CHAPTER 14: A PAST MEMORY IS REKINDLED

Cara lowered her son down carefully without taking her eyes off the man who stood in front of her. A rush of various emotions spun through her body, some sweet, most bitter.

Her face broke into a small smile but it quickly evolved back into a frown.

"Well well well, if it isn't Jason Pierce," her voice reeked of sarcasm mixed with pain.

Jason wondered where his sweet Cara had gone.

"Cara, I, I uhmmmm," his words came out in bits. He scratched his head, knowing fully well that he had nothing to say.

"Mummy, do you know him?" Mason filled the brewing silence between them.

The word mummy took Jason by surprise, his eyes widened and unconsciously his hand went over his lips.

"Mummy?" Jason repeated, wearing the most surprised look. "Mason is your son?"

"What do you care about? Nothing, just you and you alone. As far as I'm concerned I'm done with you."

She grabbed Mason by the hand and led him away. Jason, still frozen at the same spot, battled his emotions as different memories came cras
