ARYM ZCHRYNNE “MaiMai” –
I bit my lip hard when I woke up the next morning. My whole body ached—especially the center. I felt like I’d been sawed in half. Everything hurt and stung, yet the guy beside me was still fast asleep. Snoring, even. I swear, I wanted to slap him. He looked so innocent, like some holy pope while sleeping, but last night he was a wild beast in bed. Tsk. Why did I even agree to a one-night stand with this guy?
I looked around. I was in an unfamiliar room. I got up slowly because everything hurt. I slapped my forehead when I saw my clothes scattered everywhere. My eyes widened when I spotted my underwear on top of the sofa.
“Shocks! What the hell happened to this?” I whispered to myself. I didn’t just sleep with a lion last night—I think I hooked up with a monster.
After getting dressed, I left in a hurry. It felt weird not wearing underwear. Like a part of me was missing. I ignored the stares from the house staff and guards I passed. I just rushed out.
The next day, I couldn’t go to work—I felt awful. I had a fever. I woke up to my phone ringing nonstop. When I checked, it was just a number. I wasn’t planning to answer, but whoever it was wouldn’t stop.
“Hello!” I snapped, shivering from the cold.
“Where are you? Who told you to leave your husband without asking permission?”
I stared at my phone screen. He was mad because I left without saying goodbye? This guy’s nuts. What is it with all the crazies lately?
“Excuse me, whoever you are. You’ve got the wrong number. First of all, I don’t have a husband. Second, I’m single. Yes, single—as in dumped. Third, I don’t know you. Judging by your voice, you sound like you’re fifty, so there’s no way you’re my husband. That’s all. Bye-bye!”
I hung up quickly, laughing. He didn’t actually sound old. Honestly, he sounded like Kobe Paras. I was just teasing him for disturbing my sleep.
Before I could even put my phone down, the same number called again. Persistent, huh? I wasn’t thinking straight, so instead of declining, I accidentally answered.
“What did you say? I sound like a grumpy old man? You think seven rounds last night weren’t enough, my wife? Where are you, Mrs. Arym Zchrynne Smith?!”
My eyes widened at what he said. Holy—never mind!
“H-huh? I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said, playing dumb. Did he really think I’d chase after him just because we did it multiple times last night? Or that he’d get a repeat performance?
Over my delicious body!
“You’re denying me now. But don’t worry, I just got your info. Be ready—I’ll be there anytime soon, my wife.”
My nose was practically bleeding from all that English. Whatever, let him be.
“This is just a dream, myself. Just a dream. Just a dream. Please let it be a dream.”
I went back to sleep. I wasn’t sure how long I’d been out, but my mind was awake even though my eyes were still shut. I didn’t want to get up. The bed was so soft, and the pillow smelled amazing—like rub-a-da-bango! But wait… why did the pillow feel like it had abs?
I kept feeling around until I touched something harder.
“My little buddy misses you already.”
Oh no—the pillow spoke! I quickly uncovered my eyes.
Sir Jasper clamped his hand over my mouth before I could scream. I wanted to yell from shock and fear—he was in my room! But for some reason, my hand was still on his gearshift? Did I enjoy that?
“Don’t shout. It’s just me—your husband. No need to scream.”
Wow. Bold.
I grabbed his hand off my mouth and shoved it away. What if he just came from the bathroom and didn’t wash properly?
“Who knows where that hand’s been? I don’t want germs in my mouth!”
“Now you’re worried about that? Last night you spent forever sucking my—”
“Shhh! Shut up! My head hurts. What are you doing here? And how did you get in?”
I winced as I tried to stand and put on a bra.
“I have my ways. I came to fetch you.”
“And where are we going?”
“To heaven, then home. I’m taking you back. We’re married now—we shouldn’t be living apart.”
He said it so casually. I was confused.
“What marriage are you talking about, sir? I don’t remember us getting married.”
I only remembered the honeymoon part.
“I knew it would happen, so I had our marriage certificate processed quickly. And no—I didn’t trap you. It wasn’t forced. We both agreed to get married that same day. Here.”
He handed me a brown envelope. Inside was a marriage certificate with both our signatures, plus two witnesses and the officiant. There were also photos of us together. Some included other people—I remembered them. One was the bar owner, the other his personal assistant. The photos were taken inside the bar’s office.
I was speechless, staring at the pictures. Slowly, the memories came back. Sir Jasper was right—nothing was forced. I was the one who demanded it. Alcohol really is dangerous.
“Shit, I’m dead,” I whispered to myself.

I'm not talkative when I'm drunk; as my ex-husband used to say, I'm only loud in bed.Wait. Why do I always mention him? I just rolled my eyes in my mind. I messaged Sven and my child again. Zanyca must be asleep by now because her last message said she was going to sleep. Sven had been waiting for my reply for a while, so I messaged him that I was going to sleep too. Some people were still drinking when Jane and I left. The couple escorted me to my room. It was at the far end. I was dizzy, but I still needed to wash up before sleeping. I wanted to swim in the sea, but I was afraid something might happen to me, and I'd be mistaken for a mermaid. I'll just swim in the sea near our house instead. After showering, I immediately lay down because my body was really tired and sleepy. I wasn't full

I didn’t want him to—my friends would definitely see him, and I didn’t want any drama. But he’s so good at guilt-tripping me.Just because I saw my ex-husband again, he said I was already pushing him aside. He started saying all sorts of things, so I just agreed to avoid the drama.I don’t actually have work tomorrow since it’s Friday. That’s why Sven was so persistent—he said the trip would be long and we’d head straight to my parents’ place afterward.I was sweating from the nerves earlier, so I took off my blazer. My beige mini dress was backless, exposing my back.“You and Papa Sven took forever!” Virgilio teased.I didn’t respond—just smiled at him. But in my head, I’d already slapped him a dozen times.“Hey, bestie, who was that? You haven’t told me anything.” Jane asked as I sat down.“Nothing to tell. He’s just the godfather of—” I s

I wasn’t sure if there were truly no other seats available, or if he deliberately placed my ex-husband right in front of me.I felt someone sit down across from me. Not to assume, but it felt like he was staring at me. I was slightly hunched over, fiddling with my phone.I smiled when I read Zanyca’s message:“Mommy, grandfather taught me how to catch a fish. I’m so happy ‘cause I caught a big one—they called it tilapia! And grandfather caught some crabs too. It’s so scary, my gosh!”I could already imagine her face while telling the story.Suddenly, the room went quiet. I felt like everyone was looking in my direction. I frowned and looked up at Virgilio, raising an eyebrow. He was grinning from ear to ear. The couple looked like they were about to faint from excitement, and I had no

It was as if someone had been watching my every move from somewhere nearby.I tried to ignore the creeping anxiety. It would be embarrassing to suddenly leave in the middle of the wedding.Jane was overjoyed when I told her I’d attend her wedding. I even promised to stay overnight at the resort where the ceremony and reception were being held. I agreed, on the condition that I’d leave early the next morning because of work. My friends accepted that excuse—though it was just that, an excuse.“My expired bestie!!! I missed you so much. You look stunning! You’ve gotten even prettier and sexier. That short hair suits you perfectly.”Jane rushed toward me, excited. We hugged tightly. I hugged her groom too. I never thought these two friends of mine would actually end up together. Imagine—both of them have feminin

He was handsome too, just as tall as Sven and still quite young. Maybe just a few years older than me, but I didn’t like the way he looked at me.“Thanks, but no, Architect. I don’t drink alcohol,” I declined respectfully.“Oh, I see. I’m sorry about that,” he replied with a smile. He didn’t seem offended by my refusal.Sven had gone to the restroom for a moment, so I was alone at our table.“Do you need anything, Architect Lopez?” came Sven’s baritone voice. His brows were furrowed, clearly displeased.“Nothing, Mr. Tan. I just offered Ms. MaiMai a drink.”“Thanks for the offer, but she doesn’t drink alcohol.”“Yeah, she already told me. We had an office there for transactions. As usual, Sven want
