Musa stiffened.

I felt the tension snapping through him, the restrained fury he swallowed back.

“This better not be true. He can’t treat my sister this way.”

Why is he referring to me as his sister again?

However, that’s not my problem now.

“Why? Why did he do this? He shouldn’t have come into my life and left like that. Haven’t I been hurt enough? He knows enough of my pathetic life, yet he did this?”

After a few minutes of listening to my venting and cries, Musa pulled me back just enough to look at my face.

“Did you call him?”

I shook my head, tears blurring my vision.

“I’m scared,” I whispered. “I don’t know what he’ll say.”

Musa exhaled slowly.

“Maybe something came up. Emergencies happen. You should be sure before crying yourself to death! And talking about dying!!"

He snapped in annoyance.

“But… but…”

“Stop letting your fears get to you. You are a beautiful woman, Charlotte. A sister of mine can’t be seen getting so heartbroken like this.”
