Better off

ONE MONTH LATER

I woke up at seven in the morning, not because I had anything doing, but it was all thanks Alexis.

She somehow had this thought that we both should go out and have a morning jog, and trust me, that wasn't a friendly invitation either.

"Chris?".

I moved down and saw her anxiously waiting, her gaze was fixed at the front door, thus didn't know when I stepped in.

"Alexis?. You okay?.

I asked, seeing how lost she was staring at the front door.

She refixed her eyes away from it ( door) and back to me, hurling a deep toned voice. "Yes, I'm fine?", She left afterwards, I took some time to think, and came to a conclusion that, her behavior wasn't or doesn't seem ordinary, there was more to it that meets the eyes.

I went behind, as Maria Jose watched me leave with her, she fastened a sad look and went away.

At the side, Keith noticed that and a devilish smile, unwrapped on his face.

He also left.

Meanwhile, Alexis and I jogged to the park, she was a little bit faster, and her eyes wouldn't stop soaring around.

It seems it was anxiously searching for something or better still someone.

I kept a watch on her, suddenly she makes a stop and turned to me. "Please hold on, I want to use the ladies room?".

"Sure?" I nodded slowly as she walked at the directions to the ladies rest room.

Do I really trust that Alexis is going to the ladies room?. Oh hell no, and I'm not going to let her make me look like a fool, thus the only way to find out what's she's hiding, I'll have to follow her.

So, I walked in the same direction Alexis did, I from a safe distance, I spotted her talking to a man who's identity I don't know.

But I could veil out was, there was a strange vibe between them.

They both whispered to each other, which was a lot difficult for me to hear, I attempted to takes some steps further, but I weaved out that idea, the minute, Alexis turns her eyes back.

Luckily, beforehand I hid behind a tree and waited untill something happened.

I stayed there gasping for air, when suddenly a hand placed on my shoulders plastered a stunned glare on my face.

Apparently I had thought Alexis found me but to my surprise, it was not her, rather a lady who smiled warmly at me.

"Hello son?" She greets.

I looked back and forth before answering, "hello ma'am, but do you know me?".

My question spotted a smile on her lip. She nods, as I receeds to know more.

"then who're you?". I added. And she goes, "hi, I'm Mrs Anna and a very close friend of your mom's, Mrs Elena!! May God rest her soul"..

Hearing her utter, my God rest her soul, sounded a lot off to me; like what soul are they talking about?. A soul that the owner is still alive and kicking?. A soul that's tied down by Alexis, which I'll have to find away to free?...

"Is everything okay?".

The she devil walked into the conversation, she gives Mrs Anna, a weird look repaying it back to me.

"Who is she?", Alexis inquired, I goshed at her face and remade my attention back to her ( Mrs Anna)..

"Thank you ma'am, for everything, but I'll have to go".

Mrs Anna, smiled warmly for the final time and walked past, not after giving Alexis her deadly glare.

"Chris?... She called and trust me, I ignored her voice and jogged out heading back home.
