She saw a small smile played on his lips at her apology. He looked so innocent, a boyish man, she mused. She finally gave in to the urge and smiled too. Bobby dragged her out with every bit of his strength as Ava refused to move a step out of the car. Alex looked down at the tiny woman in his arms, shocked. Turning to his brother, he asked " Who is she? "While Jack kept mute, Ava withdrew from his arms slowly, looking dejected. She gazed into his beautiful eyes, silently wishing he would recognize her but it seemed that wasn't going to happen, at least not at that moment. " Hey bro, how are you holding up? " Jack asked in a way of greeting as he sauntered into the hospital ward with Ava on his tail. It was obvious to anyone watching that Ava was scared as fuck as she hid behind Jack's tall frame. Alex was sitting up on the bed and he raised his eyebrows when he spotted Ava behind his brother. He knew she was trying to avoid a direct conversation of any kind with him. But for some reason, he was intrigued by her and wanted to talk to her, feel her presence in close proximity. Shut your trap man, he scolded himself silently and faked a cough. He looked away from her to regard his brother with a glare. " You're really something, aren't you? " Alex drawled out lazily as he stared up at her from under his thick lashes. Ava ignored him and continued, loudly this time. " And it's Adams, not Evans " She corrected him firmly. Alex threw her a look which meant he didn't take lightly to being corrected. Ava returned his look with a defiant stare and they remained that way for a while until Alex finally gave up with a sigh. She wouldn't be easy to deal with, something within him kept giving him a warning signal. Ava took a deep breath and continued " So uh... I was your babysitter when you were... Sick " She kinda stressed the last word and looked down at her feet. When she didn't receive any reaction from him, she looked up and found him staring right back at her. " Hmm, you were my babysitter " He nodded and gave her a dangerous smile which chilled Ava down to her spine. His demeanor changed into a stiff one as though he was offended merely at the thought of her being his babysitter.
