Chapter one

Three years ago....

Addams residence....

"Get out of this house! I do not need a daughter like you!" Casper Addams shouted.

"Dad, believe me, I did not try to kill Caroline! I was framed by someone!" Ava begged while crying.

"Framed? By who? Who would want to frame you?" Casper asked.

"Yes" Ava said.

"I do not believe you one bit! I have tolerated you long enough, and it is high time you leave this house," Mark said glaring at Ava.

"Dad please... if you chase me out, I do not have anywhere to go to," Ava pleaded with tears in her eyes.

"Who is your dad? I am not your father! So leave! Go and pack your things!" Mark shouted.

Ava tried to beg him for some time but mark was headstrong and determined to chase her out of the house.

"And also park the belongings of that boy you call your younger brother!" Mark shouted

"Honey, calm down, you need to take care of your health,," Sharon said, massaging Mark's chest.

as Ava was climbing the stairs to go to the room the room she and her younger brother Matt shares.

"That how can you refer to Matt like that? He is your only son!" Ava shouted in between her tears.

"I do not have disobedient, useless and unfilial children like you both! Sharon will bear a son for me. I do not need you or your brother!" Mark said.

Sharon was behind Mark, smiling. She was very happy that Ava and her brother were finally out of the way for her and her daughter. They are the only ones that can inherit the fortune of the Addams family. 'look Catherine, I have reclaimed what is rightfully mine and am now the madam and the only wife to Mark Addams and now your daughter and son is no more among the Addams family and there is nothing you can do about it' Sharon sneered and laughed evilly before she proceeded to talk to Mark.

"How can I calm down? Clara is in the hospital fighting for her life because of that unfilial child and you expect me to calm down!" Mark said.

"If you do not calm down, we would have one more person admitted into the hospital and you do not want Clara to know that her father is in the hospital when she wakes up, do you?" Sharon asked.

"You are right, I will calm down," mark said.

Few minutes later, Ava is finished packing her and her brother's luggage and was coming down the stairs and saw her father and her stepmother chatting happily and watching a show on the television.

Mark and Sharon turned their heads towards the stairs when they heard footsteps coming down.

Ava looked at them but did not say anything and dragged the luggage and walked towards the door. When her hands touched the door handle, she stopped, turned and looked at Mark and Sharon with contempt. She dried her tears.

"You would regret this day in the future and by that time, it would be too late. You would regret chasing I and my brother, your legitimate children out of the house and we would never step foot into this house again....

As from today onwards, we are strangers and if by chance we tumble or run into each other, I request that you pretend you do not know us, goodbye and have a very good life" Ava said and opened the door and left the house in tears.

Ava walked down the road side with tears in her eyes. Suddenly rain started pouring down and she has to find where to stay to avoid the rain. She ran and came across a big tree that was big enough to accommodate and shade her away from the rain. She waited to for the rain to stop. She waited for almost an hour before the rain could stop.

She cleaned the droplets of the rain on her cloth and proceeded to leave, but she stopped when she heard a low grunt from behind the tree. She froze and became scared. She did not know which noise she heard, but she was sure that it was from a human being.

She tried to calm down and started walking towards the back of the tree. She closed her eyes and stretched her head, but was shocked and speechless when she opened her eyes.

There was a man laying on the ground holding onto the left side of his stomach, which was bleeding and he looked like he has lost a lot of blood and was very pale. The man looked like he was around twenty-nine or thirty years old but Ava can not deny the fact that he was very handsome even when his face was pale and he was squeezing it repeatedly to cob the pain he was feeling.

"Help...help" the man said, but his voice was hoarse and was not loud because he would feel pain when he talks.

"Hmm? What did you say?" Ava came closer to hear what he was saying.

"Help me," the handsome said with great difficulty. He reaches out his hand for Ava to hold. Ava went closer and held his hand.

"How did you end up like this?" Ava asked, scared. Her hands were cold and trembling. "What should I do to help you?" Ava asked.

"My phone.... pocket" the man said in uncompleted sentences. He could not talk for a long time.

"Your phone?" Ava thought of what he was trying to say and her eyes lit up when she understood what he was trying to tell her to do. "You want me to call someone with your phone?" Ava asked, and the man nodded his head.

"Okay, where is your phone?" Ava asked, looking around for his phone.

"It is....in my pocket," the man said.

"Oh it is in your pocket" Ava got the message and started touching the pockets on both sides to know which pocket his phone was in. She touched his left pocket on his pants and felt his phone and she put in her hand and brought out his phone.

She put it on and saw that the phone needed a password to open it and she turned to the man, "what is the password?" Ava asked.

"45***90," the man said. Ava typed in the password and the phone opened. As she was about to ask him who to call, she heard voices and footsteps approaching them. She peeped from behind the tree and saw different men in black. They were holding different dangerous weapons in their hands and they were looking dangerous.

"Search for him! He would not have gone far!" One of the men ordered. He seems to be the boss.

"Yes boss!" The rest said, and they left, but the boss remains behind and was looking towards the tree.

Ava became scared and was praying silently that the man would stop walking towards the tree. The boss was almost near the tree when he heard the others call him. He stopped walking towards the tree and turned and left in the direction that the others went.

"Thank you God!" Ava was beyond thankful that they were saved. She waited until she was sure that all the men had left before she came out and input the password to the phone again because the phone locked after she did not use it.

She scrolled through the contact and saw the number saved as assistant Adam. She dialed the number. The phone ringed twice before it was answered. She could hear a panicked voice from the other person.

"Boss! Boss!" the person said.

"Boss? Is he a gangster? If he is a gangster, did she just save a gangster?" Ava thought, but she looked at the man lying on the ground again and dispelled the thought.

"Hello, is this assistant Adam?" Ava asked.

"Yes, who are you? And why are you with my CEO's phone?" Adam asked.

"CEO? This man owns a company?" Ava was surprised.

"Hello, why are you not talking?" Adam asked.

"Oh sorry, your boss is here with me and he was the one that told me to call you," Ava said.

"Okay, please tell me where you both are and we would be there immediately," Adam said.

"We are at...." Ava told him the address to where they were.

"Thank you," Adam said and ended the call. Ava turned to the man. She saw he was still bleeding, and she removed her scarf around her neck and tied it around his waist tightly to stop the bleeding.

"Be awake. I already called your people, and they said that they would be here very soon. Try not to sleep," Ava said.

Few minutes later, different cars stopped in front of the tree. Ava first went out to be sure that it was the same person she spoke to that came.

"Please, are you the lady that called me?" Adam asked.

"Yes" Ava said.

"Where is our boss?" Adam asked immediately.

"Here" Ava took him behind the tree where the man was laying.

"Help me up," the man said immediately he saw Adam.

"Boss!" Adam said and went close to help the man up.

Adam helped his boss to the car. The other bodyguards opened the back door of the car that looked more expensive than the other and Adam helped the man sit inside the car. When the man sat, he raised his hand and gestured Ava to go close to him.

Ava walked to the car and stood close to him.

"What is your name?" The man asked.

"Ava... Ava Addams," Ava replied.

"Get me my briefcase," the man ordered Adam. Adam ordered a bodyguard to get the briefcase, and the briefcase was brought and opened in front of the man.

Ava's mouth dropped open when she saw what was inside the briefcase. Money was inside and s huge one at that! Who carries this much money around with him? I guess he is rich.

"Take" the man took out like many bundles of money and gave Ava.

"No...no...there is no need to pay me, I just helped you on my own accord not for you to pay me," Ava rejected the money.

" Just take it. You just saved my boss's life, so he is giving you this money as a thankful for saving his life," Adam explained.

Ava contemplated for a while and decided to collect the money. The situation she is in now is indeed serious and she is in need of money as her brother is going to graduate soon and she needed buy him a gift.

"Thank you," she thanked him.

Adam closed the door and went to the driver's seat and started the car and drove off.

Ava immediately took the luggages she was with and went to look for a house that she and her brother would stay in.

She searched for some hours before she found a place. It was a flat in an apartment complex she bought so that here they would not have a hard time paying rent.

When she was arranging the house and decorating it, her phone rang. She rushed to the living room and picked up her phone from the small coffee table. She saw that it was her brother calling, and she picked it but it was another voice she heard.

"Hello, are you Miss Ava?" the female voice said.

"Yes, I am,what is the matter? Is anything wrong?" Ava asked. She was scared.

"Yes. Your brother fainted and was brought to the hospital and we need you to come to the hospital to settle his admission process," the nurse said.

"What?" Ava exclaimed.

"What is wrong with my brother?" Ava asked as she collapsed on the floor due to shock.

"We do not know yet as he is undergoing tests now," the nurse said.

"Which hospital?" Ava asked as she stood up off the floor and rushed into her room to put on some clothes.

"F city hospital," the nurse said.

"Okay, I am coming," Ava said and ran out of the house.
