“What?”

The look of total and absolute shock on Chad's face makes her pause for a moment as she begins to feel silly even saying the words aloud. Clearly, the idea of her 'protecting' him has never crossed his mind.

When he recovers from his momentary surprise, he asks her, “Protect me from what?”

“Well you see, that can either be a really long answer or a really short answer, depending on what you want to know,” Lily tells him.

He gives her a stern look and says, “Long answer. I told you I want to know everything.”

“Then settle in because it is going to take a lo-o-o-ong while.”

Chad wiggles into the cushion a bit before he tells her, “I'm settled.”
