James
“Miss Marina’s recovery is so impressive. It was a really slim chance she was going to make it…” the doctor rambled as we stepped out of the room and I struggled with focusing on what he was talking about when I was excited out of my mind.
I already lost hope about Marina. For three years all I wanted was for her to wake up, and she finally did. My mate and my partner was awake and I felt more alive than I’ve felt for the past years.
It has been really hard these few years. Everyone knew I was the heir of Wood company, a multimillion dollar company, but no one, except Marina and my Grandfather knew I am the Alpha of the Wood pack that was almost completely destroyed three years ago when our enemies ambushed us and slaughtered everyone of our members. I would have died, but Marina saved me just in time.
But I lost my wolf and she landed in a coma.
The thing I craved the most was revenge against my enemies. I needed them to feel the pain they put my members through. My only way of doing that was waiting for Marina to wake up because my grandfather refused to help with resources. He wanted children.
“You need to have babies, James! You are my only grand child. I can’t die without having grandchildren!” He always shouts and I always promise him I was going to give him a grandchild.
But now that Marina was awake, I could get the thing most important to me.
And that was revenge.
“So Marina would need to rest and be taken care of at all times, and she would need to be in a wheelchair…” the doctor droned on but my mind reminded me of my lost wolf.
Ever since the battle, I lost connection to my wolf, maybe now Marina was up, I’ll be able to get it back-
“Mate!”
My wolf growled in my head, my lost wolf growled in my head!
A shocked gasp left my lips, and I shot up in my chair, causing the doctor to go silent in shock.
“What’s the problem, Mr James? Is something wrong?” He called but his voice faded from the background as I tuned into my mind.
It was empty just like earlier, but my wolf just spoke.
‘Hey! Are you there? Did you say something?’ I screamed into the abyss of my mind, but it echoed back just like the last three years.
A frustrated sigh left my lips. He spoke. He said something.
“Mr James.” The doctor touched my arm, looking at me strangely. “Are you okay?”
I blinked, getting back consciousness. “Yes I’m-“
A strong scent hit me out of nowhere, stealing my attention from the doctor.
What is that smell? A groan left my lips as the most delicious smell infiltrated my nostrils and I began sniffing the air, trying to trace it.
“Mr James?” The doctor called again but I ignored him as my feet followed the scent.
The scent landed me in front of Marina’s ward and I stared at it, confused.
What could be giving out such scent?
My legs carried me until I entered the room and my feet froze as I discovered where or who the scent was coming from.
Rosa?
My docile wife and Marina’s doctor Rosa?
“She almost hurt me!” Marina screamed from the floor and I rushed to help her, but I couldn’t pay attention to anything else as my eyes kept drawing to Rosa.
Why did she smell that way? It was so delicious and sweet.
For the past few years, I haven’t seen her in this light and now that her intoxicating scent was hypnotising me, I couldn’t function and think straight.
“I don’t need her anymore!” Marina yelled into Rosa’s face as she complained about Rosa, and I tried my best to focus on Marina, but I couldn’t.
I had to send Rosa to cover her wounds so I could focus, but her scent was everywhere.
“James. Divorce that woman.” Marina said immediately after Rosa left.
A sigh left my lips as she said those words. Now that I was smelling such a powerful scent from Rosa, I can’t divorce her.
It was so strange, and my wolf spoke. She was connected to something and I needed to find out what it was.
Could she be my mate? But that would mean I had two mates.
That was impossible… This is crazy.
Her teary eyes met mine as she sniffled. “You replaced me,James. I was barely unconscious and you replaced me as fast as you could.” she whispered, but i was having trouble concentrating when it was only Rosa’s scent i could smell around the room.
I cleared my throat, berating myself. That wasn't being fair to Marina. I placed a hand softly on Marina’s shoulder as I held her close and looked straight into her eyes. “I could never replace you, Marina. She was just the help, nothing more.”
Marina’s gaze met mine again. “But now we do not need her anymore. Why don’t you want to let her go so we can continue with our motive?”
A sigh left my lips as I placed a hand softly on Marina’s chin and staring into her blood shot eyes. “I cannot divorce Rosalind, Marina.”
Anger flashed in her eyes. “Why James? I don’t want her here! Why aren’t you listening to me?”
Taking a deep breath to think things through, I knew the only way she could allow Rosalind to stay was if she felt it was necessary , so lied through my teeth.
“Because, Rosa is a very useful maid, Marina. She’s the only one who knows your situation and if I got divorced from her, I wouldn’t be able to find a maid who can handle you as well as she does. You matter so much to me Marina, and as soon as you are fine, Rosalind would be out of our lives as soon as possible, and you would never lay eyes on her again.”
The acceptance in her eyes as I uttered those words I didn’t believe and certainly didn’t mean had me letting out a breath of relief, but that was gone as soon as the door burst wide open and a livid Rosa stepped into the room.
My already heavy heart sank the minute I took her expression and I heard the word divorce slip from her mouth.
No, please don’t, Rosa.
“I want a divorce.” Rosa cried and a part of me felt angry at myself for making her cry. I jumped up from my chair and walked up to her without thinking twice.
“No Rosalind, all those things…” I started, reaching out to touch her arm but she slapped it away angrily, shocking me even more.
“Don’t touch me! I never want to hear whatever you have to say!”
Frustration built within me. This wasn’t what I planned. Rosa cannot divorce me. I have to find out why she caused a reaction in my wolf and divorcing me would make that hard.
“Rosa please, this is a bad idea, rethink this decision.” I urged, and she scoffed.
“Why should I rethink my decision? You don’t want to lose your nice little maid, right?” She eyed me in disgust.
“No Rosa, that’s not it-“
“Then if it’s not it, send Marina away.”
My eyes widened at her request and from behind me, Marina screamed, “that’s impossible!”
Rosa ignored Marina, her eyes stayed on me as she expected my reply but I shook my head in a negative way.
“I can’t, Rosa.”
I couldn’t send Marina away, she’s the key to getting the revenge we deserve.
Rosa shook her head, and the look of disappointment she gave me broke my heart. “That’s what I thought. Expect my divorce contract soon.” She spat, and after shooting Marina a dirty look, she walked away.
But I couldn’t let her go. I have to stop her.
“Rosa!” I called as I rushed out after her, but a scream from Marina froze me in my steps.
“James! I see a vision!”
A vision? my heart raced at the sound of that. She having a vision makes us a step closer to our revenge. My gaze flickered to the door.
Do I follow Rosa? Or wait to hear the vision?
My decision made itself as I rushed to Marina.
My main goal was revenge. I would chase after Rosa and convince her to stay but I need to know about the vision.
“What do you see, Marina?”
Her eyes glazed over. “I see a man!”
I nodded, hopeful about this. “Okay and?”
Her eyes glazed more and a gasp left her lips. “He’s as a party, but I can’t see his face. Someone is helping him hide his face, maybe a witch or a helper like me.”
Disappointment filled me with her statement, but I’ve waited three years. I could wait a little more if it meant I could finally get my revenge.
“That’s okay, Can you see any clues or maybe what he’s wearing?”
She nodded and a second passed before a gasp left her lips.
I moved closer to her as her eyes refocused and she looked at me with shock in her eyes.
“Well what else did you see?” I asked impatiently and she swallowed hard.
“Rosa was with our enemy, James.”
My throat constricted at the sound of that and I gripped the edge of my chair to stabilise myself.
Rosa has a relationship with the man that slaughtered my pack?
RosalindI couldn’t believe the look on James' face as he barely paid attention to my words. Was that how unimportant I was? Was slandering me behind his back one of the things he did for fun?“I want a divorce and I want it now.”His eyes snapped to mine as if just listening to me and his brows tightened. “No.”My face clouded with disgust as I glared at him. “What do you mean no? I want a divorce and I want it as soon as possible and you cannot stop me.”He ran a hand through his hair, a move that used to get me excited but just annoyed me as every part of him. “If you don't do this, Rosalind, I will do whatever you want, and answer every request.”Marina gasped beside him. “James-“ she started, but I cut her off.“Since you are offering, I have a request.” I spoke calmly, gaining his attention. He gave me his complete attention and the room tensed as they both waited to say what I was going to say.My eyes met with Marina’s briefly and I could see the irritation in them.“I want yo
Rosalind“Shawn?” I gasped, not believing my eyes as those familiar blue orbs met mione and widened in recognition as they landed on me.“Rosalind? Hey.” Shawn broke into a wide smile, one that I had not seen since forever. Shawn used to be my best friend before I met James. so close to the extent people thought we were in love and were going to get married. But he disappeared 3 years ago suddenly and out of contact totally, I almost thought he was died. “How have you been, little Rosa?” He asked, using his nickname for me. I studied his face as we pulled away. He was definitely a little different from the last time i saw him, the day I announced my wedding. His brown and unruly hair was longer, and he had a well groomed facial hair. But his eyes were colder than before. That was what growing up did to us."That is a good question..." I sighed, "how about you? Where have you been? and why you suddenly disappeared and suddenly appears now?" I was happy to see him, and also have a lot
RosalindStaying at Chris’s house was tough, so I rented an apartment as soon as I could. The apartment was fully furnished and it didn't come cheap, but it was cheaper than I thought it could be. It was like a steal. I also got new clothes because I wasn't ready to see James or Marina in that house. Not when I hated James at the moment. It was the day of Shawn’s welcome party and as I applied my makeup in the mirror, the thought of meeting the Lawyer and filing a divorce from the man I've loved for all these years felt like the hardest thing I could ever do. I never imagined that I would have to let go of him, my husband, but he already made it clear that it was nothing to him.Nothing more than a maid.Blinking back my tears so that I wouldn't ruin my neatly done make up, I distracted myself by pushing thoughts of James away and pushed away from the mirror so I could take a look at the whole outfit I picked myself. My figure stood out in the blue midnight dress i wore, showing th
RosalindMarina glared at my father, who looked completely shocked. The onlookers whispered amongst each other and I gritted my teeth in annoyance. What is Marina trying to do? And why to my father? My father’s grey eyes furrowed with confusion as he looked down at Marina, who still had her finger stretched at him.“Who is this? What do you mean by that and why are you pointing at me?” My father questioned, annoyance rubbing off him as we all stared at Marina. How dare she point at my father disrespectfully? It was one thing to treat me like trash, but my father? She must be wishing for trouble.“That’s not a way to address my father, Marina. Is there something you need to say? Then say it without acting like a child.” She looked taken aback by my words, and I knew she hated being told to do. She opened her mouth to speak, but James gave her a look before putting on a wide smile and stretching out a hand to my father, looking more respectful that ever, and nothing like the man who j
Rosalind“Rosalind.” The lawyer who I thought already left called me softly and I turned to her with hope in my eyes. She gave a smile and let out a sigh. But before she could utter another word, a loud round of applause echoed from the guests and I looked up to the stage to find the celebrant, Shawn, giving a warm smile to the guests. He was about to say his speech and he looked confident and smart as he waited for the applause to quiet down, exuding a charm I knew was the reason he had so many guests come to celebrate him.“Thank you, thank you.” His voice came into the speakers, and he began his speech but I couldn’t completely focus, not when the lawyer wanted to say more things, maybe change her mind about being James’ lawyer and pairing up with me instead, although I knew that was unlikely. This was all in vain, coming to the party.I put my hope up, just for them to be squashed under both James’s million dollar shoe, and the lawyer’s pencil heeled ones.A sigh left my lips as
JamesAs I hurriedly pushed Marina away from Rosa’s presence, my heart pounded wildly in my chest at that close encounter with Don, and Marina’s stupid slip up.What sort of mistake was that? “Why are you pushing my chair, James? You need to calm down.” Marina hissed at me, and I let out a frustrated sigh.“Don’t tell me to calm down, Marina. Don’t you know what you almost cost us? Why would you mention something that sensitive in public? Didn’t you think it through?”What she did was an incredibly stupid thing to do and if I wasn’t smart with covering it up, we could have been killed. Who lets a man who we’ve been suspecting know that he’s been the topic of our decision? If he was truly evil, something I still had my doubts about since he was my father in law, he wasn’t going to hesitate to do something to us.We had no defense. In a fight like that, we were going to obviously emerge the losers.“I wasn’t thinking… I was shocked, that's all. That doesn’t give Rosalind the right to t
RosalindA groan left my lips as I regained consciousness, my head throbbing wildly and my throat dry. I raised my hand to touch the side of my head, but it felt heavy, just like every part of my body. The sound of beeping echoed in the room, and my still closed eyes furrowed in confusion. Where am I? I racked my brain to remember the last events, and the only thing I could remember was being at Shawn’s party. Then everything kept coming back to me. First I was at Shawn’s party, then that waiter… James asked to see me then he disappeared into that hallway.I couldn’t find him, and then…I felt a pain in my head and that was it.My eyes fluttered open and I was met with white walls and light, which proved too much to my sensitive eyes.Hospital. I was in a hospital.“She’s up. My Rosa is awake.” The familiar voice of my dad’s reached my ears and I sat up in the bed gently and a pair of hands helped me sit well.James? My brows furrowed as I met with his eyes as he smiled and took his
Rosalind“I choose none because I’ll take care of myself.”I saw how all four faces went from shock to disagreement and they all began talking at once.“Take care of yourself?”“I almost lost you today, Rosalind. Do you think I’ll be okay knowing you may be hurt tomorrow?”“But we need to keep an eye on you, what if it’s worse next time?”“He’s right, I wouldn’t live with myself if something went wrong when I know I could have prevented it.”James’s last comment had my heart clenching painfully. He sounded scared, but I refused to believe my ears.I raised my hand frustratedly. “Can you all just calm down? I’m not a child! I’m an adult and I can take care of myself.”They all kept quiet, looking away guiltily.“Oh God.” I wiped my hand over my face. I would need painkillers after this.“How do you plan to take care of yourself?” Chris asked, looking stony and angry.“Thank you for that question, Chris. I’m an adult. You guys have forgotten that I’m a grown woman, not a child that you
