Iris:
I watched as Ezio stood in front of the woman. Her brown eyes were wide in surprise for a second before she managed to compose herself and nod. Playing the act of being boss, but knowing Ezio, the man would have her wrapped around his finger in a matter of seconds.
“I’m waiting” the woman said impatiently, keeping her eyes on Ezio. I had to fight back growling as I heard the woman’s heart quicken. She bit the inside of her mouth to keep herself from smiling in front of Ezio, his natural charisma already having an effect on her. I prayed that she didn’t hear my own racing heartbeat, my fists clenching involuntarily as I saw her eyeing him. His own attention was focused on her for a few seconds too long before he opened his mouth to speak.
“The woman is the most capable of them all. She’s obedient, smart, and is a fast learner. You won’t regret choosing to keep her” Ezio said confidently, his voice gentler than it was a few minutes ago. His eyes were fixed on the woman, forcing me to fight back, strangling and banging both their heads. My own heart ached at the sight, but I remained composed as I looked at her, waiting for her response. We couldn’t fail after arriving this far, we just couldn’t.
“I wouldn’t have brought her with me if I didn’t know her capabilities”
“Fine, we’ll test her out and see” she said, looking me up and down. Her eyes filled with disgust “I’ll guide you to your room, you will shower and get that filth off you. The pack doctor will check on that stupid wound of yours, I don’t want to deal with any infections. Then you will come to me for further instructions”
“Yes…”
“Beta Miley” she said, answering my question. I nodded, lowering my head to the ground as she walked toward one of the houses, the biggest house of them all “follow me”
Doing as told, I was sure to keep my eyes on the ground throughout the whole way, not bothering to look at those who were murmuring about the ‘new slave’ who just arrived to their pack. However, not noticing that the beta stopped her tracks, I bumped into her, causing her to trip.
“You little bitch!” She snapped turning to face me. Her hand collided with my face before I could say a word, and forcing myself to remain still, I simply looked down at the ground as the area stung. The woman’s chest rose and fell as she breathed, and raising myself to stand tall, I lowered my gaze to avoid her eyes, avoiding annoying her anymore than I already have.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that you had stopped” I said, closing my eyes.
“You should be thankful that the slave’s master recommended you. Otherwise, you would have been thrown out the second you set foot on this pack’s ground” she snarled before walking inside the house. Opening my eyes, I glared at Ezio who watched the whole scene, his own eyes wide in fury and fists clenched in anger “IN!”
I walked inside at the call of the woman only for her to grab me by my neck, pinning me to the wall as she choked me “I don’t know why he chose you over all people, but if I see one mistake from you. The simplest one, I assure you, you will be ripped to pieces before being fed to the wolves, do you understand me?”
“Yes, beta” I said, placing my hand on her arm in an attempt to have her loosen her tight grip. The woman growled for a second before banging me against the wall behind me, my head hitting it before she let me go. Watching as I slid down the wall, I held my throbbing head to find that it was bleeding. Miley rolled her eyes at me and nodded at one of the maids who was watching from a distance, not daring to approach.
“Take her to the room assigned to her. The doctor would check her, I want her checked thoroughly, virginity and all. If the woman is any good, I would consider sending her to the Alpha. He could use a little pleasure” she walked away, leaving me on the ground as I fought to regain my balance, needing to get up. The maid approached me, leaning down to help me stand.
“Come on, she would grow angry if she sees that you’re still here when she gets back”
****************************
My head snapped toward the door which opened slowly. My head throbbing at the sudden movement, but I didn’t care; I wasn’t going to risk myself in this rotten place.
It was a while past midnight, and seeing that almost everyone was asleep; I braced myself for the worst of who was to come. However, catching the scent of Ezio, I couldn’t help but glare at the man when he approached me.
The dim lights which illuminated the bedroom enabled him to see my expression which was as cold as ice toward him. He went to touch my bruised cheek, having seen me being slapped by the beta, I knew that he had every instinct not to attack the woman. I glared at him, grabbing his hand midair and pushing it away roughly.
“Go ahead to your beta…” he wrapped his arms around me before I could say a word. The woman listened to him without flinching. The way she looked at him. How he spoke to her. All that played in my head as I looked at him.
“My loyalty is yours and yours alone, Iris” he said stopping me. He kissed the crown of my head, relaxing me almost instantly. I wrapped my own arms around his neck, standing on my toes as to do so, seeking my peace in him.
“You need to get some rest. The day has been long enough as it is” he whispered gently, lifting me in his arms. He took me to the bed and slowly laid on it with me in his arms. He ran his fingers through my hair and I couldn’t help but flinch when he touched the bump that Miley did a while earlier. Pulling his hand, Ezio’s eyes hardened when he saw blood on his fingers.
“The little beta decided to be aggressive when we entered the house. Their doctor checked on it, she applied medication on it, but it would be a while before the bleeding stopped” Ezio let out a low growl, tightening his arm around my shoulders, pulling me to lay on his chest as he gently massaged my shoulders, soothing me. His own heart raced as he fought to calm himself and his wolf down, and kissing his chest, right over where his heart was beating, I knew that it did the trick almost instantly.
“I will make her pay for what she did to you…”
“Ezio…”
“Don’t worry, I will be patient. We just got here, and killing her would be way too easy. We’ll take our small time enjoying this” he whispered, kissing my temple “now, get some rest, princess, we’ll talk about this tomorrow”
Ezio:I smiled, wrapping my arm around my beauty as we looked at our pack members. Our pack’s features finally started showing as each day passed when a Lycan showed up, or one found his or her mate, increasing our number. It has been six months since everything happened, and to say that the two of us were finally happy being together would not be a lie. The drama, and our revenge was finally over. Now, we had ourselves to see and pay attention to, rather than focus on a man we wanted nothing more than to kill. “Good morning, baby girl” I smiled, kissing her cheek from behind. Iris smiled, leaning into my touch, putting a hand on my cheek.“Good morning to you too” she said, raising her head to look at me.I smiled despite her racing heartbeat and the fatigue that I could see in her eyes. She has been in this state for the past two days, and regardless of how many times I told her to go to the hospital, Iris refused to have a doctor touch her. “Baby girl, can you at least promise me
Iris:I watched as the guests who were going to attend the funeral arrived. Their eyes scanned the surroundings as they searched for the Alpha, his death not being announced yet. Cassandra wanted to be there to see the eyes of those who have allowed her discrimination when she begged for help years back. It seemed like the woman had lived through a lot more than she let out, but Ezio and I made sure not to pressure her into speaking about what she didn’t want to.“Ezio, Iris?” Marissa, the Raven Claw’s pack Luna asked her mate, Daniel, standing by her side as the pair looked at us “what is going on here? I’m sure that you didn’t come here to attend the funeral”I looked down at my feet, not wanting to be questioned about the subject anymore than necessary. Ezio extended his hand at Daniel who shook his hand in return “how are you two? We didn’t expect you to be here to begin with”“We have to say the same about you two, especially judging by…” Daniel didn’t need to complete his sente
Ezio:I watched as the pack members assembled upon seeing me, wanting to submit to me as an Alpha instead of Cassandra.“Why is she the Alpha?” A girl asked, looking down at her feet “the rules say that whoever kills the Alpha is in charge, why did you give up your position?”“I never came here to be an Alpha” I said, looking down at the child “Cassandra was Ryker’s mate, and believe it or not, I know that she would be better at this position than I ever would be”“Plus, we won’t be leaving completely, if anything, we would be your pack’s new allies” Iris said, smiling at the girl. She looked up at us before hugging Iris, burying her head on her chest as she took a deep breath.“You are the only two who have helped us overcome our fears in this pack” she said, looking up at Iris. I smiled, remembering the day where she told the pack members that she wouldn’t hurt any of them before Ryker came out, reminding them that she SHOULD be fearing him if they wished to live within the pack’s g
Iris:I watched as Cassandra spoke to Ariana, trying to explain to her that she was her mother. The child was quiet as she listened, and Katerina stood, looking at both Ezio and I for a second.“You two did a good job” she said, breaking my train of thoughts. I frowned in confusion, looking at the woman who motioned for us to walk toward the veranda, giving the mother and her daughter their privacy. “What are you talking about, Katerina?” Ezio asked, crossing his arms over his chest. His muscles flexed as he looked at her, and despite the wound on his shoulder, I knew that he would be attacking her if needed. “You united a mother with her daughter, and killed the one poison that was not only ruining the pack, but the child too” she said, looking at the two of us.“You knew about her?” I asked, voicing out my confusion. Katerina simply smiled as a response, turning around to look at the bloodied field. The pack members and the Lycans were cleaning everything up, clearing out the spac
Ezio:I watched as the pack members started their training, preparing for the day’s shift before Iris walked out of the house.Alpha Ryker stood in the middle of the field, watching the pack members as they trained, his eyes lost as he stared into space, clearly trying to process the death of his sister. “Alpha” Iris said, approaching him. She handed him a glass of water to which he nodded and took a sip of “do you mind if I sit?”He looked up at her before nodding, watching as she sat down, her eyes meeting mine for a second before she turned her attention to the Alpha “how was Ariana today? Did she accept that she’s being homeschooled?” “No, but she would eventually. She just needs time to either process that it is the better option for her, or she would end up trying to convince you to send her back to school with her friends” Iris said, looking down at her lap. “I’m guessing that she has every right to want to go back to school, her balance has been stirred, but then again, for
Iris:“Morning” Cassandra told Ezio and I when she saw us walking out of the bedroom she told us to stay in, entering the sitting room where we saw her yesterday. The whole floor was designed as an apartment for her, and I was surprised to see that Alpha Ryker, regardless of the anger he had toward her, made sure that she was as comfortable as she possibly could be.“Good morning” Ezio said, answering her. He kept his arm wrapped around me as we walked out of the room, mostly assuring me that things were going to be okay. The two of us could barely talk about anything last night, not wanting to risk her hearing us, or getting on her bad side. “I take it that you two are ready?” She asked, getting up from her chair just as we heard the room’s door open. Ezio and I hid by the door, waiting for the maid to come before I grabbed her from the back, snapping her neck before she could make a sound. The maid dropped the tray that she had with her, falling limp on the ground as she took her
