Chapter One

The first thing I heard was a beeping sound, so slow not regular and the sound kept giving me a headache.

I groaned and attempted to open my eyes and kept failing. Where the fuck am I??

I tried with my eyes again, and it turned blurry as what was in front of me was a big chair, occupied by someone, someone I cannot seem to see clearer.

Twitching my hand as the first movement I could feel I hear a heavy sound and the person who seemed to be beside me is up.

“Oh my goodness she is awake” I heard a loud shout followed by the stomping of feet and my eyes are opening a little as the image before started coming out clearer.

From the shadows that surrounds me in the bed, I felt the presence of so many people, the shout, and the happiness that came from them kept my ears on a bud.

“I cannot believe she is awake I told you she will not leave us” someone whose breath is on me, rather refreshing said as she leaned over her hands on my face.

“Are you okay? How are you feeling my baby” she said, touching my face smoothly as she runs her hand over.

I am still trying to peer my eyes at her, at them because they seem too much of a person in here.

The one who held my hand must have noticed as she turned to them.

“I think she needs space” immediately they all turned away from the bed murmuring loud, but they kept moving.

I sighed and held the bed as I trained sitting.

“Don't strain yourself Katherine the doctor will be here soon” someone said holding my shoulder in place less I make a movement.

Katherine?? Huhhhh?? What is she saying?? Who is Katherine??

Feeling more comfortable, I open my eyes and the image before me makes my head ache more. Who are they??

The woman who is holding my hand in place looks like she should be in her late 50s, with sharp eyes, and black hair tilted to her shoulder. Square jaw and the sharpest noise I've seen. Her eyes are dim as they stare at me back, little tears rolling down them,

I blink twice and stare at the next person. She is looking at me in awe while a mist of tears is surrounded her eyes.

“Katherine thank you so much for being alive” she dispatched and then held my hand as the tears fell.

She looks like the other woman only but the hair which she had dyed a little darker shade of red is the difference. Their faces are pale, and all of them.

I look to the side to see a mirror and I'm horrified as I stare at myself, my dark hair is now in masses of brown, my eyes which I'm starting at amber, and the skin on my body is so brown, a shade of peanut butter truffle.

I tried to touch my face, the oval shape of it sending me off, the oval face shape is longer than wide, with a jaw that is narrower than the cheekbones. I almost look too beautiful for words. My lips are so pink amiable and almost too enticing, my noise pointy and sharp with the perfect jawline. My eyes are big with the flawless long lashes that adorned my face. I look so beautiful, too beautiful.

Still buzzing in the confusion that surrounds me and what I'm doing in a hospital filled with strangers and why the hell they are calling me Katherine. I am about to open my mouth to speak my thoughts when the door opened.

“Thank God the Doctor is here, do you think she is okay? She keeps looking at everyone strangely” The woman said, holding on to her chest as the Doctor came beside me,

They all scouted away from the bed but still in visible vision staring at the Doctor as he did his thing.

He had a smile all through, the grayish of his eyes pinned on me as he checks my heart rate and whatever it is he is doing.

“How do you feel Miss Katherine??” He asks me touching my forehead.

“Ummm” I cleared my throat, “I think I'm fine??” I tried shrugging but winced instead.

“Do you feel pain? What sort of pain???” He rushes to ask and then shook his hand and someone handed a paper to him.

The thoughts and confusion in my head ran through me as I let my eyes run down on the hospital room.

The place is richin fact, expensive. From the way the beds are placed and the white decorations to the sweet scent of lavender that fills my nostrils. The massive bed I am sitting on and the television that hung on the wall close to the painting, this is a suite, a hospital suite.

“Miss Katherine, are you here with us??” He peered down at me, his eyes asking me questions.

“Sure umm just my shoulder?? A little sharp pain there” I told him, and he nodded, writing something down on the papers.

He handed it back to the Nurse in white and then stared at me.

“Well for starters, you are doing so much better after surviving such a tragic event, now you don't have to worry about anything else and all you need is a slow recovery,” He said with a smile rounded on his face before he turned around to the others.

I couldn't make out what he said and just stared into spaces as they spoke.

Kenny couldn't have spent money taking me to this sort of place, where the hell did he get the money from??

“I'm glad to hear that Doctor” I face them “thank you very much” he nodded and bowed to the woman before he disappeared from the room.

They both came back to my face grinning at me with so much love highlighted on their cheeks.

I blinked and blinked again. It's been so long since anyone stared at me with nothing but love written in their eyes, it's been so very long since I have seen this sort of look, and now I'm getting it from strangers.

“Hey honey the Doctor said you will be alright, and you don't have to worry about anything until you make full recovery” The woman was back on the big scooter seat as she said to me and the little version of her nodded.

“Sister Katherine, you will be alright the Doctor assured us,” the little version of the woman said, and I nodded to the both of them.

As we sat there quietly afterward I knew there were thoughts, things that plague my mind, and until I have them answered I will not be able to feel more comfortable.

“How did I get here??” I asked looking at the older lady.

“Oh Kate” she cried out making her chair push closer to the bed “I don't know how to explain this, but I should have known it was inevitable” She cried out more holding my hands.

I looked up at the girl, and she is drying her eyes from the tears that have fallen so.

“We should have known and trusted your words, sis,” she said

“Know what?? Trusted what??” Impatient I snapped asking them.

The woman cleared her throat drying the tears that fall down.

“He is an imbecile that doesn't deserve you my dear, and it's better off said” she nodded towards the younger one.

“I want to know” I stated firmly.

“If you insist” the girl whom I haven't been able to learn her name yet said “he sent assassins to kill you sis” she spat while a shout of outcry came from the woman.

I tensed looking up at her “Who??”

“Your husband, Damien Anderson” She blurted.
