Avery's POV.

I didn’t wait for her to answer. I pushed past her, hips swaying as I made my way into the kitchen. The clatter of trays and the scent of early firewood filled the room, but my mind was elsewhere.

Marla stood at the center, issuing orders.

“Thalia,” she called. I lifted my head and met the glare of the girl who had tried to bully me earlier. I gave her a daring look before dropping my head again.

“You’ll wash the dishes today,” Marla continued. “Scrub the floors and disinfect the kitchen.”

Thalia’s mouth fell open. “What? Ma’am… I was supposed to clean the Alpha’s room today.”

“You don’t question me, Thalia,” Marla snapped. “Take what you are given unless you want extra chores.”

Thalia stiffened. “Sorry, ma’am,” she muttered.

“And who’s cleaning the Alpha’s room?”

“No one. The Alpha doesn’t want anyone near his room today. Is that understood?”

“Yes, ma’am,” we echoed.

“Good. Avery, you know your duty—you’ll cook and serve the Alpha.”

I stared a second longer, then nodded. “Yes, ma'am.”

Without another word, I turned and started prepping the fireplace, but Marla’s words kept echoing in my mind: “The Alpha doesn’t want anyone near his room today.”

Why? Did something happen last night after I left? Not that I cared, but my curiosity was gnawing at me.

I would pretend to ask him what he wanted for breakfast. That would give me an excuse to step closer, to see for myself what was going on.

Yara hissed softly in my mind, tail flicking with excitement. “Go. See. Know.” Her instincts were sharp, pushing me forward, lending my trembling legs the courage I didn’t fully feel.

Each step towards the room felt like walking into my own death. The hallway felt endless now. As I got closer, I couldn't stop the curiosity clawing at me.

I quickened my steps. When I approached the room, it was dead silent. The door slightly ajar.

I moved closer, peeking through the narrow gap. My eyes dropped to the floor, and I started trembling. A small gasp escaped my lips.

Blood.

Blood smeared across the floor, dark and drying. A lifeless body lay on the floor, a man I didn’t recognize.

His eyes were ripped out. One socket was empty, hollow, and dark. The other eye still hung from his face, attached by a thin string, dangling against his cheek. Deep scratches ran across his arms, the skin torn and raw.

His chest was torn open, ribs shattered, intestines spilling in a wet, twisted mess.

Blood flowed freely, forming dark pools around him. His body was twisted, limbs bent in ways they should not bend.

Claw marks scored the walls and floor. Proof that whatever had done this had claws sharper than any man’s. Bits of torn clothing and hair clung to the wounds.

Then I saw Lucian.

He stood at the far edge of the room, his back to me, breathing heavily. His claws were stretched out, dripping with blood. His hands shook slightly, red running down his arms, slick and wet.

Dark fur stuck up along his back in sharp spikes.

Panic gripped me. I could feel Yara retreating. Her instincts screamed, urging me backward, away from whatever nightmare had unfolded here.

I turned around immediately, trying to leave without him noticing, or so I thought. I forced myself to take slow steps backward, careful not to make a sound.

My legs shook as I crept along the corridor, praying he hadn’t noticed me, that he hadn’t sensed me at all. I could still hear him breathing behind the door, growls low and threatening.

Finally, I reached the stairs. My legs moved faster now, urgent, desperate. I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. I just needed to get as far away as possible.

At the bottom, I slipped into the shadowed corridor, moving as fast as I dared, back toward the kitchen.

A scent brushed past me. Faint. Male.

I ignored it.

I was almost at the kitchen when a hand shot out from the shadows, gripping my wrist so hard, he twisted my arms behind my back, the other hand clamped over my mouth, crushing the sound before I could scream.

I couldn’t see the person clearly. The corridor light was too dim.

I struggled violently as I was yanked roughly to the side, slammed against the cold stone pillar. My knees hit the stone. My shoulders screamed under the pressure.

Panic surged through me, my eyes wide as I tried to free myself from the unseen grip.

“What are you doing? Let me go,” I tried to say, but it came out as only muffled mumbling as the hand was still locked over my mouth.

I tried to wrench myself free, twisting my wrist in his grip. In one swift motion, he twisted me around, pressing my chest against the stone pillar, his hand pressed against my hips.

“Easy there, Avery,” a low voice hissed into my ear, breath hot against my skin.

I recognized the voice immediately.

Raith, Lucian's Beta.

Avery's POV.He pressed two fingers into my folds, dragging them upward. Slowly, they brushed my clit. His cock rubbed against my pussy lips. Without warning, he rammed into me. Hard. Stretching me more.He began thrusting in and out, setting a devastating rhythm that pushed me forward with each thrust.“Fuckkkk.” I writhed, almost convulsing. I tugged my hands back, wanting to hold him, but he caught both my wrists, locking them behind my lower back. He kept slamming into me roughly. My boobs bounced with his pace, nipples grazing the mattress. His hand gripped and squeezed them hard, pinching my nipples.I could feel his balls slapping against me, making a wet sound that echoed through the room. My thighs were shaking, my pussy soaking around him. The previous pain had vanished and I was beginning to enjoy the feeling. I hate that I like this.Every thrust knocked the air out of me. He was ruthless, punishing me with every stroke. One of his hands stayed locked on my wrists, the ot

Avery's POV He gripped a fistful of my hair and pushed my head down, hard. Pain shot through my scalp, and I swallowed back a sharp cry, trying not to let my fear show. Oh god… this is really happening. “Open your mouth. Now.” I opened just barely as he rammed his cock deep into my throat. I choked instantly. He thrust hard, cock diving in and out of my mouth without pause. My lips stretched wide, jaw aching, eyes watering as he used my mouth like a vessel. He didn't pity me. My gag reflex hit, and he only pushed deeper, his cock hitting the back of my throat again and again Spit ran down my chin and onto my chest. Breathing became impossible; I could only gasp between thrusts, tears falling as he pushed my head deeper. I choked and gagged, my mouth taking every inch, down to where he met his balls. I couldn’t tell if my tears were from the pain… or from how helpless I felt beneath him. Then, suddenly he pulled out. “Stand up,” he ordered. Relief and panic hit at once as I stu

Avery's POVIt took something from me to say those words. Every breath. Every shred of strength. Every principle I had ever sworn to live by.I could still feel the moment in my bones. The cold edge of Lucian’s sword at Lena’s throat, the thin line of blood forming beneath the steel, the terrible realization that he would not hesitate if I had remained silent.I did not know if what I had said back there was the right thing to do or if I had even meant it.But I said it.I said it to save Lena. The words still echoed in my head, heavy and irreversible.I will be in your bed tonight.Even now, I could not believe they had come from my own mouth. What had I done?My stomach twisted at the thought of what awaited me. I had spoken in desperation, driven by the need to stop the sword from falling, but desperation did not undo promises, not with a man like Lucian.Perhaps Lena would hate me for it. Perhaps she would never forgive the humiliation of being spared that way. But I would rather

Lucian’s POV. My hand tightened around Lena’s arm, and my fingers dug into her skin. She jerked against my grip. She hated when I did that, holding her just firmly enough to remind her that even blood answered to the Alpha. “Get your filthy hands off me,” she snapped. “I’m not one of your slaves.” I smiled faintly. “No, you’re my sister. Which makes your disobedience far more disappointing.” “Let go of me,” Lena said again, trying to wrench her arm free. I did not release her. Instead, I tightened my grip slightly. She hissed under her breath. “You’re becoming reckless,” I said calmly. “And reckless wolves rarely live long.” Lena gave a bitter laugh. “Reckless? You blinded yourself with your own stupidity. Maybe you should start there.” My fingers dug deeper into her arm. “I wouldn’t hesitate to kill you.” I heard the mockery in her voice. “You’d have to find me first. And the last time I checked, you can’t even see.” “You still think blindness makes me weak,” I said. “You

Lena's POV.Avery stared at me as if she were trying to decide whether I was lying. Then suddenly she stood.“I need to get dressed.”“Of course.” But I didn’t move. She hesitated for a moment, fingers tightening around the edge of the towel wrapped around her body. Then she pulled it loose. The fabric slipped from her shoulders and fell on the floor. She stood there, bare in the room, clearly trying to pretend me being there didn’t bother her.The candlelight outlined her shape. I gulped hard. She was fucking killing me here. Her body carried a slim-thick hourglass shape, with a snatched waist that dipped sharply before flaring into wide hips. The curve ended in a firm, and heart-shaped ass.I had the instant urge to smack, grab and squeeze them hard. To pin her down and make her scream my name. My pussy throbbed by just looking at her.I shifted a little, trying not to let her notice how much I was staring. I blinked the thoughts away instantly, she belonged to my brother, I can't h
