Chapter 1

Author: Circle Master
In the hunting ground, my mate Liam abandoned me, even though I was pregnant and severely injured. He left carrying Beta Eva, who only had minor scratches.

As I was left behind, I took the prenatal medication Liam had given me, only to lose the baby. It was then that I realized what my mate had done to cover up his betrayal.

Since that was the case, I decided to let them be together.

After hearing what I said, my father remained silent for a long time. Then, he spoke in a voice full of sorrow and affection.

"The entire Howl of the Moon Pack and I are waiting for you."

At that moment, his voice became the greatest source of comfort throughout the long night. After ending the mind link with my father, I gently touched my flat stomach, and a wave of grief surged through me.

The pack's healer told me that the medicine Liam gave me was actually a slow-acting poison. It dulled my ability to sense the mate bond, but at the same time, it had a severe impact on my child.

Such drugs were usually used by those who were unfaithful in relationships. They wanted to enjoy the excitement while keeping the illusion of a stable home. Recalling the scene of Liam walking away with Eva in his arms, everything became clear.

I stared powerlessly at the ceiling and began to confess to my unborn child. That night, the chill in my heart slowly spread through me.

It was my seven years of naivety that caused the death of my child. I had not even noticed that Liam, the man who shared my bed every night, had long kept someone else in his heart.

The next day, while the pack healer was examining me, a sharp pain suddenly made me convulse on the bed. This was the agony caused by the betrayal of the mate bond.

I had not expected Liam's betrayal to strike so soon after the drug's effect wore off.

Since disappearing from the hunting ground yesterday, Liam had not shown a single sign of concern for me. He must have been too busy being intimate with Eva.

The healer, who was visibly anxious, tried to ease my pain.

"How could this happen right now? Your body can't handle the pain from mate bond! Lily, are you okay? Answer me!"

In my blurred vision, I seemed to see that night again. Liam was standing before me with a bouquet of flowers in his hands.

He looked into my eyes and spoke each word with care, "The greatest blessing in my life is that the Moon Goddess made you my mate. I will protect you for the rest of my life."

Seven years. The seven years between Liam and me turned out to be nothing but a cruel joke.

After the treatment finally ended, I returned to the home I had shared with Liam. As I looked at everything that once felt warm and sweet, all I could feel was deep mockery.

I walked through every corner of the house, remembering all the moments Liam and I had shared. We used to be a loving couple, inseparable from each other. But when did it all start to change?

Probably since that woman named Eva came back.

"Lily! Are you okay? Eva was seriously hurt. I'll take her to the hospital soon. Please take care of yourself."

Liam finally remembered me. His voice rang through our mind link, low and hoarse, still tinged with the aftertaste of pleasure.

Was Eva seriously hurt? I almost laughed out loud. I responded faintly, asking, "Since last night, have you been with Eva this whole time?"

It was a normal question, yet he reacted with intense anger. His tone rose sharply, full of frustration.

"Lily! Don't slander Eva's reputation. She is clean and pure. She's injured now, and as the Alpha, I have to protect the lives of our pack members.

"Eva is in a terrible state. She can't eat or sleep because of the pain. You are my Luna. Shouldn't you show a little understanding?

"Besides, Eva is our pack's Beta. Without her, could you even handle the responsibilities?" The concern in Liam's voice when he mentioned Eva was something I had never heard before.

"Liam, when you left the hunting ground yesterday, why didn't you check on my injuries? I was in pain, too."

Liam went silent. After a long pause, he spoke again, impatience in his voice.

"Lily, your wolf is much stronger. What's wrong with going to the hospital yourself? Eva's not like you. She needs me."

I was so furious I could barely speak. Liam mistook my silence as a sign of guilt.

"Alright. No need to feel too bad. Just apologize to her."

Once the mind link was cut off, I immediately began packing all my belongings. It was truly thanks to Liam that our pack had such a fragile Beta like Eva.

My life with Liam used to be peaceful and happy until his childhood friend Eva came back.

She was supposed to be another Alpha's Luna from a different pack, and we were supposed to have nothing to do with each other. But not long ago, her Alpha died in a pack war.

She returned to the pack and forced her way into our lives under the Beta title Liam had granted her as an exception. At first, Liam showed no particular reaction to her arrival. Or at least it seemed that way on the surface.

Until the two of them started spending more time together over pack matters. Until Liam became a rare presence at night. Until after Liam found out I was pregnant and gave me that so-called prenatal medicine.

I packed everything I owned and threw all the gifts Liam had given me away. I figured it was finally time to wake up from my seven-year dream.

After attending the conference, I found that managing the affairs of the Howl of the Moon Pack became even smoother for me.During this time, Zach had always stayed by my side. He was with me every step of the way until the day the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack was scheduled to arrive. On that day, I didn't see Zach at all."Dad, where's Zach? There's an important record I need him to help me go over."A barely noticeable smile appeared on my father's face. He didn't answer my question and instead started a new topic."If the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack wanted you to become his mate, would you agree?"I laughed. "Dad, don't joke like that. I don't even know him."My father laughed heartily before asking, "Then, what do you think of Zach?""He's great. I like him very much."At that moment, a large group of Blood Moon Pack members flooded into my father's office. Behind them stood Zach, dressed in a suit and holding a bouquet of flowers."Lily, will you be my mate?"…The nex

"The meeting is about to start. Can you take Eva and get as far away as possible?"I took Zach's arm and got ready to leave the hall. But Liam insisted on standing in my way."You are my mate. How can you act so close to someone else without any shame? Come back with me. Stop making a scene."I looked at Liam coldly."We're already over. I am no longer your mate, Liam."I believed that, at that moment, Liam truly wanted me to come back. He even lowered his pride and knelt before me, speaking sincerely."I'm sorry, Lily. Everything that happened before was my fault. Please give me another chance. I want to make things right, to make up for the child we lost. Please stop saying you're not my mate. If you come back to me, I swear I'll change. Please don't leave me."Thinking back on the seven years I spent with Liam, I remembered how he had never once admitted fault. He had always lived in his own world. In his mind, because I loved him, he could hurt me endlessly. He believed he

As soon as I stepped into the Federation conference hall, I saw Liam and Eva. Liam noticed me almost instantly as well. He walked toward me in excitement, trying to reach for my hand, but then he saw Zach standing behind me. In an instant, his excitement turned into anger."Lily! Who is he?"I stepped aside politely so Liam could get a clearer look at Zach."What's the matter? Instead of worrying about him, shouldn't you be paying attention to Eva's feelings?" After speaking, I turned and glanced at Eva, who had been left behind by Liam. Our eyes met, and Eva immediately put on her usual pitiful expression.Following the direction of my gaze, Liam suddenly gave a mocking smile."Enough. A lost child can always be replaced. You don't need to hold this much resentment toward Eva over such a small matter. I am the Alpha of the entire pack. If you have a problem, talk to me."Just as Liam was about to continue speaking to me, Zach stepped in front of me just in time. I felt a rus

Just as I was about to drink the potion to sever the mate bond, Liam barged into my house. His hair was a mess, and he looked completely disheveled."Lily! What are you trying to do? Are you really cursing our child to miscarriage just to get my attention? And you threw away your Luna badge?"I looked at him and almost laughed. "I didn't curse my child. That report was issued by the pack healer. You can ask her. And yes, I did resign from the position of Luna."At this, Liam's face twisted with rage. He grabbed my wrist hard and roared, "That's enough. Apologize now, and I can still give the Luna position back to you. "Lily, you've become so calculating. I must say, I'm impressed."Ignoring my struggle, Liam stared coldly at me, taking on the posture of someone in power."As the Luna of this pack, it's bad enough that you lack patience, but now you're getting jealous and using our child as a joke. Don't you think you're completely unfit to be our Luna, let alone a mother?"The

Back in the Howl of the Moon Pack, my father brought me a potion to break the mate bond, his expression full of sorrow.I remembered then that my father had never been satisfied with my mate, Liam. After all, Liam's pack was small, and my father had feared I would suffer because of it.But at the time, I believed in the guidance of the Moon Goddess. I truly believed her guidance would bring me happiness. Looking back, my choice had been so impulsive. In order to ensure I received the respect I deserved, my father had given Liam many of the Howl of the Moon Pack's resources, but Liam never treasured them. Instead, he took it all for granted.Seeing the exhaustion on my face, my father could not bear it and said, "You've been through everything that needed to be experienced. What matters now is your own happiness. I will always be by your side."I nodded. I would live well and welcome a brand new life."Thank you, Dad."That evening, while I was enjoying a rich dinner, I received

After packing my things, I headed to the Pack House Council Room. The moment the Elders heard that I wanted to resign from my position as Luna, they all slammed their hands on the table in unison."No! I don't agree!"Seeing their hypocritical attempts to persuade me to stay, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Their so-called concern was nothing more than self-interest. I had brought many benefits to the pack over the years.Because of the Moon Goddess' guidance, I, the heir of the Howl of the Moon Pack, had come to this remote pack.Because of me, the Elders had used my name to obtain a great deal of resources from the Howl of the Moon Pack. So, it was only natural that they were reluctant to let me go when I decided to leave."Lily! Think carefully before you speak!""Liam grew up under our eyes. He would never betray you!"Listening to all their doubts, I calmly dialed Liam's number. Before Liam's voice could come through, it was Eva's voice that was heard first."Liam, sho
