Chapter 5: Face From The Past.
Lisa was still in shock with her lips parted in a wide gasp when the room door bursted open, the least unexpected person sauntering through the door.“Kurt!” Her voice deepened with disgust as she called his name.Kurt who just came in ignore the strange eyes present in the room and went straight to his wife, “I came as soon as I heard. How did this happen?-““Get out Kurt!” She shunned at him, tone rolling out her irritation as she cast him a repulsive glance. He halted on his tracks, inches away from where Lisa laid on the bed.“I think this is our cue to excuse them.” A man whispered out from behind to another to passed on the information. At once they turned around, departing from the scene and leaving Kurt alone with his wife except for Leo who was still present. He was originally the one who passed out the sentence to excuse the room. He went to the bed, “Here are your things, the ones I picked earlier from your car.” He told her before dropping all the said belongings beside her on the bed.“I will be outside.” He said, instantly turning around and walking out of the room.“I mean it Kurt, don’t come near me and just get the hell out of my sight.” She spat out in pure disgust, marred with rage as she torn away her gaze from him.“Lisa!” He called out softly, hurt by her treatment. “I’m telling you, I didn’t have anything to do with-““And you want me to believe you?” She butted in as she look up to his face, tears slowing brewing into her lashes. Her lips quivered and anger shade over her expression of pain, “I saw you both naked on the bed, and let’s assume you did nothing or know like you claimed. You lied to me, told me you were alone at home-““I thought she would be returning back home yesterday, I didn’t know she would be sleeping over.” He defended in a sharp response, his pupils dilating with a reddish color as he blinked back the tears that were about dropping off his face.He had never witness Lisa in such a state full of disdain, one fueled and directed at him. Lisa had always been so positive and good minded, seeing her this irritated and filled with rage made him question his emotions, his feelings. How much is she hurting?Back then when he would treated her with less value, with no worth and like a slave. How was she doing then and surviving, how did she stayed in love with him.“You would thought she would be returning.” She scoffed after repeating his response in a sarcastic tone, her head nodding sideways as she reached out to the stuffs placed on the bed with her.“I’m done Kurt, you’ve treated me enough. I’m going to file for divorce and you’re going to free me. You really should stop pretending now, you never loved me, I was a fool to ever believe you will or did.” She said to him, while she busied herself with putting her phone and car keys into her beg.Done with it, she motioned her feet off the bed placing it into her heel that must have been taken off before they laid her down.“What do you mean by that. Lisa you don’t mean it, you can’t file for divorce or mean anything you’re saying. I love you and you have to think of our baby, yes I accept that I own your pregnancy. Please Lisa, let’s think this through.” He sought into begging as he morphed a pleading look with his palms clasping together.“You know you’ve done a lot of things right?” She quizzed with her head whipping to the side to face him.“And I’m willing to spend the rest of my life making up for it. Don’t consider breaking things up with me, please I’m begging you.” He closed the space between them, sliding his arms around her body as he held her to fit into his arms.“I’m swearing to you on my life, I had no idea what I had with Rhea, it wasn’t of my knowledge to end up in bed with her. I think she drugged me or something, but please don’t go through with whatever you are planning to do. I don’t want to lose you, I can’t lose you, I love you Lisa Briggs. Please, don’t leave me, I beg you.” He spoke out of his heart, that was drenched in his emotions.Sincerity sparkled from his eyes as both pupils gazed down on Lisa, he stared into her eyes gaping right at her soul.Lisa scoffed as she chewed on her tongue on the inside, glancing down at his feet as he let out a small chuckle.“Damn. I almost fell again.” She said in a laughing voice, snickering at her own words.“Get your hands off me!” She warned afterwards, her voice turning cold in an instant as she cast a glare down at the arms circling her waist.“Lisa-““Ain’t you tired?” The veined questioning look went up to match his gaze, “Huh?” Her brows lifted .“Aren’t you tired of lying and manipulating me? Of always using me and exhorting my genuine feelings for you? Are you not fucking tired already!” She yelled out, head tipping backward in the scream with her lids briefly concealing.“Huh? Answer me you monster!” She brawled as she slammed her both hands on her chest, summoning all her strength into her hands as she pushed him away from her.It was a vain attempt, Kurt never bulged. Instead tipped on the spot where he was as he allowed himself fell under the distress of his emotions, tears escaped his eyes, streaming down his cheeks.“I’m not lying, Lisa. I really do love you.” He said out of sincerity.“Then tell me why you were naked in bed with the secretary you’ve been fucking not once, not twice, not three times, but literally since we’ve been together! And remember when you first claim to love me and you’ve ended things with her, I told you to what? Sack her because I know she was a bad egg, you waved me off- probably because you will miss fucking her pussy and you were just trying to win your stupid bet with Marcus!”Lisa said all in one go without taking a breath to keep her lungs steady, she fumed at him struggling to get out of his hold. His hold weakened at the mention of Marcus, he gasped out silently as he stepped back and away from her.She knew! How long had she known.“Speechless? Yeah that’s more like it, enough now with your lies. I will stop by your office to drop the divorce file, and I want you to know this Kurt. I’m not about to let you off so easily, you’re going to pay for each and every thing you’ve done to me.” She took a step forward uttering her statement, a menacing look surfacing her expression that glared fiercely at Kurt.“From using me,” she pinned on her pinky as she began listing, “To abusing me, to treating me like I’m the absolute worst to exist. I will make you pay for everything.” She inferred, her brows lifted as she concluded her threat, stepping away from her and resuming the distance.“And it is not Lisa Briggs anymore, it is Lisa Carter. You’re about to face karma.” With that muttered to his face, she marched right past him and outside exiting the room to him alone. He stood there motionless, eyes gaping at the empty sight of the room.He had truly lost his wife forever. He sank down to his knees, tears wheeling down his cheeks as he recalled to all he has done to her.He never really wanted to be a monster towards her, but each time he remembers what was done to him, he couldn’t help the trigger, thus pushing him to doing formidable things. He would take it all back if he could, he really would. And that this moment, played out in front of him is his moment of regret, where he wish to turn back the hand of time and rectify his wrong while in the doing. Lisa stormed out of the wardroom, ridding her eyes of the liquid wetting it when she collided with Leo just some far paces down the hallway.“Leo, I thought you’d be gone.” She said, looking at him with an awed face.“Well I just found out the most interesting thing ever, I was coming to excuse you from your husband so I can discuss it with you.” He seemed hyped, super hyped about what he just discovered or found out.“What is it?”“I’m your brother Lisa, and I have been searching for you for quite the years. I’m your big brother.”He is what?!Chapter 6: An Anonymous Call. Lisa halted on her walking tracks, his recent words repeating all over in her brain at a dingy solo sound. If she heard correctly, he just claimed to be her brother and to have been searching for her for quite the year. She turned around, her paled expression coming to face him to see the seriousness gashing his face. He was serious with his claim. “What are you talking about?” She asked, still believing she heard wrong of what the strange man who saved her mentioned. There was no way he was being serious, how could she have a brother. She was the last and the only survivor of The Carter family, where did he come from, he must be joking. “We should talk, I can drive you back to your car. There we’ll discuss all that is there to know.” He proffered, coming to a stop ahead of her. Lisa gaped with confusion. Of course she needed illumination to whatever he might be insinuating about so she accepted to take his ride. Throughout the walk back to the ca
Chapter 7: Obsessed It Seems. Kurt had just gotten his heart shattered into a million pieces, he stood there with a droopy aura drowning his entire soul. Lisa had just walked out on him and he has no idea how to beg, what else to do? He knew nothing about how he arrived on that bed with Rhea. He could swear, but Lisa was done believing him. His phone vibrated with a ding repeatedly in his pockets, series of messages popping into the phone made him snapped out of his hurting moment. He brought out his phone and all the notifications were derived from a single person who sent him multiple texts. He scrolled open his phone, tapping on the message bar to see the pictures that were forwarded to him from his secretary, Rhea. A message was then attached at the end of the pictures. “You want proof, there is your proofs.” The text screened in his vision, he read the message before going through the pictures. It was his wife, captured together with his enemy. Callan Myers. He swiped thr
Chapter 8: Brother With The Past. Lisa was uncannily quiet throughout the ride to Leo’s home. She had her mind occupied by the strange call she received a while back with a very familiar voice uttering quite the threatening statement. She was threatened and was stuck wondering who was behind it. Leo halted his motioning car to a stop at a nicely marked garage, stepping out of the car as he ushered Lisa to do the same. He led her straight into his well structured and modernized home, upon walking through the door a middle aged woman showed up. “Mr Woods.” The woman bowed her head, greeting him. “Mrs Elle, this is my sister. Lisa, and Lisa, this is the housekeeper. She’s very nice and I see her more than what she is, if you need anything, just go straight to her.” He made the introduction, glancing from both the woman to Lisa. “Nice to meet you ma’am, I’m Lisa Brig-“ she paused within her sentence, her instantly turning droopy as she realized the name she was about addressing hers
Chapter 9: Vengeance Screams Louder. Lisa hesitated in picking the call, wanting to ignore it because his voice is the last thing she wants to hear at the moment. But then changed her mind to hear the rubbish he has to spew. She picked the call, “Hello,” she forced the word out of her mouth, coming out unfriendly. “You never told me Callan was the man.” A solemn voice dimmed from the phone, the sound tipping Lisa off a small edge. Seems like their separation is taking a toll on Kurt already, but then her mind referred back to his statement. She never told him Callan was the man. Who is Callan? What does it have to do with their situation? What about him is he talking about?“What are you talking about?” She quested for illumination, her brows knitting in confusion. “Don’t play dumb, Lisa. I know everything now, your secret affair with Callan Myers, I know even he’s the owner of your child. I just don’t get the reason why you never told me and rather allow me fall in love with yo
Chapter 10: Contacting His Nemesis. Lisa’s mind relish her moment on phone with Kurt, his bitter words chanting beneath her ears. A litany. Animating her as she mapped upon the veneers of her heart her intended plans for Kurt. He had accused her of an affair with Callan Myers, she might as well launch her revenge from him. A smirk edged her lips at the thought of that, knowing very well who Callan Myers is. The man topping the list of those blacklisted CEOs of Atlanta, he was canceled due to a scandal leaked by no one else other than Kurt, his rival to tame and destroy his nemesis forever. They’ve been at it for quite a long time, ever since Kurt dredged a secret kept by Callan. The secret gaining awareness of Kurt’s knowledge slammed an axe into his bond with Callan. Both were best friends, best of friends, and overnight became enemies. Caught up in the city’s hustle and bustle playing a game of cat and mouse, that was until Kurt grasped a good hold of him and put him down. Ca
Chapter 11: Someone’s A Mess. He sat by the executive chair, slouched down with a bottle half-filled with alcohol hanging down his left hold, while the second slammed his phone into his chest. He had just gotten off the phone with his now Ex Wife, she wouldn’t listen to him, wouldn’t believe him, and worst of all- was cheating on him with someone she’s very sure, he despised with all that runs through his body. That had his heart shattering more than it was before when Lisa demanded a separation. He dragged the bottle of whiskey, pulling it up to his mouth for a heavy gulp when his eyes closed and a tear slid out without consent, rolling down his cheeks as he graced the surface with his palm; cleaning off the particle displaying his emotional state. Kurt placed the bottle he was holding down, deciding it was time to sober up and move on with his life. He has a company to run, and millions of dollars to earn. But the harsh thought of him doing it without the picture of his wife s
Chapter 12: Visiting Callan Myers. Lisa had just finish her meal, she was clearing the tray when her door pushed open, she glanced up to see Leonard slipping through. “Yeah I should learn the habit of knocking.” He reprimanded softly, referencing to himself before coming in fully. Lisa casted an offensive glance, returning her attention to packing up. “Thanks for the hospitality.” Her voice penetrated the awful silence, sliding off her bed as she slipped back into her shoes. “Incase you need to change, I have some wears in that closet. They’re not for females, but would do for a casual appearance at home. You can freshen up and get more comfortable.” He indicated to his statement, hands pointing out in two direction, one at the door of the bathroom and the other at the closet. “Thank-“ her phone pinged, snatching her attention away from Leo. Her head fell to look into her phone, seeing it was a text from Steve. He was done digging and sent to her all the acquired details about h
Chapter 13: A Devilish Deal. At the verge of stepping into the house, Callan extend his arm into blocking Lisa’s body from coming in fully. “Exactly why should I trust the words coming from the wife of my nemesis?” He grilled, eyeing Lisa suspiciously with his brows furrowed. “Correction, Ex Wife because he cheated on me and we’re divorced.” Lisa answered, damn sure her response would yield him to succumb. He scoffed, not totally convinced. “Okay.” He pulled back his arm, letting her come in. “Just know, if this another scheme from you and your husband to destroy my already destroyed life. I’m not gonna let this go and will simply kill the both of you.” He sentenced his threat with seriousness, slamming his door close as he followed Lisa from behind, leading the both of them to his living room. “That is far off the reason why I’m here, and you should wait for some days. News are going to pick it sooner or later that I divorce Kurt Briggs.” She guaranteed her motive, taking a seat
