Aella POV

Too late.

The shadows tore through the space where he had stood—

And found nothing.

Nothing.

I stepped forward anyway.

One step.

Then another.

As if forcing myself closer would somehow undo what had just happened.

“He was here,” I said, my voice low, sharp.

Certain.

The ground beneath my feet still felt… disturbed.

Not broken.

Not altered.

But wrong.

Like something ancient had passed through it and left behind a scar no one else could see.

The shadows returned to me.

  • Bankrupting the Alpha: Crowned by the Dragon King   The weight of power

Chapter — The Weight of PowerAella POVI didn’t realize how exhausted I was until they made me stop. Not suggested. Not recommended.Forced.Sol took one look at me after I opened my eyes and immediately stepped in front of me, hands firm on my shoulders before I could even try again.“That’s enough.”I frowned.“I’m close.”“You’re tired.”“I’ve been tired for three months.”“And now you’re pushing past it.”His voice wasn’t harsh. But it wasn’t negotiable either. The queens backed him without hesitation.“For once,” Queen Alors said, “listen to the man who shares your bed.”“That is not the argument I expected today,” I muttered. The healer queen stepped forward and gently guided me toward one of the chairs the castle had already prepared.“Power without rest becomes instability,” she said calmly. “And you are not allowed to become unstable right now.”I sat.Not because I wanted to.Because I knew they were right. The moment I stopped moving, the weight hit me all at once. My body

  • Bankrupting the Alpha: Crowned by the Dragon King   Four powers

Aella POVBy the time I finally understood what the board was asking of me, three months had passed.Three months inside a place where time barely touched the outside world, yet every second had shaped me.My body had changed.I could feel the babies now.Not just as a quiet presence. Not just as a distant awareness.I could feel them move.Small at first. Then stronger.Alive.Real.And with that came something I had not expected to hit so hard.Anxiety.Were they okay? What if something was wrong and I couldn’t see it?What if they arrived early? What if I wasn’t ready? The questions came like waves, fast and relentless, threatening to pull me under if I let them. But I didn’t.Because the one thing the castle had forced me to learn—Clearing my mind—Now became the thing that saved me.Every time fear tried to take hold, I breathed.Focused.Let the noise settle instead of letting it spiral. It didn’t erase the worry. But it kept it from controlling me.And that was enough.Standin

  • Bankrupting the Alpha: Crowned by the Dragon King   Remember

Chapter — The Castle TeachesAella POVThe shelves moved. Not subtly.Entire rows of books slid aside, gliding across the floor with perfect precision until the center of the library stood completely open. Tables rolled back on their own. Chairs tucked themselves neatly against the walls. Floating lights gathered overhead, brightening the cleared space until it felt less like a library and more like a lesson waiting to begin.I remained seated for one stunned heartbeat. Then I stood.“Of course,” I muttered. “Why would anything in my life ever come with normal instructions?”Chaos looked delighted.“Oh, this is new.”Order folded his arms.“No. This is efficient.”A sound like old wood creaking filled the room.I looked up.A large school board descended from the ceiling on silver chains, stopping directly above the cleared floor. It swayed once, then stilled. Chalk appeared from nowhere and hovered in front of it.Then it began to write by itself.White letters scratched across the d

Whenever one problem ended, this place seemed determined to answer with books.Chaos perked up.“Oh, excellent. Research montage.”Sol, however, had already moved to another line of thought. He looked toward the private doors leading back to our chambers.“What about the portal in our room?”All eyes turned to him.He continued.“If Beatriz and other doctors need to come, can they use the portal there and enter through the void?”For one heartbeat, the idea seemed brilliant.Close.Direct.Private.Then both Chaos and Order answered at the same time.“No.”Sol frowned.“Why not?”Chaos spread his hands dramatically.“Because your castle is possessive.”Order was more precise.“Because your castle will not allow anyone access to your room.”I blinked.“My room?”“Your room,” Order corrected. “Plural. Yours and Sol’s.”Chaos nodded solemnly.“It has categorized that entire wing as protected territory.”The central queen tried and failed to hide a smile. The second queen did not bother t

Aella POVI looked between them all, then toward the mirror standing across the room. The same mirror Sol and I had used the first time we left.An idea struck fast enough that I spoke before anyone else could.“Can we bring them over using the mirror Sol and I used the first time?”For one hopeful second, no one answered. Then the middle queen sighed.Queen Alors. It was not an irritated sigh.It was the sigh of someone who had watched many people discover that magic still came with inconvenient rules.“Child,” she said gently, “it is not so easy.”My shoulders dropped.Of course it wasn’t.Nothing had been easy since the day I learned my life belonged to several realms at once.Queen Alors stepped closer to the mirror, her fingers hovering over its frame.“The mirror is a passage for the bound and the recognized,” she explained. “It responded to your crowns, your bond, your inheritance.”She looked back at me.“It was never meant to be used as a transport gate for anyone you please.

  • Bankrupting the Alpha: Crowned by the Dragon King   What next?

Aella POVI sighed. It was not elegant. Not regal. Not the controlled exhale of a queen receiving difficult counsel. It was the sigh of a tired pregnant woman on her honeymoon who had somehow inherited ancient political disasters, prophetic children, and the responsibility of stopping a broken man with godlike ambition.“What next?” I asked. The question fell into the room heavier than I intended.Because I was not asking only about Elias.I was asking about the babies.About safety.About where we should stay.About what future we were actually building now that every answer seemed to create three new dangers. No one spoke immediately. The queens looked thoughtful. Chaos looked intrigued. Order looked, somehow, more Order than usual. Then Sol answered. He stepped closer until his shoulder brushed mine, grounding me with simple contact before he spoke.“Maybe,” he said carefully, “it would be best to stop thinking about leaving.”I turned toward him.He held my gaze steadily.“Instead

-------SOL ---------------- She was gone. Just like that. Gone. No scream. No body. No blood. Just empty stone where she had been standing seconds before. My knees buckled before I realized I was falling. Linus caught me under the arm, steadying my weight like I weighed nothing. “Sol?” Hi

We walked quickly toward the access doors of the Silver Tower. Bruno—the Tiger Alpha—was already speaking into his comms, his voice clipped and controlled. “Monarchs have arrived. Repeat—Monarchs have arrived. Maintain barricade positions. No one breaks formation without direct authorization.”

Pamela stepped forward, her face pale beneath the smears of soot and blood. The transition from "Ascended Monarchs" to "starving shifters" happened remarkably fast. For hours, we were buried in vellum and leather. We moved through stacks of ancient scrolls, but it seemed the Great Library of the Queens had a sense of humor—or a very mundane side. We found "The Little Drag
