CHAPTER SEVEN - YOU ARE MY BOSS!

Chapter seven

Ava's small apartment .....

"Hurry up Ava or you are going to be late!" Matt shouted from the living room of the small apartment she was renting.

"I'm almost done!" Ava said. Few minutes later, Ava walked out of the room.

"Wow!" Matt said obviously surprised.

"How do I look?" Ava asked while turning around for her brother to see. Matt was discharged after casper and Sharon came to make a scene in other to disrupt his recovery. Derrick offered them to let them stay at his house but they refused ( Ava to be exact 😀 ).

"You look good, you would definitely draw the attention of all the men in the company!" Matt said with honesty.

"Stop joking around" Ava said and proceeded to the door to wear her shoes.

"I am not lying sis. I would not be surprised if the CEO falls in love with you" Matt said.

"How can you say that? The CEO is way above my league, he can't possibly fall in love with someone like me" Ava said.

"Ava, do not look down on yourself like that. You are a very beautiful, talented, independent and kind person, who would not fall in love with you, unlike someone..." Before Matt could finish what he was saying, Ava interrupted him because she already knew who he was referring to and she did not want to spoil her happy mood.

"That's enough Matt. I am off now, I will ask Suzy to come and stay with you to look after you" Ava shouted while walking fast.

"I am not a ba... Okay" Matt wanted to refuse his sister's friend coming but decided against it when he thought of his current situation.

Derrick's office.....

"Come in" Derrick said.

Ava arranged her clothes, using her hand to clean the invisible dust her cloth and she walked in....

Ava saw the CEO sitting down with his back facing her so she could not see his face.

"Good morning sir" Ava said and also bowed her head but on raising her head she was shocked.

"You....you are my boss!" Ava shouted.

"Yes" Derrick smiled while looking at her. He stood up and left his leather chair and walked towards the mini living area in his office.

"Have a seat" Derrick said to the shocked Ava. Ava walked towards the mini living area and sat down beside Derrick.

"This is what you meant when you said that I was already paying you back?" Ava asked.

"Yes" Derrick said.

"But why did you not tell me that you were my boss?" Ava asked as if she was wronged.

"I was to surprise you and from your reaction , it worked" Derrick laughed.

"Stop laughing" Ava said.

"Sorry... sorry" Derrick said, "I...." Before Derrick could continue, he was interrupted by the door suddenly been pushed opened and Derrick already knew that the only person who would dare to walk into his office without knocking.

"Hello Derrick!" Luke shouted and swaggered into his office but he stopped abruptly when his eyes caught sight of Ava.

"Hello sis...." the look that Derrick have him made te word he wanted got stuck in his mouth, "hello miss Ava" Luke greeted cheerfully.

"Hello" Ava greeted back surprised by Luke's outgoing behavior. He heard the way he greeted her boss and could guess that he must be his friend but they are polar opposites.

"Are you not going to introduce us to each other?" Luke asked eagerly while looking at Derrick.

Derrick rubbed his temple with his hand and said, " Ava, this is my friend and deputy CEO, Luke and Luke this is Ava, my personal assistant" he said and stood and went back to his leather chair.

"So, miss Ava do you like being Derrick's personal assistant? If not you can come and work for me and I will definitely treat you well" Luke kept on talking.

"Shut up and leave if you do not have anything to do in my office and stop trying to steal my personal assistant" Derrick said.

"Stop been a kill joy Derrick" Luke said.

Derrick did not pay attention to Luke, he said to Ava, " Ava, you can meet Adam outside and he would put you through everything you need to know about your position."

"Okay sir" Ava said and stood up, looked at Luke, "have a nice day Mr Luke" she bowed and walked out of the office.

"And you too miss Ava" Luke said.

Derrick is the cold, calm and dominating kind of aura but Luke has the friendly, cheerful and outgoing personalities.

"Interesting" Ava thought.

After Ava left the atmosphere in the office turned serious.

"What did you find out?" Derrick asked. He walked back to the mini living area.

"You would be shocked if I told you what I found out" Luke said.

"Stop beating around the bush and tell me what you found out about Ava's mother's accident" Derrick said impatiently.

Luke wanted to tease Derrick but saw his impatience, he stopped.

"Sharon was behind Ava's mother's accident" Luke said in one breath and immediately Derrick's gave turned cold as if he was ready to kill someone.

"What did you just say? Are you sure of it?" Derrick asked.

" Very sure! Sharon planned the whole accident,she made it look like it was an accident" Luke said.

"Okay, thanks" Derrick said and stood up from the chair.

"Are you going to tell Ava?" Luke asked looking at Derrick with curiosity to know what he would say because it's obvious that his friend loves Ava but he does not want to admit it.

"Not yet" Derrick said.

"Why? It about her mother" Luke asked.

"She just started work today and If I tell her now, she would be distracted and might take rash actions" Derrick said.

"You really love this girl, right?" Luke asked.

"I do not love her, I am only worried about her as my employee" Derrick retorted.

"Okay, if you say so" Luke said and went back to his office.
