The ride away from the destroyed warehouse was suffocatingly quiet.

After the violent standoff, neither Alexander nor Damian was willing to yield. In the end, a tense, temporary truce was forced upon them: I refused to get into either of their personal vehicles alone. The compromise was a heavily armored, black SUV driven by Marcus—Alexander’s trusted right-hand man—while Damian’s motorcade followed closely behind, like a pack of wolves keeping eyes on their alpha’s prize.

I sat in the backseat, clutching a dark blanket around my trembling shoulders. My wrists were raw and bruised from the iron cuffs, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the storm brewing inside my head.

"Drink this," a low, smooth voice commanded.

I looked up. Alexander was sitting across from me, his long legs crossed, looking impeccably composed despite the blood that had been spilled just minutes ago. He held out a crystal glass filled with amber liquid.

"I don't want it," I whispered, my voice barely working.

"It's bourbon, Elena. It will calm your nerves," he said, his grey eyes searching my face with that same intense, analytical gaze. When I didn't reach for it, he placed the glass on the small table between us without taking his eyes off me. "You were remarkably quiet back there. Most women in your position would have fainted."

"I was too terrified to faint," I replied honestly, wrapping the blanket tighter around myself. "Who were those men? Why did they take me?"

Alexander leaned back, resting his chin on his hand. "They were remnants of a defunct cartel—scavengers trying to make a name for themselves by exploiting the tension between the North and the South. They thought taking you would force us into a foolish mistake."

"And did it?" I asked, looking straight into his eyes. "Make you commit a mistake?"

A faint, dangerous smirk touched his lips. "Rescuing you wasn't a mistake, Elena. Leaving you in their hands would have been."

Before I could process his words, the SUV slammed on its brakes, coming to a sharp halt inside an underground parking garage. The heavy concrete walls echoed with the roar of powerful engines as Damian’s sports car screeched to a stop right beside us.

The door was yanked open from the outside before Marcus could even step out.

Damian stood there, his leather jacket drenched, his hazel eyes wild and impatient. He reached into the vehicle, offering his hand directly to me. "Out. Now."

Alexander stepped out from the other side, his voice dropping to a icy whisper. "We agreed on the safehouse, Vance. Keep your hands off her."

"The safehouse is on neutral ground, Ivanov, which means you don't give the orders here," Damian snapped, stepping closer to me, ignoring Alexander completely. "Elena, come with me. I have a medic waiting upstairs to check those wrists."

I looked between the two men. Alexander stood like an impenetrable wall of ice, radiating absolute authority and calm control. Damian stood like a storm of fire, unyielding, raw, and fiercely protective.

Two brothers. The thought echoed in my mind, a ghost of a truth that neither of them could see. They were ready to tear each other apart over me, unaware that the same blood ran through their veins.

"I can walk on my own," I said firmly, stepping out of the SUV without taking either of their hands.

We rode the private elevator up to the penthouse—a fortress of glass, steel, and luxury perched high above the city, overlooking the invisible border that divided the North from the South.

Inside, the atmosphere was thick with unspoken threats. Guards from both syndicates stood at opposite ends of the hallway, their hands resting on their holstered weapons, watching each other’s every breath.

A female medic quickly attended to my wrists, applying soothing ointment and bandages while Alexander and Damian stood at the far end of the grand living room, speaking in hushed, lethal tones.

"She stays here tonight," I heard Damian say, pouring himself a drink at the bar. "Tomorrow, my men will escort her out of the country until I clean up the rest of those scavengers."

"She isn't going anywhere with your men," Alexander countered coldly, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out over the rain-slicked skyline. "My security detail is already doubled. She is safest under my roof."

"Your roof?" Damian laughed bitterly, slamming his glass onto the marble counter. "She was taken from your side of town, Ivanov! Your security is a joke."

"And your temper is a liability," Alexander shot back, turning around slowly. "You act on impulse, Damian. You always have. Love—or whatever obsession you are cultivating for this girl—will get her killed if you keep dragging her into your fires."

Damian’s jaw clenched, his knuckles turning white. "Say that again."

"Stop it! Both of you!" I stepped into the room, my voice echoing off the glass walls.

They both went dead silent, their eyes snapping to me instantly.

"You speak about me as if I'm a piece of land you're trying to conquer," I said, my chest heaving as anger finally washed over the fear. "I don't know who you people really are, and I don't care about your empires! I just want my life back!"

Alexander walked toward me slowly, his expression softening just a fraction. "Your old life is gone, Elena. The moment both of our names became attached to yours, you became the most valuable target in this city."

Damian stepped up beside him, standing dangerously close to his sworn enemy. "He's right about one thing, little doe. You can't go back. But you have a choice right now... North or South."

I looked from Alexander's piercing grey eyes to Damian's burning hazel ones. The silence in the penthouse was deafening.

Before I could answer, the penthouse's secure communications console chimed sharply. Marcus stepped forward, his face pale as he looked at the encrypted tablet in his hand.

"Boss..." Marcus hesitated, looking at both Alexander and Damian. "We just intercepted an encrypted transmission sent from the old Syndicate archives."

Alexander folded his arms. "Spit it out, Marcus."

"It's... an old birth registry and a medical file from twenty-six years ago," Marcus stammered, his hand trembling slightly. "It was sent by the man who orchestrated your father's assassination... and it contains a message for both of you."

Damian frowned, stepping away from me. "What message?"

Marcus swallowed hard, reading directly from the screen:

"To the Dons of the North and South... You fight for the city, and now you fight for a woman. But before you spill each other's blood, open the attached file and look at your mother's maiden name. You are tearing the city apart for a war between brothers."

The room froze. Absolute, suffocating silence descended upon the penthouse.

Alexander’s eyes narrowed into slits of pure steel, while Damian stood completely still, the color draining slightly from his face.

The war was no longer just about territory. The darkest secret in the underworld had just been laid bare on the table.

The darkness was heavy, slowly wrapping around my consciousness like a pool of black quicksilver. I could hear nothing except a low hum in my ears, mingling with the throbbing pain concentrated at the back of my head.My senses returned gradually. The first thing I felt was the icy chill of the hard metal chair I was seated on, and the cold iron handcuffs bound tightly around my wrists behind my back. The smell in the air was a foul mixture of mold, rusted iron, and damp concrete.I opened my eyes with difficulty. My vision was blurry and double at first, but the surroundings slowly came into focus.I was inside an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Water droplets fell rhythmically from the decaying, high ceiling like the ticking of a clock. The only source of light was a flickering neon bulb swaying overhead, casting dancing shadows across the cracked concrete walls. Before I could fully process my situation, heavy footsteps echoed through the quiet space."Oh, the lit

  • BOUND TO TWO DONS   Ruins of Thrones and Forgotten Blood

At twenty-two, most people my age possessed the simple luxury of worrying about mundane things: enduring exhausting university exams, searching for a respectable desk job that offered stability, or planning a wild weekend night out to break the monotony of the week. For me, however, my sole and ultimate luxury was waking up each morning with a composed face, facing the world, and paying the rent for the cramped, decaying apartment I inhabited on the forgotten edge of this sprawling city. My name is Elena Vane. My life was nothing more than a straight line of artificial calm and a continuous escape from memories. I worked as a receptionist and gallery assistant at the Aurora Classic Art Gallery—a dark, high-end art gallery sitting right on the dividing line that split the city into two hostile halves. I intentionally preferred the night shifts; the night inside the art gallery granted me a solemn silence, a silence that wrapped around the centuries-old oil paintings and created a prot
