ARYM ZCHRYNNE “MaiMai” –

I filed for leave today so I could prepare early for the surprise dinner I planned for Jasper. Today is our first wedding anniversary. I’m excited to finally tell him about the arrival of our little angel. I’m sure he’ll be happy—he loves children.

I asked the house staff to help with the cooking. But since this day is so special to me, I wanted to be the one to cook for my husband.

While waiting for Jasper to arrive, I took a shower, dressed in something sexy, and rested for a bit. I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep. I panicked when I woke up—it was already past nine.

Jasper still wasn’t home. He hadn’t sent a single message. I tried calling him three times, but each time he declined my call. I stopped trying—maybe he was really busy. I decided to just wait.

“I hope he comes home early today… it’s our anniversary,” I whispered sadly to myself. I was starting to feel hungry.

Thinking of the baby in my belly, I ate a little of the dessert I had made.

I waited a few more hours, and since I’m pregnant, I got sleepy again quickly. I tried to stay awake.

“Ma’am MaiMai, please rest in your room. I’ll wait for sir,” said Manang Lila, concerned.

“I’m okay, Manang. You go ahead and rest. I’ll take care of things here.”

“Are you sure, ma’am? Just call us if you need anything.” I smiled and nodded at her.

“It’s already midnight,” I muttered, shoulders slumped as I walked to the kitchen. I forced myself to eat a little of the food I had prepared—for the sake of my child. I didn’t bother the staff to clean up. I did it myself.

After tidying up, I went upstairs to change into my sleepwear. I looked at myself in the mirror, feeling sad.

“You’ve really let yourself go. Maybe that’s why he can’t love you—because of how you look. When was the last time you fixed yourself up?” I laughed at myself. I just realized that ever since Jasper and I got married, I hadn’t taken care of anyone but him.

I stared at my reflection for a long time—messy hair, dark circles under my eyes, pale skin, and a slightly bloated body. In other words, I looked worn out. The beautiful figure I once had, often flaunted, was now hidden under oversized clothes. My skin was still fair and smooth, my hair long and straight—but I hadn’t even brushed it all day.

Unlike my husband, who still looked so handsome. Tall, fair-skinned, a sharp nose, seductive lips, gray eyes, and always smelling good. His father is American, after all. I hope our baby inherits his looks—especially those eyes.

I was already lying in bed when Jasper arrived. I picked up a book to distract myself. I felt sad, but I didn’t want to dwell on it—it wouldn’t be good for the baby.

“You’re still awake. Good, I have something to tell you.”

He spoke as if today wasn’t special at all.

“I also have something to tell you… but you go first,” I said seriously. I still planned to tell him about our child.

“Let me change first.” Jasper spent a few minutes in the bathroom. While he was inside, his phone kept ringing. I peeked at the caller—something I wish I hadn’t done.

“Babe Yas,” I read softly from the screen. I froze. My mind raced with awful thoughts.

The bathroom door opened just as the call ended. Clearly, he had taken a shower.

He grabbed a bottle of alcohol and went out to the terrace, which was just beside our bed. I watched his broad back, wondering if he had truly forgotten our anniversary. Did it mean nothing to him? And who was that caller—“Babe Yas”? Could it be his ex-girlfriend? Her name was Yasmine, so it was likely her. My heart ached again.

Jasper walked over and handed me a folder from the table. His gaze was cold.

I took it from him, feeling a strange sense of dread.

“Annulment papers?” I asked, looking into his eyes. I held back my tears. Was this because of the woman he loved?

“Yes. I already signed it. Yours is the only signature missing—but it can wait until tomorrow,” he said casually. Meanwhile, I was shattered.

“After you sign it, I want us to—”

“I understand. I’ll sign it tomorrow. I just want to sleep now, if that’s okay? It’s already 2 a.m.”

He wanted to say more, but I didn’t let him finish. I didn’t want to hear anything else. Even though I was deeply hurt, I didn’t show any sadness or tears in front of him. At least in that moment, I could save a little dignity. I didn’t want to look pitiful.

“Alright. Let’s sleep then,” he said calmly.

I felt Jasper wrap his arms around me from behind and kiss the top of my head. I faced away from him—I didn’t want him to see me cry.

I waited until he was fast asleep. I wouldn’t wait for morning—I would leave on my own. I still had some pride left.

My tears fell onto the annulment papers as I signed them. I covered my mouth tightly to keep from making a sound.

I had already packed a few things. I didn’t bring much when I came here anyway. With a heavy heart, I removed our wedding ring and placed it on top of the annulment papers.

I stared at Jasper one last time and kissed him on the lips. I had no plans of ever showing myself to him again. And if fate ever brought us together again, I was determined not to let him know about our child. I would keep that secret for the rest of my life.

“If the day ever comes when we meet again by chance, I hope the pain in my heart is gone—and that we’re both happy with our lives. Thank you for the beautiful gift you left me. I will care for and love our child for as long as I live.”

You look like dogs who can't take a dump.” Jasper teased his three friends—Cosmo, Yago, and Sven. They were agitated and didn't know what to do.“Why aren't they here yet?” Sven asked anxiously.“Yeah, it’s been minutes, but not one of them has come out yet.” Yago said worriedly.“They haven't changed their minds, have they? Like they became runaway brides?” Cosmo asked fearfully.“There you go! Because you guys are idiots! Taking a bath is a thing! Hahahaha!” Jasper said mockingly. I was about to kiss her on the lips but she immediately pushed me away and covered her mouth.“Hey, wait a minute! I haven't brushed my teeth yet.” Now I know that she is always conscious of her smell. She smells so good, especially her pus… Nevermind. She just smells good, from head to toe.I laughed at Apple when she sat up. She wrapped her whole body thickly, so only her hands and face were visible. It seemed she was shy for me to see her naked body, her alluring body.I suddenly felt hot when I remembered what happened between us last night. It was indeed a night to remember.“You don't have to be shy, sweetheart. I love every part of your body, even your intimate areas.” I pinched her flushed cheeks, which made her pout and glare at me. This is another thing I liked about her, her beautiful eyes. They're slightly slanted

The way she asked it, combined with her seductive-sounding voice, gave me a different feeling. It was soft yet captivating. This must be the doing of the alcohol; I was imagining all sorts of things.“Y-yeah! So please get up before it digs in further.” For goodness sake, she's a living temptation!“Uhm… later. It feels so good here. Don’t be a buzzkill, sir.” My hand trembled when she rubbed her lower body against me. I wanted to stop her from what she was doing because it wasn't right, yet I also didn't want to. What she was doing felt so good! Sh*t!My fists were clenched because I was holding myself back from pushing her away. Could I be selfish, just for now? I wasn't taking advantage of her; she was the one who didn't want to leave my lap. I wanted to give myself the freedom to meet another woman. For a long time, all I saw was MaiMai.

I just shook my head at what she said. I haven't experienced having a mistress, so I can't relate to her.Her face and neck were flushed red from being so drunk. I hadn't paid attention to her at first because she was quietly drinking. The alcohol was starting to hit me because I could feel the numbness in my cheeks.I couldn't accept that despite my sacrifice, the woman I had loved for a long time still didn't choose me. Where there's a will, there's a way.“Tatay, where will my husband— I mean, Yago— sleep then? The living room has mosquitoes.” My Love said with a pout. I secretly smiled at her protest.
