wriggled slightly on his seat making space for her. Pulling her bag off, she took her seat beside him. Soon enough, the teacher walked in and the class started. It was only when the class began, did the person beside her, lift his head. He leaned back on the seat, clasping his hands. She had wanted to ask him about what she m
She was still staring at him when he suddenly turned to look at her, “I might totally charge you for staring” The moment she heard those words, she huffed and looked away making him laugh at how adorable she was. They had zero interactions after that and immediately the class ended, she got up and hung her backpack on her shoulders and walked out of class. She walked outside the hall and found herself in the hallway again. This time, she knew her way out. Her stomach growled lightly and she nearly cursed out of embarrassment. Truly, she hadn’t eaten at all.She looked around as she walked and sighed with relief when she came across a milkshake stall. In the next minute, she found herself standing in front of the stall owner as she collected three packs of milkshake. She knew it wouldn't do any good to her to take sugary things so early in the morning, but she convinced herself that she was hungry. With a milkshake in hand and her backpack slung ac
“Are you hungry? Do you want me to take you to a good restaurant?”“Mind your business.”“It's not like I'll do anything to you,” He laughed before mumbling, “Who wants to touch that flat runway of yours, anyway?”“You really want to get beaten up, don’t you? Fine. Mommy will teach you a lesson”She lifted her leg and kicked his rear making him still for a moment before frowning in pain.‘Damn. She's so strong'The scene played out amidst a lot of students and they couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Some who knew him even said, “Isn’t that Young Master Xuan? He tried to pick up girls and got beaten up for it”Li Xuan gritted his teeth and decided to be magnanimous. He shouldn't beat girls. Anyway, the little turnip head had no idea he would be getting really beaten up the moment he tried that.“Don’t worry. I won’t do anything to you. It's not like you can’t fend me off even if I tried to. Bills on me” he persuaded and she finally stopped walking to look at hi
First, she didn’t reject him when he said he would treat her. Most girls he met would first decline politely but still go with him. Second, when he asked personal things, they would begin to divulge information. Anyway, he liked her character this way. Not only would she be able to protect herself, ‘him’(her self proclaimed brother) wouldn’t have to worry much about her.Yes, he liked her as a sister he didn’t get to have. He had always wondered how it would feel like to have a sister. He had cousin sisters but he didn’t like them because they never approached h8m with good thoughts in mind.He snapped out of his thoughts and he widened his eyes at the sight in front of him. The large French dish was gone and there were three empty glasses placed on the table. She must have finished the first and ordered more when he was in a trance.“You finished that alone”“Of course. It was very tasty. Are you worried I will squander your money?”“No. But are you comfo
“Yesterday, something shocking happened… bla bla bla” And just like that she went on rambling and told him everything.“So you mean, someone was shot at your hostel.”“Nope. He drove into the driveway, already shot. I’m guessing he was being chased.”“So what you mean is that you encountered a dying, mysterious man in front of your hostel and you calmly stood there, without calling the cops? He asked calmly from the phone and from how calm and low his voice was, she knew it didn’t mean he was in a good mood.“I… actually..”“Did you ever think about what will happen if he happens to be a terrorist? Or a kidnapper? Or perhaps, a serial killer? Saving someone? Are you a f*ckin superwoman?!”“I… I’m sorry”“I’m definitely telling mom and dad about this” he declared and her eyes immediately widened.“Brother please, you can't do that”“Oh. You can do something and not be afraid. How could a superwoman like you be afraid of our parents.”“Please, Yuan. I pro
