Mirabelle's POV

It has been three days since I last saw that monster. He just abandoned me here, but it is not as if I even want to see him.

The thought repeated in my head as I polished the same silver candlestick for the fifth time. The grand dining table was long, and it needed to be perfect.

He said I would be a maid, and he meant it. For three days, my life was dusting, polishing, and silence. He gave an order and vanished.

Celeste moved around the room, as she checked my work. She did

  • BENEATH THE MAFIA'S BULLET   Chapter 12

Theo's POV I sat behind the massive oak desk in my private office as the morning sun cast long shadows across stacks of reports. The background check on Mirabelle Brown lay open in front of me and every detail of her modest life stared back; her coffee shop job, her devoted mother and brother.I rubbed my temple as Irritation built inside my chest. I should focus on the Marseille situation. Marc had sent another warning about unknown attackers but Instead my mind kept drifting back to soft brown eyes, defiant words, and the way she had trembled under my hand last night; soaked, flushed and fighting her own desire."Fuck," I muttered and pushed away from the desk.I stood up and walked to the private gym attached to my office and stripped off my shirt. My muscles flexed as I started my usual brutal routine; hit the heavy bag hard, each punch landed with force. But my phone rang and estopped and answered it."Talk," I said.Xavier’s voice came through, smooth and amused. "Morning,

  • BENEATH THE MAFIA'S BULLET   Chapter 11

Mirabelle's POVMorning light filtered softly through the heavy gray curtains of my luxurious prison. For a few blissful seconds after waking, I simply lay there, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling, my mind pleasantly blank. My body felt heavy, the silk sheets cool against my heated skin. Then the memories crashed over me like a wave.Theo’s hand wrapped around my throat, the heat of his body between my thighs, his lips hovering barely a breath from mine and the way my traitorous body had arched toward him, wet and ready to surrender. The almost-kiss that had left me trembling with shame and need.Heat flooded my cheeks as I pressed my palms to my face, mortified at the memory of the soft, desperate sound I had made. My neck still tingled where his thumb had stroked my pulse and even now, a low throb of unwanted arousal pulsed between my legs. But his cruel words sliced through the haze like a blade. “You’re nothing to me. A debt, a means to an end, an inconvenience I’m starting to r

Mirabelle's POV “I’m starving, Theo. Give me something to eat.”“Do I look like a cook to you,” Theo's voice answered from the hallway, his voice cold and flat.“Ahh. The title suits you,” the other man voice was rich, as he laughed lightly.Celeste put her knife down as she wiped her hands on her apron, a small smile touched her lips. “These two,” she whispered.I furrowed my brows, as I wondered who spoke to Theo like that? Celeste walked toward the door, while I followed her.We entered the main hall. Theo stood near the staircase, he was dressed in a dark grey suit, his green eyes fixed on the man leaning against the front door. The man was handsome, in a completely different way from Theo. Where Theo was sharp and cold, this man was all loose charm and dangerous grace. He had dark, messy hair, a blue almond eyes that seemed to laugh at everything. He wore a black t-shirt, tucked under a black tailored trouser, matched with a pair of expensive shoe. He had the look of a playboy

Celeste moved around the room, as she checked my work. She did not speak much, but she was kind, like a mother bird watching a strange chick in her nest, and I had started to see her as a friend, the only person in this cold house who did not look at me with threat or pity.I finished the last candlestick, we I placed it exactly in the center of the table. “It looks good,” Celeste said, her voice soft.“Thank you,” my voice was low but steady, as a small smile played on my lips.“The sitting room needs vacuuming..”I nodded, as I picked up the cleaning too

Lea’s POV"Ugh! Today is so stressful," I said, my gaze fixed on the crowd. The coffee shop shift was long, but the bar shift was longer. The air was thick with smoke and cheap perfume, as the music filled the room, adding to the stress.I carried a heavy tray of empty glasses back to the bar, as I dropped it while looking at my red hands.I needed the money, I always needed the money. I was an orphan and for me, it means my life was work."New customers, Lea take it!" My manager said, as he pointed to a table in the corner. My gaze drifted to the direction, it was a man with two women. "Gosh! I hope this customer is nice," my voice was low but steady, as I walked towards them."What can I get you?" I said, putting on my flat, professional smile. And then, his blue almond eyes met mine. The man was leaning back in his chair, utterly relaxed, like he owned not just the table but the entire room. His hair was dark and perfectly messy in a way that looked expensive, and dangerous. He ha

  • BENEATH THE MAFIA'S BULLET   Chapter 7

Mirabelle’s POV “Oh my God! I forgot my night wears,” the thought hit me as I stood dripping on the marble bathroom floor. A towel was wrapped around me, my skin warm from the shower. I had ignored the dinner Celeste brought until I freshen up. Now I needed clothes.I walked into the bedroom, my small bag sat on a chair as I opened it. I pulled out the few things I packed; jeans, a t-shirt, a sweater, an underwear. But there was no nightdress, no soft pants, no comfortable shirt. My gaze drifted to the closet as I remembered what Celeste said. I quickly stood up, my lips in a deep frown. The closet was large, it held dresses, silk blouses, tailored trousers. Everything was expensive, everything was for show. There was nothing soft, nothing for sleeping.“Gosh!! What should I do. Why now! Why me!,” I said, as I sat on the bed, massaging my forehead softly. But a small smile spread on my lips as I remembered Celeste’s words, “If you you need anything, press the button by the bed.”
