Freya POV

As usual, speaking to him was easy.

Saying things about me including my deepest fears — something I'd sworn to myself I would never do with any man.

But with Caelan, my guards were always let down. It was almost always impossible to uphold those standards.

I watched his expression carefully, searching for a reason not to go further.

But his expression was calm and his eyes, dark but focused on me. He was unflinched by my declaration of fear.
