“How are we going to figure out Julianne? Any plans tonight?” Maximus asked Cassian who was busy dressing up. His hair was still damp from just getting out of shower and from the looks of it, he doesn’t intent on drying it.“It’s freshman party, Max. I would rather not do anything tonight,” replied Cassian.“Or…we could hunt for some fresh blood,” Remus suggested with a smile.Cassian quirked the corner of lips up and gave Remus a knowing look. “That makes sense,” he said and put on a black top.As they were leaving the room, Cassian turned to Maximus and seeing that he was not yet dressed, he asked, “Are you not coming?”“No,” Maximus answered.Remus turned to look at him at the same time and said, “Too bad. I heard Marianne would also be there.”On hearing her name, Maximus shut the door and Remus exchanged looks with Cassian who pulled his brows.“What about her?’ he asked him.“Oh, you didn’t know?” Remus gave a sniffled laugh and said, “I think Maximus has a thing for Marianne.”
Once classes ended on Friday morning, Julianne hurried to the dorm to pick out the dress she would wear for the freshman party that would take place by evening. Like Marianne said, she didn’t want to miss out on anything ‘fun’ so she wouldn’t be the one to regret it later. She emptied her wardrobe and realized she didn’t have something pretty to wear for the occasion. They were mostly cardigans and long-sleeved clothes with trousers. She couldn’t wear them because it would make her look odd. Discouraged, she sat back on the bed and decided to wait for Marianne to get back from the volunteer work she was doing. She was part of the people who were in charge of organizing the event.By 2 in the afternoon, most students started to return to the dorm. Thinking that Marianne would have been back, Julianne stepped out of the room and was about making her way towards her room when she sighted her just walking inside, and walking beside her was Velvet.“Julie,” Marianne called as she met up wi
“Cassian. Cassian!”“Is he dead?”There was the sound of footsteps receding and a door slightly creaking open.“What will we do? I heard that people died, but they managed to come back. I can’t believe they carried him all the way back.”“Is he still breathing?”“I don’t know. I thought the medicine I gave him earlier would be effective. He should have died in that house.”The door was shut and someone was breathing heavily.“What is it?”“It’s Remus family. They raided their home and there is no sign of life there.”Then a gasp.“What will we do? We can’t possibly manage to take care of three kids.”“That’s not the problem.”“Then what is?”Silence followed and the male voice spoke again, “The ones that got bitten are going rogue. They say they are possessed and needs to be killed before they kill us.”Another gasp. “Who did this? Gosh! I’m even scared of looking at those kids.”“It’s been two hours already. Any time from now, they will start showing symptoms if they also got bitten.
“Cassian.”Cassian opened his eyes slowly to see his mother’s face hovering above him. He felt her warm hand on his face and he blinked his eyes.“I have brought medicine. The doctor said it would help with the pain you are feeling and you can even recover quickly if you use it consistently.”Cassian could see his mother smile behind the pain she always carries, somehow convincing him that it would work this time and he would get better, but he knows it was all a lie. He overheard the doctor saying he has a bad heart and he didn’t have long to live. There were so many things he overheard while pretending to be asleep. His parent had fought all because of him, where his mother was telling his father that if they had another child, it would have been better and losing him would only cause little pain. Most of the time, he caught his mother checking if he was still breathing, or if he had died quietly. Knowing that his parents were wishing for his death earlier than death itself, it hur
“So, what did you tell him?” Marianne asked.Julianne laid on the bed, day dreaming about everything Lucien said and what the following weeks would look like. She had returned to the dorm to tell Marianne everything and somehow, a part of her couldn’t wait for the weekend to come and go.“Julianne?” Marianne called when she didn’t get a response from her.Julianne sat up and when Marianne saw her, she pulled her brows slightly.“This is unlike you. I’ve never seen you this happy. Are you sure you are okay?” she asked her.“I don’t know how I’m feeling too,” Julianne answered her. “It still looks like I’m dreaming. He asked me out in the library like a gentleman. I mean, he didn’t sound desperate or anything. We’ve met quite a few times, but I never thought he had anything for me. And those dreams…is it really possible that we were lovers in our past lives?”“Well…isn’t that what you were going to find out at first?” Marianne asked and was even confused as to how things were rushed so
“Have we, perhaps…met before?” Julianne asked with doubt written all over her face.“I should ask the same, but putting into consideration that we grew up in different places, I don’t think we’ve crossed paths before, not until you came to Blackthorn,” Lucien answered.Julianne thought about what he said and knew that he was right. Now what was more disturbing to her was that the dream she had was not when they were a child, rather, it was when they had become adults, like now.“I must have been mistaken then,” she said and tilted her head to the side, wondering why she kept having that recurrent dream if they hadn’t met before.“Is something bothering you?” Lucien asked.Julianne raised her eyes to look at him and sucked in a breath.Lucien, noticing that she had something to say but was hesitating, said to her, “It’s alright to tell me anything. I promise you, I’m not that bad a person.”It was not that Julianne could not tell him, but she was being careful so he won’t see her as th
