“So, Baby girl, I can’t take it anymore. Who’ll you please explain what happened the other day and why you had to leave home?” I look to Jack and then Anya, I see their worry and I let out a sigh. I have held back for long enough; they have been good to me and deserve to know the truth. “It’s a long, complicated and frankly unpleasant story to tell but you are my best and only friends, so I want to tell you about it.” They stare at me silently, for once not daring to interrupt. So, I tell them everything. The car accident, growing up with Terry, the attack at my flat and finally the conversation in the park. When I finish all of them are stunned and silent, so I take a moment to eat some more of my sandwich while I wait for them to process what I just told them. “Angel, are you serious?” I nod but otherwise don’t answer as I’m eating. “I don’t even know where to begin with all this.” I glance up and Jack is trembling with pent up anger and Anya looks on the brink of tears. “Yo
God, I missed her today. I never thought it would be possible for me to feel this way about a woman but something about her has captured me and I am more than willing to succumb to it. She looked so enchanting standing on the back porch when I got home. Just the simple act of her watching Lobo was endearing, and I felt happy to be home for the first time in a very long time. Now I couldn’t be more excited to spend the evening with her and our friends but as I move about my closet looking for something to wear, I notice something odd. There isn’t much here that she has added today, and Jeff didn’t report to me that there was anything that she wanted but put back so I’m curious about what she actually managed to buy. I did see the bags on the bed and a couple were large garment bags, but it was still a small amount of purchases compared to what my ex would’ve bought when given the chance. “Angel? Did you manage to find an outfit for Saturday in the end?” “Yeah.” She calls back but
Angel separates from me and stands to greet them. “Hi Jack, hi Annie. Simon, it’s been too long!” “Hey baby girl, we saw you just this morning.” “Yeah, I’ve reached my quota of Jack and Anya time today, but I still need some Simon time.” They chuckle and Simon looks torn between wanting to hug her and not being sure how she will react. She surprises everyone by hugging them both and a huge smile appears on Simons face. “Likewise, Angel face! I’ve missed you recently.” “Same. Come have a seat I will introduce you.” They stand before us and I stand to shake hands with them, Ellis does the same, but I notice his gaze keeps trailing back to Anya. Jack has bleached blonde hair with a blue streak through it. The top is long and flops into his eyes, dark thick eyebrows frame his hazel eyes that sparkle with mischief, and he is wearing a smart white shirt with black jeans. Simon has dark hair that is styled well. His chocolate brown eyes are kind, and he is wearing a blue shirt with b
I dance with my friends and for once I switch off my mind and simply enjoy the moment. The music is loud, the strobe lights cast rainbows around us, and the crush of bodies around me should set off my anxiety but Anya, Jack, and Simon are all ensuring no one is able to get too close. I nudge Jack to dance with Simon and the two of them begin dancing as if no one is watching making both Anya and I laugh. I continue moving my body to the beat but then I feel hands on my hips. As I turn to check who it is my blood runs cold as I come face to face with a strange male I have never met before. He isn’t ugly. He is about six feet tall, and his hair is dark in the club lights, so I assume his natural colour is either black or brown. His eyes are dark, and he has a broad nose and a prominent chin. He has a somewhat large frame that makes him look bulky and threatening. I smack his hand away and he smirks thinking I am merely playing hard to get. “Come on hunni, let’s dance, I know you want
Once done I clean up and head back to the main room. Grant is still up and looking at me with an eyebrow raised, I feel my cheeks flame as I make eye contact. “I woke up and didn’t want to disturb you so tried to reach the bathroom in the dark, but I stood on Lobo and well in the chaos ended up falling on my face.” He shakes his head, but he is smiling and as his shoulders begin shaking from his suppressed laughter, I also begin to see the funny side and laughter bubbles up inside me too. “I must say that after I put us to bed last night this wasn’t the scene I expected to wake up to. Hahahaha” Our laughter increases until I find myself doubled over with tears in my eyes. “S-stop, Stop I, I can’t, breathe, Hahahaha” “Hahahaha oh, Angel.” After about ten minutes we both finally calm down and I am able to continue my walk back to bed. As I climb in beside him, I glance at the clock and see that it is four in the morning. I sigh internally as I doubt, I will be able to fall back to
I have never felt so scared to wake up alone before. But when my alarm sounded, and I rolled over only to feel that the mattress was empty and cold my entire system was flooded with panic. I shot up out of the bed and frantically searched the bathroom and closet, but she wasn’t there. Rushing out of my room I called her name but there was also no answer. So, I rushed down the stairs and that’s when I caught the smell of food coming from the kitchen. The first feeling that hit me upon seeing her standing at the stove with a spatula in her hand and a pan on the hob was relief that she was still in my home. The next feeling that hit me was desire as I took notice that she was still only dressed in the t-shirt I changed her into when we got home from the club. I admit I was shocked when she fell asleep in my arms. It was only one in the morning and her insomnia has kept her up much later in the past. I made the decision to bring her back despite knowing that the others were going to
I look down and that’s when I see it, there is an image of a wing in the foam of my latte. I thought I was imagining it at first but now I know I wasn’t. she managed to replicate her signature latte that she makes at the café using the machine in my kitchen. “How do you manage to make this taste so unique?” “I really don’t know what you mean Grant.” Instead of answering her I stand and head to the coffee machine to make a latte. Once the machine is done, I take it to the table and take a sip. I can taste the difference, but I cannot decipher what it is. “Taste this and then taste yours and tell me what you think.” I push them both over to her and watch her face to see how she reacts. First, she sips mine and then she sips her one she made me. “What do you notice?” “Well, before I answer I have a question for you. Do you like both?” I nod, ordinarily I would make a latte the same way I just did and drink it without a second thought. “Which one do you like better?” “I admit I
I watch him leave and once he is past the gate, Jeff turns to me. “How may I be of service miss Angel?” “I have some errands to run today.” “When would you like to leave?” “I suppose sooner is better than later. I just need to grab my things.” “Very good Miss Angel, I shall fetch the car and wait here for you.” “Thank you, Jeff, I will be right back.” I head back inside and upstairs to fetch my phone, keys, and hoodie. Returning to the kitchen I place the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher and turn it on before leaving to meet with Jeff. “Where to first miss Angel?” He asks as I settle in the backseat after locking the door. “To my flat please, Jeff.” I give him the address and soon enough we are pulling up outside the building, but I find I am frozen in my seat as I stare at it. “Miss? Miss Angel, are you alright?” I can hear Jeff
