Enzo's POV

Dancing with Eva and holding her so close felt like a dream come true. I was grateful I found her just when that scumbag abandoned her.

We used to be childhood sweethearts, just before she had an accident and lost her memory. I never got to see her again until I came to New York.

I twirled her round and lowered her with my hand supporting her bare back while steadying her with my hand around her thigh.

My moves, my grip, my soft gaze was all to infuriate the one person standing at a distance watching us.

It was just how I felt when, after many years of searching for her, I found her married to him with no memories of me.

I'd left, enraged and only returned to strike at the right time.

She might have lost her memories of those years but I don't intend to let her go again.

As the music slowly came to an end, I caught the frustrated look on Damien's face from the corner of my eyes.

He took everything away from me. My mother. My chance of having a perfect family. And even the only woman I love.

I will reclaim everything, even if it means killing anyone that hinders me.

I whispered to Eva. “You gave me permission back in the restroom, Eva.”

Her baby blue eyes searched my face for an answer before I pressed her body to mine and claimed her lips.

Cameras flashed and gasps rose among the crowd.

Even though all of this was revenge against a certain person, I was happy to have Eva in my arms again.

She broke away, staring at me with masked surprise.

I smiled nonetheless, and led her away from the dance floor.

Some guests stopped us, asking questions and expressing how good we look together. I answered all with happiness radiating all over me, while Eva said little.

When we were finally alone, she swooned a bit, causing me to place my hand on her lower back.

“Are you okay? Do you want to leave now?”

“I'm fine…the alcohol must have been too strong for me. I haven't had one in three years.”

I slipped my phone from my breast pocket. “I'll get the driver now. We should head home.”

She nodded and said, “I need to use the restroom.”

I watched her leave, her Chestnut brown hair swaying behind her as she disappeared through the hallway.

I looked around for my uncle. I hoped he was able to convince Margaret Hale. It was the only way I could infiltrate the Hale Group and make Damien suffer, using the one woman he loves, his only weakness.

Once Eva holds a position in the Hale Group, everything will begin to fall into place.

…..

The strong alcohol was not the only thing making Eva feel dizzy.

Some unfiltered memories had flashed through her eyes during her dance with Enzo. There was a little girl and a little boy, running around under the rain, laughing like they had no problem in the world.

She lowered her head into the basin again and splashed more water on her face.

Did someone spike her drink? What were those memories?

She forced herself to push it to the back of her mind. It must be hallucinations caused by the strong drink.

Enzo was right. They needed to return home. Whatever it is Enzo had planned, it must have worked seeing that Margaret was nowhere to be found after she disappeared and there were no more talks of her been taken away by the cops.

Enzo had come through for her again.

She turned and tried to find her way back when a hand grabbed her wrist, and blocked her mouth from screaming.

Eva was dragged into an empty room.

“Damien?”

“Eva, you need to listen to me.”

“I don't want to listen to anything. Step aside and let me through.”

“Whatever it is Enzo has promised you, he's deceiving you. He's only using you to his advantage.” He tried to explain.

“Yes. And what did you do to me?” Eva gave a dry laugh.

“I don't need you to play protectiveness towards me, Damien! You should be with your fiáncee or she might frame me for another crime and have me locked up again.”

Damien was not having it. He ran his hands through his hair, clearly disoriented.

He grabbed her arm, shaking her violently as if to wake her up from a deep sleep.

“Eva! Maybe you'll believe me if you know what happened to your brother when you were away.”

Eva stared at him pointedly. “What are you talking about?”

“Aren't you aware of how your brother died?”

Eva blinked then said, “You must be drunk, Damien.”

She moved to open the door when he held her arm and pulled her back. She tripped on her heels, losing her balance and falling, only to land on a broad chest with a protective arm around her.

She pushed herself up from his chest, but then, something flashed before her eyes again.

The room whizzed past her eyes.

“Eva?” Damien called, cupping her face in his hands. “Eva, look at me.”

The next second, Eva shut her eyes and lost consciousness.

Almost immediately, the door dashed open to reveal Enzo.

Although he kept an expressionless face, his jaw tightened upon seeing Eva in Enzo's arms.

He took quick strides and snatched Eva from Damien's arms, carrying her carefully.

“What did you do to her? Were you planning to abduct her?” Enzo's voice was anything but calm.

“I'd do anything to keep her away from you.”

Enzo scoffed. “You should have channeled that energy into finding the truth and freeing her from prison.”

Damien's brows knotted.

With an icy gaze, Enzo retorted. “I'll break those hands of yours if I ever see them on my wife again.”

He turned and was walking away when Damien spoke. “Wait till she finds out the kind of person you are. I know her better than you do, and Eva won't take it lightly to find that you deceived her.”

Enzo chuckled. “That is if she ever finds out.”

She stopped before the middle-aged man, whose back was to her as he lit a cigarette.“How could you show your face here, Michael?!” She shrieked, the veins clearly visible on her forehead. “Didn't we agree never to cross paths again?”Michael turned round and came face-to-face with Margaret. “After so many years, this is the first thing you say to me?”“Quit it, Michael. You know we were never supposed to see each other again.”Michael chuckled. “We did agree never to see each other again, but your son did not.”Margaret's eyes widened. “What are you talking about?”“There's no one else here, Margaret. No need to play dumb.” Michael replied as he drew in another huff of smoke.“Damien is my only son.” She said firmly.“I did try to tell you this years ago, Margaret, but you constantly rejected my every means to reach you.”“We agreed never to cross paths.” She repeated. “Why would you try to reach me a

Soon, the police trooped in.Damien stopped them. “You can't take her.”“Move away, Damien and let the police do their job.” Margaret said in a stern voice.Maya was the perfect definition of anger.
