Chapter 2

Penulis: Stars
"Everyone saw what happened. You were the one who snatched Cassandra's necklace," Bruce said sternly as he tossed the necklace at Andrea's feet.

Andrea was so terrified that she immediately fell to the ground. "No! No, I didn't! I swear I didn't mean to. I was just so scared."

She raised her head, her eyes wide with innocence, and her cheeks were wet with tears. "I was scared that Cassandra hadn't turned over a new leaf and that I would be bullied. So, I wanted to test her."

Her hands shook as she removed every piece of jewelry she was wearing and tossed it to the floor. "I've always treated you like you were my actual parents, but the truth is, I would never be your real daughter.

"Now that Cassandra's back, you don't need me to be around to replace her. I hope you'll take good care of yourselves. I'll leave."

Tobias immediately stopped her, looking straight into Bruce's eyes as he said with conviction, "Father, you know how much Andrea has suffered. You know how badly she had it."

As he spoke, his eyes shot to me. The look he gave me was filled with such revulsion that even a blind wolf could see it.

"Cassandra has been using her identity as your daughter to bully Andrea at every turn. I exiled her to the Wastelands only to make her understand how hard real life is. That way, she'll learn to cherish how good she has it. Besides, I sent a squad of guards to protect her. So, I'm sure nothing happened to her.

"I never expected that she'd get worse! Now, not only has she not repented for her wicked ways, but she's also resorted to self-harm to drive Andrea away! What sane wolf would carry Wolfsbane? Also, the timing was so coincidental. After all, you two walked in when she just happened to drink it.

"She clearly planned it all! She's only doing this to make you feel guilty so you'll send Andrea away."

"Do you even hear yourself?" Bruce barked, slamming his hand against the table in his anger. Yet, the niggling suspicion wouldn't leave his mind now that it was brought to his attention.

Andrea grew more brazen when she noticed that they were still on her side.

Once, she commented that my hair had gotten too long and she offered to trim it for me. When I obediently sat in front of her, she whipped out a pair of silver scissors she'd hidden away for this moment and slashed the blades straight at my ear.

The pain was excruciating, but I didn't dare make a sound. I didn't make a whimper even as I felt hot blood dripping down from my ear and splashing against the floor. I knew that Tobias would only rail at me if I made a peep.

So, I bit my lip until it bled to stop even a breathless wheeze from escaping my lips.

Andrea grew even more furious in the face of my lack of reaction. So, she scattered razor blades into my bowl of soup during a meal.

Then, she shoved me into the bowl.

"Aren't you a great actress? Let's see how long you can keep this up! Eat it if you dare!"

Dana couldn't bear to watch this unfold any longer, so she stood up to intervene. However, Bruce stopped her and pressed her back into her seat. He gave her a meaningful look, so she could only look at me anxiously.

Tobias said nothing as he coldly glared at me. It seemed he was certain that I would lose my temper as I had in the past. He was expecting me to smash the bowl and make a scene.

Everyone was waiting to see how I'd respond.

My eyes were hollow as I picked up the spoon, scooped up the razor blades-infested soup, and swallowed all of it whole.

Andrea hadn't expected me to do that and immediately started panicking.

I could feel the blades slicing down my throat. Soon, the metallic tang of blood filled my mouth, choking my airways.

Dana instantly turned stark white. She screamed for an ambulance, holding me as she wailed, "Cassandra, what happened to you?"

Sadly for her, I couldn't hear a thing as I numbly continued to stuff the razor blades into my mouth, not stopping even when they cut my cheeks right open.

Bruce literally flipped when he saw this, throwing the table aside. He snatched up a razor blade and hurled it at Tobias as he bellowed, "This is all your fault! If anything happens to her, all of you will pay with your lives!"

I couldn't say anything, my mouth and nose drowning in blood. I didn't know when it happened, but I eventually lost consciousness as I was cradled in my wailing mother's arms.

Dana was so enraged that her fingers shook when she pointed at Andrea. "It was you all along! You planned everything. You made us wrong Cassandra for years and nearly got her killed!"Tobias' eyes were bloodshot with fury as he glared at her. "I sided with you over and over. I even doted on you due to my guilt. I never imagined you could be this malicious."Bruce was shaking with rage. He clenched his fists, whipped out a silver blade, and pressed it against Andrea's throat. He wanted nothing more than to decapitate her right then and there. Still, he barked at the guards, "Guards, seize her. I'll announce her misdeeds and her exile to the entire pack tomorrow. She is to be exiled to the Wastelands, never to set foot in our territory ever again!"Finally, he turned to her and growled, "I'm going to ensure that you taste every bit of suffering Cassandra has endured."Andrea's legs gave out beneath her, her knees falling to the ground with a painful thud as tears streamed down her

The doctor examined my body and inquired about my injuries. I answered her as honestly as I could. After all, some of them were self-inflicted. There was a time my mind was tearing at the seams. The only thing that could cut through the fog was pain. So, I would use a silver knife to carve into my body whenever I lost control.Still, some of the deeper knife wounds were inflicted by others.I remembered that I had a lot of fight in me in the beginning. So, they would threaten to kill me to gain my obedience. The number of those wounds equated to the number of times I'd been taken non-consensually.Eventually, I became the meek little thing they wanted. I had learned that there was no escape. So, I began to cooperate. At least this way, I would suffer less.As for the burn marks and the bruises… Well, I couldn't remember how I got them.I had no idea how many times I had been round with pups, nor how many times I'd miscarried. Perhaps the knowledge was too painful for me, so my

Things came to a head when Andrea was poisoned. Tobias finally had enough as he yelled, "Do you really think that the good life you have right now is something that falls from trees? The only reason you're still standing here being such a brat is because of the guards who died in the line of duty! "Yet, not only are you ungrateful, but you've also spat on their sacrifices by bullying their pups! Let's see how long you'll last without the family's protection!"Tobias hadn't been wrong. I was nothing without my family. In the beginning, I lived a life worse than death. I had been tormented and humiliated at every turn. Still, my will to live gave me the strength to endure it all. In the end, I even stooped low enough to trade my body just to survive.I didn't know how many pups I carried, but I knew that I miscarried plenty. There were also pups that made it to term but still died shortly after their birth. As days passed, the more numb I grew to it all. My eyes had lost their spar

Tobias froze when he heard it, but he quickly recovered as he drew his blade at the poor servant's neck."What nonsense are you spewing? A rogue? Pups? Keep this up, and I'll rip your head off!"The servant practically crumbled as he blubbered, "Why would I lie about this? I'm telling the truth! If you don't believe me, then you can see them for yourselves!"Tobias still refused to believe a word coming out of that servant's mouth. Still, he did just that and went home. When he got there, he saw an old rogue and two pups standing at the entrance. It was a boy and a girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to me.The old rogue broke into a leer the second he laid his eyes on Tobias."My, my, it sure was hard to get an audience with Cassandra nowadays. Still, the pups miss their mother. I had no choice but to put in the elbow grease to make that happen. Go on, then. That's your uncle."Then, he roughly shoved the two pups at Tobias.Tobias stared at the two tanned pups standing before

Bruce locked Tobias in his room from that day on, even going as far as to forbid him from leaving.I was soon diagnosed with severe depression. The doctor even made it known that I was a suicide risk.My parents started to treat me like I was glass after that. It was as if they were afraid that one wrong word would cause me to shatter.I was so weak that I didn't even have the strength to push myself upright. So, Dana had to bring me food and feed me herself. Unfortunately, the pain from my injuries prevented me from eating much. She had no choice but to watch me growing thinner and thinner by the day, feeling as though the razors I'd swallowed were slicing her heart apart instead.Only Tobias remained indifferent toward me."The whole household is revolving around you now. You've done it! Are you happy now?"Bruce slapped him hard the second those words fell from his lips. "It seems you still haven't learned from your lesson. Keep this up, and you'll be confined for a month!"

During my dazed state, I fell into another dream. Well, a dream of my past.Back then, I was still the apple of my parents' eyes.
