Chapter 4 – New Secretary

Dhruv’s POV

"Dum," I heard her lovingly speak my nickname through her lips, and it made me grin as I opened my eyes to see her gorgeous face next to me.

When I was about to stroke her beautiful face that I miss so much, "Ron" I called her sweetly, but as my hand touched her face, she disappeared completely in front of me, leaving me confused and alone in the place that made me rise up to look for her in my surroundings, and as I kept looking, she was nowhere to be found.

“RON! " I yelled for her, expecting she'd come out, and she simply laughed at me for not finding her right away.

"I'm sorry, Dhruv," I heard her heartbroken voice say repeatedly, but I couldn't even see her.

I glance around eagerly for her, thinking she's just there with her grin, but as the mins later, I realize I'll never find her. "Why are you sorry, Ron?" Why did you abandon me? WHY?! " I questioned her loudly as tears streamed down my cheeks.

"I'm sorry, Dhruv," I kept hearing her say, but I couldn't see her anywhere.

"Damn it, Ranie, I DON'T NEED YOUR APOLOGY, ALL I NEED IS AN EXPLAINATION WHY?!?" " I yelled furiously in the air, begging for me to understand why she did it.

"I'm sorry, Dhruv," her voice faded into the silence.

NO, Ranie, please come back! I screamed furiously to her, but then there was a burst of light that blinded me.

When I opened my eyes, there was a silhouette in front of me, so I blinked to focus to see what that shadow was. When my eyesight progressively improved, my eyes opened to see Ranie in front of me, as if she were actually there, and my entire body rose from the chair in shock.

“Ranie?! " I said, stunned, with incredulity in my voice.

“Ranie? Sir, who is that person? " I was asked by an unknown woman.

When I returned to reality after hearing the woman's voice, I temporarily forgot about Ranie and focused my sight on the person in front of me, who is staring at me with a bewildered expression.

"Who the f**k are you?!?" " I yelled aggressively at the woman.

"Me?" the lady questioned, pointing to herself. "My name is Nisha Ebony Damore, and I was hired to be your secretary, sir." She responded, explaining her identity and why she was here.

Who was it who employed her? However, I did not employ anyone!

"How come I didn't hire you though?!" "I retorted fiercely.

She gave me a hesitant smile and tapped her head, saying, "Ahm, your wife hired me? " She stated once again.

I slammed the top of my desk violently when I heard her refer to Isolabella as my wife, which she is not, and I'm not sure why, but I'm even more enraged when this woman refers to that b*t*h as my wife " SHE IS NOT MY WIFE! " I yelled violently and glared aggressively at the woman.

"So, sister?" " The woman naively fixed her mistake.

"THAT B*T*H DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE MY SISTER!" " I said again, this time more irritated with her.

"Anyway, someone hired me!" "The woman murmured; her cheeks flushed with humiliation.

Cute.

What the earth are you thinking, Dhruv? I chastised myself for referring to someone I didn't know as cute. This is due to the fact that I am still drunk, which is why I spoke such words; I tried explaining to myself privately.

"Anyway, you need to leave my office, and I don't need someone like you or anybody to be my secretary," I said as I sat back down on my chair.

My phone suddenly rang, so I took it up from my desk and answered the call.

[“Hello? "] I said hello to the person who had called.

["Don't you dare make the person I hired leave Ruv,"] Lionel said on the other end of the line.

[" Lionel, are you the one who employed this woman?! I told you I didn't require one! "] I scolded Lionel when I responded to him.

["Yes, and you truly need one Ruv, as I witnessed yesterday on how your workplace became a dumping ground for rubbish, I was certain you need one"] Lionel remarked sincerely to me, providing evidence.

["But I still don't need anyone! "] With an irritated tone, I continue to tell him that I don't want it.

["Are you sure about that Ruv, since I don't trust you, based on how long you sought and long on that woman, we both know is dead already and that is the actual proof you need someone"] Lionel said realities.

["Having a secretary is something quite different! "] I retorted to him.

["No, it isn't, and if you persist on forcing the person I hired go, I will tell Isolabella everything,”] Lionel snarled, threatening me that he would tell that bitch everything.

What the hell is he thinking? Why would he say that scumbag everything? All I've done for the past 17 years will be ruined. Isolabella must be unaware of my investigation into Ranie's death and the chance that she is still alive.

["Are you trying to threaten me, Bastard?" "] I yelled aggressively at him, pointing out the obvious.

["Obviously dumb head, so think carefully dear friend, have that secretary or make your wife know about what you did for the past 17 years- oh wait, your so-called wife I mean"] Lionel gave me set choices to choose with a teasing voice ["ah and I am serious with what I said and will do it"] He added before he ended the call.

Because of my rage, I threw my phone angrily to the ground, damn that bastard threatening and mocking me at the same time, Lionel, are you truly my friend or my bully? " LIONEL, F**K YOU! " I screamed fiercely at him.

“Sir?” The woman spoke again in hush tones.

I cast a peek at the woman I had forgotten was still in my office, and she stood in front of me, perplexed by what she had witnessed. I analyze the woman and how she exhibited herself in front of me, as well as how her face changed as she felt embarrassed to be watched and tried to hide it by looking elsewhere. I simply inspected her for approximately ten minutes to decide if I should let this woman stay and work as my secretary or not.

"Ahm...sir, if you don't like me as your secretary, I'll just leave as what you-" she didn't continue her statement as I rose up and walked near her, which surprised the woman.

"Alright, you'll be my secretary," I said as I pushed my head closer to her face, gazing straight as if I was seeking for something in her eyes.

"What are you doing, Sir?" The woman questioned reverently as she moved me away from her with her arm.

Cute.

I keep thinking about that term, but I can't help myself since the woman in front of me is making lovely motions that make me think of it. This woman reminds me of a little squirrel who is easily intimidated by what you do to animal. This tiny squirrel makes me want to torment her even more and see how she behaves.

I'd want to tease her even more.

So, I take her arm, which she used to push away and shift to the side, and I bring my face closer to her again, plainly taunting her. "You..." I began in hushed tones, without continuing my statement.

Her expression got frightened as she looked me in the eyes with uncertainty. As I was pleased with her expression, I smirked and motioned with my head as I spoke to her, "Move," I added.

“Huh?! " She questioned, puzzled, still staring at me.

"You are obstructing my path to where my phone is," I said bitterly, motioning to her back where my phone had landed after I had thrown it minutes before.

I can see her shock and disbelief on her face, followed by her face going bright red with embarrassment.

Nisha’s POV

I feared he learned that I am Ranie Oleen Nach, which caused my heart to race erratically! When he stared at me as if he'd found my disguise, it felt like my life had been cut short by 7 years!

Oh, crap! I didn't anticipate my grandma to betray and deceive me in this way, which is why, deep down, I had a nagging sensation something was really wrong with the mission, but I disregarded it.

"Are you sure you're not going to move? " Dhruv inquired again in a chilly tone, his face still near to mine.

Damn, this is so unfair; his face is still attractive after 17 years, and I am still captivated with him.

I shoved his arm, which was still clutching my arm, and pulled my body away from his to give him room while also recomposing myself and allowing my hammering heart to slow down. Wait a minute, granny, I need your explanation for everything!

I heard him giggle as he picked up his phone, which was not damaged despite being hurled by him minutes before. He returned to his chair and smiled at me again, "You what are you waiting for?" " He asked me again, his grin fading.

"What am I supposed to do?" I questioned, baffled by what he was trying to convey.

"Are you a moron? Do what a secretary does! " He yelled at me.

I'm still not sure what he meant when he stated to me, "Which is? " I questioned once again.

I know what a secretary's job is, but I'm not sure whether we agree on what a secretary does. Anyway, why would I work with him when I have a history with him? I should deny the offer and just state that I can't be his secretary for a variety of reasons.

In an astonished expression, I clapped both of my hands together to show that I finally understood what he meant. “Yes, I should leave immediately," I murmured aloud, bowing to him before turning around to leave.

I didn't wait for his response and swiftly exited his office. When I left his office, I took out my phone and dialed the number for my grandma as I walked towards the elevator, which was already open, and I stepped inside.

While I was waiting for the elevator to come down and also for my grandma to pick up my call, everything that had happened minutes before simply hit me like a ton of bricks, and I saw the guy I loved in front of me after 17 years of yearning for him.

But it's still not a good idea for us to meet again; all I've done in the past will be for naught if he finds out I'm still alive; it's better that I leave this country as soon as possible. When the elevator finally arrived at the bottom floor, I walked outside, and my phone call to grandmother was answered.

["Oh my, how was the job? Did you already assassinate him?" "] Grandmother inquired as soon as she received my call.

As soon as I exited the building, I hailed a taxi that had stopped in front of me, and I hurriedly hopped inside, giving the address of my apartment.

["Grandmother, give me an explanation!" "] I yelled aggressively at her, demanding that she explain what had happened moments ago.

["Oh, so you still didn't murder him, well I anticipated you couldn't do it dear,"] Grandmother replied, dismayed.

[“Grandmother! "] I yelled angrily at her over the phone.

[“Well, if you try to leave the country right now dear, you’ll regret it”] Grandmother said threatening me

["Why should I regret it, grandmother? because I already regretted trusting your words, grandma! "] I replied to her with a hurtful tone in my voice.

["Dear, I apologize for deceiving you by lying, but this is the only method I know to get you to go to him because if I tell you to go to him, you'll simply argue and won't listen to me,"] Grandmother said to me.

Well, she is correct about that part when I disagree with her and refuse to do what she asks me to do, but what she has done is still wrong!

["I'm going home right now, and that's the end of it!" "] I told my grandma about my intentions.

["Dear please, you are making a huge mistake if you go right now-"] I cut the phone before grandmother complete her statement.

I don't want to listen to lies any longer; all I want to do is get out of here as soon as possible.
