CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Irene kept to her words and went to Stephanie’s house the next day, she walked in when Stephanie opened the door looking pale and weak. "Please sit," Stephanie said, pointing at a small purple cushion beside the window, "should I get tea or water?”

“None, I’m fine,” Irene replied, using her hand to cover her eyes.

"Are you crying? Did George do something wrong?” Stephanie asked, trying to play nice and trusting.

Heaving a sigh, Irene uttered regretfully, "George is good, Stephanie, I am the bad one.”

"How do you mean the a bad one?" Stephanie asked, drawing her chair closer.

Irene sniffled and wiped away her tears, "never mind, can I have the tea?"
