Chapter 2

Author: Washing Wheat
Philip turned to Louis, his expression stern as he said, "Grace is the one who is truly fit to be your wife, Louis."

Louis quickly helped Chloe to her feet and declared, "I'm a superior white wolf, so even if Chloe is a brown wolf, I'm still capable of fathering white pups, Father!"

Philip had always valued bloodline purity above all else.

I noticed Dad staring daggers at Chloe. Her parents were a disreputable lot, so as a result, our families had become strangers to one another the moment Mom passed away.

I held Dad back, preventing him from stepping forward to side with Philip.

"Are you truly certain you want to marry Chloe, Louis?" Philip asked.

Louis nodded firmly in affirmation.

Philip ultimately couldn't sway him, so he had no choice but to consent to the union. He only allowed Chloe to be his mistress for now, decreeing that she would earn her place as Louis' wife only after proving herself by bearing a pure-blood pup.

Chloe's family basked in their newfound glory now that she was officially tied to Louis, the heir of the Wolf King. Fiona Moore, my indolent and greedy aunt, took advantage of Chloe's position as an excuse to visit our home and lord it over us.

Dad, however, had no patience for her and promptly kicked her out.

The Twin Wolf lineage was incredibly precious among wolf clan. Therefore, even though I was passed over during the selection, that didn't stop others from coveting my lineage.

Dad, however, was never satisfied. In just a few short days, he had already rejected over a dozen families who had come to propose marriage.

Chloe's family held a grand feast to commemorate her being Louis' mistress. They extended invitations to every wolf of consequence in the clan, sparing no expense to flaunt their new status.

I naturally received an invitation as well. Heather Bell, my maid, advised me against going, but I felt no fear and went anyway.

The moment I entered Chloe's home, I noticed the guests muttering to each other with knowing smiles. I remained unfazed by their petty gossip and chose a secluded seat away from the prying eyes of the crowd.

I hadn't been sitting long when a figure stopped right in front of me. I looked up to find that it was Chloe.

I was just about to get up and leave when Chloe suddenly grabbed my arm to stop me. "You might have lost the selection, but it's not the end of the world. Grace, I'm sure that if you hide it well enough, someone out there will still be willing to marry you."

I had no idea what Chloe was saying and was utterly confused.

Chloe covered her mouth after saying that, feigning a look of distress. "I've said too much, haven't I? I can assure you that I'll be looking out for you and help you find a suitable husband."

I flung her hand away and tried to walk off, refusing to listen to her rambling.

In an unexpected turn of events, Chloe's words sparked murmurs among those nearby.

"Why would Chloe say that? Does Grace really have some shameful secret to hide?"

"It certainly looks that way. I mean, it would explain why the heir of the Wolf King passed over her Twin Wolf lineage in favor of a common brown wolf like Chloe."

The following day, Heather came to tell me that rumors about me were circulating. They claimed that my private life was a mess and that I was involved with several wolves at once. They even went so far as to say I had sought out beastmen from other clans during my heat.

Those who had previously wanted a marriage alliance shunned me, going out of their way to avoid me whenever they saw me in public.

It was clear as day that these were the very seeds Chloe had planted at her home the day before. I also suspected, with growing certainty, that Louis was pulling the strings right alongside her.

They had no idea that I was actually pleased with the outcome. There had been so many marriage proposals lately that I'd grown just as tired of them as Dad had.

I knew the rumors would ruin my reputation, but I preferred that over more marriage offers.

I instructed Heather to spread the rumor that my Twin Wolf lineage was nothing but a lie, forcing those suitors to retreat completely.

Once I handled that matter, I carried a jug of medicinal wine and walked into a heavily guarded courtyard.

"What brings you here, Grace?"

Ella Craft, my twin sister and also a superior white wolf, lived here. She had been frail and sickly since birth, so Dad had specially built this courtyard and stationed guards there to ensure she was never disturbed and to allow her to recover in peace.

I would drop by to see Ella every so often.

I laughed coldly before asking, "Have you ever wondered why your mother kept sending me so many medicinal tonics in my previous life, Louis?"In my previous life, once Louis' mother, Donna, learned that I was pregnant, she personally brought endless medicinal tonics to my room. I didn't want to drink them, but she still gently coaxed me into doing so. It wasn't until I discovered the truth about Louis' bloodline that I realized those weren't mere tonics; they were potions designed to produce a superior pup and cleanse the mixed-blood lineage. It was quite unfortunate, though; I did give birth to a pure-blood pup in the end, but it was nothing more than a low-tier black pup. Louis widened his eyes in disbelief. "You were reborn too!"Luca's face clouded with confusion. He shot me a questioning look, as if asking what Louis meant.I gently squeezed his hand, choosing not to explain myself at that moment. He understood and thankfully didn't press me for an answer. The moment I ca

"You should really get a healer to examine the pup, Louis," I said after a long, silent moment, knowing that his pup's condition was beyond being dim-witted.I lowered my two little ones into the wicker basket, settling them for their night in the wild. I wasn't worried about them in the slightest since they possessed the bloodline of the Golden Celestial Wolf.Early the next morning, a messenger arrived with frantic news. Chaos had erupted in the Wildbeast Woods, as several bolts of heavenly thunder had suddenly gathered in the sky above the forest, striking down at irregular intervals.I had just arrived at the outskirts of Wildbeast Woods alongside Luca when I noticed a group of wolf men gathered there, with Philip and Louis standing at the very front.Philip rushed over after spotting us. "How should we handle this, Your Eminence?"I was stunned while Luca remained silent. It was as if Philip's authority evaporated the moment Luca appeared; he seemed entirely incapable of maki

In the midst of it all, Luca pushed past the midwives' protests and burst into the room. By then, my features had already begun to shift into those of a wolf. Thankfully, he reacted instantly and administered a medicinal serum that allowed me to revert to my human form. The moment Luca leaned in close, I couldn't help but slap him several times. The pain was just unbearable. The midwife urged Luca to get out, insisting it was bad luck for a man to be present during labor, but I wouldn't let Luca leave. I was in too much pain to care; I gripped Luca's hand with a vise-like grip, having no intention of letting go for even a second. In the end, the midwife abandoned the idea of sending Luca away after witnessing the way we held onto each other, looking as if parting would mean death. After 48 hours of grueling labor, I finally birthed a pair of twins. Both were pristine Golden Celestial pups. They looked exactly like Luca's wolf form. I caught a brief glimpse before my consciousness g

Three months later, once the pregnancy had stabilized, I finally shared the news with my family. They were absolutely thrilled, and Ella was so ahead of things that she had already finished preparing the pups' clothes months in advance.I was absolutely delighted and had just shown the pups' clothes to Luca when I noticed a strange expression on his face. That very night, I discovered that the house was filled with all sorts of rare and exotic treasures that he had scoured the world for in just half a day.I realized then that he had been sulking because someone else had beaten him to the punch in giving the pups their first presents. The following day, news came that Chloe was two months pregnant, just one month behind me.Philip, eager to celebrate the impending arrival of the royal births, held a grand banquet. He sent out invitations to both our families—the Crafts and the Dunns—and all the influential wolves within the clan.He beamed as he looked between Chloe and me, grin

Nolan studied Luca for a moment before dropping to his knees. "It really is you, Supreme Wolf! I, Nolan Booth, humbly pay my respects!"Shock rippled through the gathered wolves before they, too, dropped to their knees one after another. Centuries ago, the wolf clan faced a sudden crisis when the reigning Wolf King met an untimely end. Luca, who was the rightful heir then, had no interest in ruling, so he simply handed the crown over to the current Wolf King, Philip. In appreciation, Philip conferred the title of Supreme Wolf upon Luca.I never imagined that the Golden Celestial Wolf from that secluded paradise was the very same Supreme Wolf from the legends. And now, he was my husband.Luca, noticing the lingering doubts from the crowd, leaped and shifted into his wolf form. He appeared as a golden-furred wolf, with two tufts of fur on his back that resembled wings. He radiated a soft, golden light that was mesmerizing rather than harsh, casting a spell over everyone who gazed u

Chloe suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She shoved me aside, helped Louis to his feet, and asked with feigned distress, "Are you alright, Your Highness?"Then, in a blatant attempt to distort the truth, she insisted that I had staged the entire confrontation just to gain Louis' attention.I almost gagged at her audacity. I could even feel the pups stirring uncomfortably within me, as if they shared my disdain."You can rest assured that I have no regard for a woman like her, Chloe!" Louis declared firmly.Chloe beamed after hearing that.Luca sized her up and asked, "Is she really your cousin? How can your cousin be so hideous, Grace?"I burst out laughing at his questions before I could stop myself.Chloe stomped her foot in rage before throwing herself at Louis, begging him to get justice for her. She didn't realize that Louis was still reeling from the beating we had given him. Under the weight of her embrace, Louis' legs gave out, and he fell flat onto the ground. In the en
