She loved this life

She outstretched her hand casually towards Su Jing who received the handshake “Hi. Mo Xin Er”

“Su Jing. I’m Liuying's boyfriend. Nice to meet you”

“Oh. Nice to meet you too” But beneath her tongue, the words ‘I wouldn’t say the same. You’re disturbing my peace”

She smiled lightly. And began eating.

Su Jing looked at her dumbfounded. Okay, where was the usual pleasantries? She seemed like she would slaughter him if he said anything while she was eating.

He looked towards Fan Liuying again and they both glanced at the other two simultaneously, their thoughts perfectly the same

‘What a pair of weirdos. They'll make a good couple'

Truth be told, they both didn't realise how perfect their thoughts were. However, let's leave that for the future.

The dinner went that way, with a foodie concentrated on her food, a couple distributing dog food in the middle of a restaurant and a young man silently eating his meal, his eyes thoroughly fixed on the food.

“It's getting late now. We should go” Su King finally said turning towards his friend and the other nodded. He got up immediately, his face blank as he walked out of the restaurant. His friend sighed apologetically, probably used to his unpredictable behavior.

Mo Xin Er and Fan Liuying also got up and the three walked out of the restaurant, his hands on Fan Liuying's waist as they whispered sweet nothings to each other. Mo Xin Er glanced at the two, increasing her pace and walked towards the car. She leaned on one of the doors and rubbed her stomach. She looked quite adorable and Lu Yichen who stood about 20 meters away from her, would find this scene deeply etched in his memory.

Fan Liuying soon skipped towards her, beaming. She giggled waving towards Su King as she got in the car. Mo Xin Er couldn’t help but whistle as she got into the car. Soon, they were on their way to their hostel.

“I hope you enjoyed the meal” Fan Liuying finally said as she drove.

“I did. Their cuisines are top notch. What's the name, by the way? I’d like to other takeout from them someday.”

Fan Liuying gasped, finally finding her utterly weird. Who doesn’t remember the name of the place they ate? She found her totally absurd.

But Mo Xin Er's thoughts were different. She was too lazy and hungry to care about the name engraved in a squared block placed at the top of the restaurant.

“It’s name is Shimmer”

“Shimmer. Okay, thanks by the way”

“You’re welcome. What course are you offering?”

“Mass communications”

“Oh. You’re in arts”

“Yeah.”

“Lu Yichen is an arts student too. I bet, you too will be meeting quite a lot”

“Who?”

“Lu Yichen. It seems you guys didn’t talk the other time. He is Su Jing's friend” She replied and Mo Xin Er's mind finally darted towards the guy who sat down beside Fan Liuying's boyfriend.

“Oh,  I see”

She didn’t think much about the person. Nor did she expect them to be meeting a lot of times. But she remembered he was quite handsome.

“I study Veterinary Medicine”

“Oh, you’re in the sciences.” She remembered her brother was also in the sciences. Fan Liuying  could be of help if she ever wanted to go look for the trouble maker anyway.

“Su Jing is in sciences too. He always seem to follow me wherever I go” Fan Liuying muttered excitedly and Mo Xin Er turned to look at her, unsure of what to feel or say towards the other girl. She found her to be jovial and eager to make a friends. “Ah by the way, you’ve missed about two weeks of class. Is something wrong?”

“No. My mom didn't want us to leave her.” She remembered how much of a tantrum her mother made the day they received their admission letters. Unconsciously, she smiled.

They had been together for less than two years but she had grown attached to them as the were to her. She found that she was about to forge familial love with them. She learned that bonds weren't made out of blood. It was the desire to love and protect one another that forged unbreakable bonds.

Two years ago, she was on the streets. An eighteen year old looking for a job. She never forgot her will to avenge her mother. She had always found her death absurd. Her mother wasn’t an hooligan. Why would a group of gang come knocking on her door and wiped her cold? She had always wanted to find out and that desire didn’t change a bit.

A few weeks when she began to train, she would cry while using a punching bag. Then at some point she wouldn’t be able to control the urge to kill. She would let the will to revenge take control of her. Until her instructor, Scot finally noticed. He would beat her up making sure she would never be able to stand. He would say in her ears to never let revenge take control of her. She would get hit but still get up again. It was a sort of psychological punishment but she knew it worked well. One would think it was cruel but she knew well enough, that he was able to pull her back from her killing spree whenever it happened.

She was very grateful to him for that. Mo Xin Er sighed as she looked out of the window, the evening breeze splashing the windows and giving her a sense of peace. She was contented with this life. She had a family. One who loved her dearly. She had friends who cared about her. There was Zach, Annie, Su Ye. She had students she had impacted her knowledge into. She loved this life.

A sudden bump as they pulled into the driveway jolted her out of her thoughts. She didn’t realize that they reached school. They got out of the car and saw that a red Maserati bumped into the car's bumper.
