3. Little rebel

Ethan's POV

“Lush!” I called out for her as I rushed out the café.

She was ahead of me and I almost ran to catch up with her. Holding her hand, stopping from moving forward, was perhaps a wrong move. She jerked my hand and turned around with her tears half way down her cheeks. She looked broken.

Fuck.

“Just leave. I-I need some time, please.” She said, without making any eye contact.

I tried to stop her, but seeing in that state my heart sank, I couldn’t gather the courage to stop her. I bit my inner cheek cursing the entire meeting. If only she hadn’t invited that friend of hers, I would’ve broken up with Lush on a lot better note. Even on a sunny day, goosebumps rose all over my body and the guilt of giving her pain, made me feel bad.

I honestly wouldn’t care for a girl so much, but she was someone my brother was in love with. Yes, Theodore, my older brother, likes Lush. Another reason I decided to break up with her.

I had been hanging out with Lush, for a few days. We clicked pretty quick and our conversations changed into flirtatious hangouts very swiftly. But recently, I got to know that my brother was into someone. Unlike me, he has had a minimum share of being with girls all over the city. As excited as I was, once I found out Theo was into Lush, I just decided to let go.

I thought I was lucky, since me and Lush weren’t dating and she still wasn’t as attached to me, leaving her would be easy. But my life appeared shattering in front of me when she asked me out when we went for dinner, together. Seeing her smile that day, I couldn’t say no.

It has been almost a week to that. Basically, to us being ‘official’ and yet every day I try to tell her everything but I lose words as soon as her happy. I would’ve told her eventually anyways, but I was just trying to not break her heart, which was basically impossible.

But her friend ruined all my plans.

I sighed and decided to go back home, because there was nothing I could think of doing. Walking back to parking area, Lush’s friend, unlocking her car, which was parked right beside mine. She noticed me immediately and made the grumpiest face a woman could possibly make. I wonder how can she store so much anger in her little body.

The urge to go up to her and ask what personal grudge she had against me was very vital. Wait, is she one of the girls I’ve hooked up with? Or possibly one of their friends? Whatever it may, I just knew she hates me and honestly, I don’t like her either. Her eyes wanted argument and my curiosity led me to her, but just when I was a step away from her, she abruptly opened the door and sat in.

I just pursed my lips furrowing my eyebrows looking at her, almost making her annoyed, which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. She drove back purposely fast hitting the side view mirror right above member, because I was standing too close to her car.

“FUCK!” I winced in pain, almost sitting on the ground. Yes, I could see the stars in front of my eyes.

Everything almost became blind as the hit was very hard. I gritted my teeth so hard that the amount of pain down there and above was both equivalent. For a few seconds I couldn’t make out what was going on around me, as if I have ascended from earth to mars. Elon Musk, finally made it indeed.

Gathering my conscious back, I realised someone had their hand in front of me to help me get up. I smiled and was about to hold their hand, “Thank yo-” I paused in the middle seeing who the person was.

Lush’s friend.

I gave her a death glare and she laughed, “Bitch, you thought.”

“Huh?” I looked at her with a bewildered look and before I could make sense of the entire scene, she instead of lending me her hand, pushed me back, making me fall on the ground with a loud thud. Especially because I was already not sitting in a balanced position.

Before I could catch her, she had already run to her car, driving off. That little girl is more agile than she looks. I got up and sat in my car with the pain never leaving, but it was bearable. I was about to drive off when I got a call from Theodore.

“Where are you?” He asked, as soon as I picked up the call.

“Uh, I am outside.” I said, trying to catch a breath.

“Why do you sound like that? Are you okay?” he asked, making me gulp hard.

“Yeah, I am. Don’t worry.” I said clearing my throat.

“Don’t worry? Did something happen?” He asked sounding concerned this time.

“Nothing, ah.” I groaned in pain, “Nothing, I’m fine.” I said, sighing.

“The fuck you mean you are fine. I can literally hear you groaning in pain. Just tell me where you are, I’m com-” Theodore was interrupted with my abrupt shout,

“NO!”

“I’m seriously fine, Theo.” I said, trying to remain calm, because I knew Theodore was already worried.

“Well, if you are going to behave like this then okay sure, have fun dying.” He said getting angry.

“I didn’t mean it like that.” I said, in a nicer tone.

“I won’t know until you tell me, E.” He said, putting great emphasis on my name.

“I, uh, I’m sorry. But nothing happened seriously.” I lied. I can never let Theodore know about this entire situation. If he gets to know about me and Lush, he will never take his feelings into better consideration, because I know how much he loves me and he would sacrifice anything for me.

“Fine.” He said and I took a breath of relief.

“I called you to tell you to come here, at office today. But never mind, you rest, asshole.” He said making me chuckle.

“Send me chocolate donuts, please.”

“Fuck you.” He said before cancelling the call.

I threw my phone on the passenger seat and recalling the incident, my lower body started hurting. If I ever see her again, will throw her in the river. I have never seen a girl as rebellious as her. So much anger stored in her tiny existence. I like that I am a lot taller than her, it would be fun to tower over her.

Ugh, that freaking little bolshie!
