Far beyond the compound…

“Alpha, we’ve arrived behind the mountains. We await your signal,” Craig’s voice rang through the mind link, clear and focused.

“Perfect,” Dylan replied, his own tone hard as stone. “We move as planned.”

Thanks to the tracking device hidden in Kara’s necklace, Gigi had triangulated the location. The building stood cloaked in the deep southern forest, a remote expanse of tall trees and jagged peaks. Officially, it was a weapons manufacturing site. Unofficially, it belonged to ASA.

Their strike force had been split: Rodrigo and his men approached the front, Craig’s unit climbed the mountain paths to the back, and Dylan himself led the assault through a secret tunnel unearthed by the hackers.

“Everyone in position?” Dylan asked through his earpiece, the forest wind whipping around him.

“Copy. Ready,” Rodrigo answered.

“Born ready, Alpha,” Craig followed.

“Gigi?” Dylan pressed.

“Systems hacked. We’re in place,” she called out.

“Move. Now.”

Dylan’s order cut throug

  • BITTEN   That’s mine, all of it.

Dylan’s POVShe was limp in my arms, body glistening with sweat, face buried in my neck, breath warm against my collarbone. We were both still naked—our bodies tangled on the couch like animals in the aftermath of war. Her thighs were streaked with the evidence of what we’d done, her skin still flushed, her heart still racing beneath the curve of her ribs. But she didn’t speak. Not a word. The fire crackled low, shadows dancing across the wooden beams overhead. Her body rested on mine, but her mind… her mind was somewhere else. And I felt it. Every mile she drifted.I didn’t move. I just held her tighter. Listened to her breathing, counted the pauses between each inhale. Silence had never felt this loud. Her fingers were still curled slightly at my chest, but there was no pressure behind them now. Just her hand resting there like a forgotten memory.I exhaled, dragged my palm up her spine, and whispered, “You’re quiet.”She didn’t answer.“Tell me what’s in your head, Kara.”Still not

  • BITTEN   Far from over

Dylan’s POVThe water steamed around us, Kara’s heat flaring with every shallow breath she took. We'd been in the tub nearly an hour now, her body a constant furnace, overheating the water each time it began to cool. I had to keep draining and refilling it, over and over again, but it didn’t matter. I would’ve done it all night if I had to.She lay between my legs, back resting against my chest, her head lolled to the side. Her skin was damp and flushed, and I could feel her heartbeat thrumming like a war drum against my chest. I held her tighter, my arms banded around her like steel.“Breathe, baby…” I whispered, lips brushing the shell of her ear. “I’ve got you. Just breathe through it. You’re safe here. With me.”Her fingers clutched my forearm, nails digging in when another wave of heat struck. I kissed the side of her neck, trying to distract her from the pain. The fire inside her was cruel—searing, merciless. My mate. My fucking mate, and I couldn’t even absorb the pain for her.

  • BITTEN   Ten days of need

KARA'S POVI was barely ten feet away from the door, blocking out Dylan’s desperate voice as he shouted my name, when the first wave hit me.It was like walking straight into fire.My knees buckled. A jolt of pain knotted through my abdomen, licked up my spine, and clawed through my chest like talons of flame. For one terrifying moment, I could only freeze mid-step, a strangled breath escaping me as my entire being spasmed. It wasn’t just pain, it was craving. A deep, primal ache that pulsed in my blood and curled in my womb.“Kara? What's wrong?” Kelly's voice was soft, unsure. Even Rodrigo was staring now, brows drawn in sharp concern. I saw the question in his eyes: Are you okay?I opened my mouth but another bolt struck.A scream tore out of my throat, raw and guttural, as agony twisted into something darker. Desire. My limbs shook, fingers curling into fists as I bit down hard on my lower lip but nothing helped. The pain flared like a fevered kiss, burning, pulsing, and dragging

  • BITTEN   What truth?

Kara’s POVThe video had just ended.Nia’s face was hidden, her voice distorted but we all knew it was her. There was no denying it. The room was dead silent, then came the whispers, soft at first, then louder, like a wave building strength.Dylan stepped into the center, his presence dark and commanding. His voice cracked like thunder.“What you’ve just watched is a video of Nia Theon Gasper purchasing the distant poison, Shedco. The same one that laced the dagger used to stab my mate.”He pointed at the floor where the severed, lifeless head of the dealer stared back at the crowd.“That’s the dealer’s head,” he said coldly, his hands tucked in his pockets, calm like death. “Hope you love your present, Sister-in-law.”Gasps rippled through the crowd as eyes widened.“Nia… is this true?” It was Father who spoke, voice heavy with shock. “You tried to kill your Luna?”The room spun with disbelief. Even Aunt Jade looked frozen. But Nia? She said nothing. Her head hung low, body trembling

  • BITTEN   Two could play this game

Dylan's POV Seeing them here made my blood boil. I wanted them both gone, far away from my mate. The fact that Nia had once tried to take Kara's life burned through me like wildfire. It took everything in me not to shift and tear her to pieces in front of everyone. My wolf was restless, pacing just beneath the surface. We felt challenged. That the woman who had nearly killed our mate was walking around unpunished was a direct insult. And worse, she dared to smile like nothing had happened. Then I noticed Theon. His pathetic little wave toward Kara didn’t go unnoticed. She ignored him completely, of course. My mate’s life was being threatened under my own roof.I had plans for Nia. And when I was through with her, she would never dream of playing the bitter bitch again.Alpha Deric had me cornered in small talk for thirty agonizing minutes. The formalities, the hollow congratulations, the ceremonial handshakes, they were all distractions I barely tolerated. The moment I could slip aw

  • BITTEN   I'm glad I don't disappoint

Kara's POVStanding in front of the full-length mirror, I gave myself one last look. The white body-hugging dress Kelly had picked clung to every curve like it had been stitched onto my skin. It kissed the dip of my waist, the swell of my hips, and melted like sin over my legs. I looked like trouble and tonight, I planned to enjoy every damn second of it.My hair was curled into soft waves that framed my face like a halo of firelight. I felt beautiful—no, I was beautiful and for once, I didn’t doubt it. Every detail tonight screamed confidence, power and seduction. His scent arrived before he did, wild cedar, fresh rain, he walked further and stood behind me, smirking like he’d caught me doing something wicked."You look so beautiful," Rodrigo murmured.I smirked right back. “I don’t remember you being my date tonight.”He laughed, stepping closer until his reflection eclipsed mine. “My life’s too precious to risk stealing an Alpha’s date.”Then he pulled out a small box, and I turned
