BEING MRS BILLIONAIRE

Evelyn's POV

There are times I never wish to be born into a wealthy family. Especially being the only heir to the family's empire. Too many expectations of me from my family. I never wished or asked for it.

Most times, I find myself doing things I don't want to do. For instance, I am currently preparing to be engaged to a man I have never met before in my life. And that in a week now. Isn't that sad?

I know you will agree with me. I am supposed to find love and not the other way around. I was brought up and had been trained to follow my Grandfather's every command.

Being the only heir to my family's empire. My family get to choose who I get married to. It appears to be in my best interests. It is one of those things my mother always tells me growing up. I don't get to choose who to love.

My family is into construction. We owned the largest construction company in Richbouph. Which is Carter Construction Company. My grandfather is the company's chairman, and my father is the company's  CEO Well, it happened that my father is the only child of my grandparents.

I, on the other hand, am an only child too. So, you see why everything is the way it is.

I found out recently that my soon-to-be fiance is the richest man in Richbouph and his company has been doing business with mine for a long time now. Only I've not met him in person.

Also, his grandfather is my grandfather's best friend. Making me a tool in strengthening their friendship.

But I also have my plans.

My fingers ache from long typing on my office computer keyboard as I am trying to round up on some work.

My office door busted open, and without looking, I already knew the one person who lacked the courtesy to knock before entering my office.

Scarlet

"Carter". She greeted me by using my surname. Scarlet never uses my first name. It has been a habit of hers since college. And I am used to it.

"Hi". I responded standing up from my office chair and trying to fix my desk as I retired from today's work.

Scarlet made herself comfortable by sitting on the white two-seater sofa in my office. Tapping her flats on my office's wooden floor.

Picking up my designer black bag. I made my way to her. I sat on a single sofa across from her, and I raised a brow in questioning her, knowing that something was bothering her.

"What happened? Spill". I asked.

She looked me straight in the eyes and I saw tears dripping down her face. "Simon cheated on me with his secretary". She sniffed.

"Wow, that was expected. Look, I am sorry, bestie. But I warned you about him. Now, look at yourself crying all messed up because of a guy who isn't worth your time". I sighed and she gave me a warning look.

"Ok. I am sorry. It has happened and there is nothing you can do about it. That guy is a dick. And you know it". I don't know how to make her feel better.

"I need to feel good. Can we go clubbing tonight?". She suggested.

"I was about to suggest the same thing. Come, let's go". I pulled her in for a tight hug and patted her back before leaving my office.

We climbed into my black SUV and I drove off to my condo.

I left my family's mansion last year after I celebrated my 24th year birthday. Not that I don't enjoy staying with my family. I love them and I enjoyed staying with them. It's just that, I need my privacy. Even though my father was against me getting a place for myself. My grandfather encouraged me since I always listened to him.

I looked at my best friend beside me who was now sleeping. Her beautiful blond hair now covers her face.

I braked down at the red light. Trying to fix her hair. I saw dark circles under her eyes and it broke my heart to know that she was hurting all because of that Jack of a guy.

I fixed her hair and looked forward. The green light came on. So, I sped up and drove to my place.

We arrived at the club. I was dressed in a strapless short black gown that revealed my cleavage. I paired it with my black stilettos And my dark brown hair is tied up in a high ponytail. And my face was caked up in heavy makeup.

Scarlet is dressed in a red crop top and a red short skirt. Her straight blonde was down cascading her back. She also paired her dress with black pumps. I helped to do her makeup, and I added a lot of concealer to cover the dark circles under her eyes.

Dropping my keys with the valet. We made our way inside the club. The place was booming with loud music and Scarlet's mood was changing as we approached the luxurious bar to get our drinks.

We sat on the bar stools and the bartender came and took our order.

"Beautiful ladies, what would you like to drink" Winking at us.

I smirked at him causing him to blush a little. "Espresso martini for me". I winked back at him.

Scarlet gazed at me and she protested. "Don't even start flirting with him. He is mine" She touched the handsome bartender's cheek and he kissed her palm. So, what should I get you gorgeous?". He asked Scarlet.

" Vodka, lime, and soda will be fine with me". She said seductively.

"Ok, I will be right back with your orders". He winked again.

"Babe, you need to get laid tonight. So, don't get drunk on me". I teased.
