LOGINFrom the sound of the knocking, Amanda could tell this visitor came with hostility.
She opened the door. Standing outside was Barry. The man wore a black suit, tall and upright like a pine tree, with gold-rimmed glasses resting on his nose. His demeanor exuded cold detachment and arrogance, his presence sharp and commanding.
Their eyes met. Amanda’s gaze remained calm and serene, but inside, hatred surged like roaring waves.
Barry had heard from the butler that his little uncle’s new bride was named Amanda, and had come over to see for himself.
At the wedding, he had thought the bride looked familiar. Then, upon hearing her name, he had hardly slept a wink that night.
Looking at the face before him now, the skin was flawless and delicate, pale and radiant. It couldn’t possibly be Amanda. It must just be a name coincidence. After all, the Amanda from six years ago had died in that massive fire.
“You’re called Amanda?” His tone carried not a shred of respect.
Beautiful, indeed.
But unfortunate.
Who knows how many days she has left?
“Who are you?” Amanda’s eyes glanced over him lightly, her peach blossom eyes tilting up slightly at the corners—a simple movement, yet utterly lethal.
Staring at her breathtaking face and hearing that alluring voice, Barry was momentarily captivated.
“I’m Barry, your little uncle’s nephew,” he introduced himself.
As long as she wasn’t the Amanda from six years ago, he could relax. That Amanda had suffered deep, disfiguring burns—if she had survived at all, she couldn’t possibly have such a stunning face now.
A flicker of annoyance crossed Amanda’s face.
“Get lost! Then don’t disturb your little uncle’s rest!”
Bang— the door slammed shut in one smooth motion.
No doubt—this woman was not to be messed with.
Amanda’s lips curved into a mysterious smile.
The game had only just begun.
Barry, just wait. From this moment on, peace will no longer be a part of your life.
Outside, Barry was seething.
This woman dared treat him like this?
His assistant, standing not far away, was indignant on behalf of his boss.
“Boss, she’s only just married into the family and already shows such an attitude. Where does she get that confidence?”
“She should know her place. Acting so arrogantly in front of you—who does she think she is?”
Barry looked at the closed door and sneered coldly.
“Arrogant indeed.”
In Cindale, there had never been a woman who dared speak to him like that.
This woman had provoked him.
“She’s your little uncle’s woman—your aunt. Isn’t a bit of arrogance in front of you her right?”
A calm yet commanding voice, even more arrogant than Amanda’s, came from nearby.
Barry turned and met the challenging gaze of the man who had just arrived.
He stood over six feet tall, dressed casually in a white shirt and black pants. His air was refined and elegant like the moon, his features sculpted like a painting. His peach blossom eyes were coolly distant, his nose well-shaped, and his lips red and soft like pearls.
Seeing him, even Barry couldn’t help but feel a hint of respect.
This man was Brad, Benjamin’s right-hand man.
“Mr. Spader, we won’t disturb my uncle’s rest then,” Barry said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
His voice was polite, but inwardly he seethed.
Soon, he would take Benjamin’s place.
Soon, Benjamin would be dead.
Brad said nothing, simply watching Barry leave.
Then he pushed the door open and entered.
What met his eyes was a stunningly beautiful face, arms wrapped around her knees, looking despondent and miserable—clearly the look of someone unwilling to marry just to "ward off bad luck."
He gave her a quick glance, then scolded, “Is this how you care for Benjamin, as his wife?”
Still reeling from her encounter with Barry, Amanda was jolted back by Brad’s voice. She slowly stood and looked him over.
Her eyes, bright like black gemstones, blinked once.
And then she dropped to her knees—instantly.
This man… was a dream come true!
How could someone be so handsome?
Those lips—surely soft and kissable.
Those legs—so tempting. She mustn't stare too long, or she might just pounce.
Amanda had always been weak against beautiful men.
“Sorry… I haven’t quite gotten used to the role of wife yet,” she murmured, voice low and filled with sorrow.
Brad couldn’t help but take another look at her.
She was almost too beautiful.
Then his gaze shifted to Benjamin lying on the bed, and he spoke calmly,
“To be his wife is your honor.”
He would find Samantha as soon as possible—Samantha could save both Benjamin and Mark.
Amanda detected the sadness in his voice.
It was like she had just stolen his boyfriend.
So full of jealousy!
She was a little shaken. How could such a gorgeous man… be gay? Life was so unfair.
“Sorry for stealing your boyfriend. I just need to borrow him for two months. I’ll return him untouched,” she said sincerely.
But Brad suddenly looked at her like he’d seen a ghost.
Mrs. Ashford was unaware of Malcolm’s background, but Gordon Ashford, her husband, knew exactly who he was. Malcolm was once the most powerful man in Dynastia—a man who had reportedly passed away in his prime, leaving everyone who knew of him in deep regret."You... you are Malcolm?" Gordon looked at him in shock. He and his wife had been missing for years; everyone assumed they were dead. They were still alive? And they were Amanda’s parents?Malcolm looked at Mrs. Ashford with a sneer. "Putting aside the fact that the Reed family of Dynastia is countless times wealthier than your Ashford family, even my current personal wealth is greater than yours. Just who do you think you’re looking down on?"Mrs. Ashford opened her mouth, but no words came out. She knew exactly what kind of entity the Reed family was. She never imagined Amanda would be one of them."Regardless, I want my grandson!" Mrs. Ashford had always been a woman of means. If Amanda wouldn't give him up, she could just try
Gilbert gave a mysterious smirk, glancing at the retreating backs of the Parker siblings. "Amanda, forget about her. She’s not a good person. You should stay away from her from now on."Amanda looked at her brother curiously and smiled. "Weren't you quite fond of her before?"Gilbert: "...""Amanda, who said I was fond of her? You are the only woman I love in this world. I don't care about anyone else," Gilbert said with a grin, leaning his head on his Amanda’s shoulder. Amanda possessed a strange, magnetic energy that naturally drew people to her.Seeing this, Benjamin narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing in his gaze. *This Benjamin of mine seems to have lost his spine.*Meanwhile, Calvin was preoccupied, wondering where Cindy had gone. He didn't even notice the expressions of the other three.Amanda was worried about little Charles. As soon as she walked through the door, she saw her parents teasing the baby."Dad, Mom, we’re back." Morning light broke through the curtains.Cindy opened her eyes to an unfamiliar environment, and for a moment, her brain stalled. *Who am I? Where am I?*Then, reality hit. Hazy memories slowly sharpened and cleared. The drunkenness. Hugging a man’s arm and refusing to let go. And then... then, the very thing she had been anticipating—the event she had secretly hoped for—actually played out exactly as she had imagined. They had arrived at the hotel. She had undressed him. She had playfully teased... stoked the fires of his desire. And finally, the wild, uninhibited act itself. That saying was truly right: *A woman in her thirties is like a wolf, and in her her forties, a tiger!*Cindy suddenly whipped her head to the side, and Calvin’s handsome face appeared right before her eyes."Ah..." Her mouth fell open wide enough to fit an egg. She had actually slept with Calvin last night?*"Cindy, stop messing around. If you keep this up, you're playing with fire."*Calvin’s deep, heavy brea
The moment Amanda was knocked into the swimming pool, a sentence suddenly flashed through her mind: Flaunt your love, and it’ll end in a flash!Splash! Amanda fell into the pool. The sensation of suffocation struck instantly. Despair, helplessness, and a bone-chilling touch surrounded her. After choking on a few mouthfuls of water, she didn't even struggle. Her limp body sank directly to the bottom of the pool."Ah!"The crowd watched in shock as Amanda lost consciousness. The pool water was crystal clear, allowing everyone to see her condition perfectly. The man who had collided with her was also stunned."It wasn't me! Someone pushed me from behind, and I just stumbled into this lady!" The man looked at Amanda, who was lying still at the bottom of the pool, with frantic terror."Wife!" A low roar suddenly erupted.Everyone turned to see Benjamin’s agile figure dive into the water with a loud splash. He swam desperately toward Amanda. Seeing this, Brad turned to Robin: "Go prepare th
Patrick was dressed in a vibrant red suit—bold, handsome, and devilishly charming, yet with an underlying edge of coldness. A soft, knowing smile played on his lips. Under the brilliant glow of the crystal chandeliers, his red suit appeared even more intense and fiery.Standing before the microphone, Patrick playfully winked at Amanda.Amanda: "...""Apologies for being late. I just got off the plane, and the traffic on the way was a bit of a nightmare," Patrick began with a smile. "Though it sounds like an excuse, the traffic was indeed the reason. To receive the award for Cindale’s Second Top Entrepreneur today, I want to thank one person—the most important person in my life. Without her, I wouldn't be standing here today..."Patrick spoke eloquently for several minutes before stepping down. He never mentioned the name of the person he was so grateful to, but Benjamin knew exactly who he meant. Because of Amanda’s formulas, Patrick’s business had skyrocketed this year.Benjamin felt
Cindy suddenly grinned and said, "I like muscular men."Calvin: "..."He couldn't help but ask, half-annoyed, "You woman... So, what Terry said about you hiding a bunch of photos of muscular men on your phone is actually true?"Cindy was stunned. Her face turned a deep shade of crimson, and she stammered, "D-did Terry... really tell you that?""Oh, every time he sees you hugging your phone, he gets worried that your soul is being lured away by those guys," Calvin teased, finding her reaction adorable. Her large almond eyes were wide with shock, and her lips were slightly parted, revealing her white teeth.Cindy: "..." That little brat just threw all my dignity out the window!"Ugh! That stinky boy! Next time I see him, I’m going to teach him a lesson. How could he blab about that?" Feeling utterly humiliated, she scrambled back inside, not daring to look Calvin in the eye.Calvin watched her scurry away and felt a strange tug of endearment in his heart.---At 4:00 AM, Tara’s surgery
