Chapter Twenty-three

DAMIEN

She drew in a hard breath as I can see her struggling to get a hold of herself.

“It's me” I repeated like she hadn't heard it for the first time

I could have gone on to the person she was standing with, but there was this need and urgency that came with her and I decided against it

“Are you alright? Are you okay?” I couldn't hold myself and asked her.

She opened her eyes and nodded, but the fear was still there, the fear that that person had installed on her is still very much there

“I'm much better,” She said, wiping a few tears that fell from her eyes.

She looked tired, the makeup on her face was still shining, but she suddenly looked so exhausted

As we stood there, I thought of asking her who that was and what he wanted, but I know better than anyone that this wasn't the right there

“Let's get out of here,” I said to her and once she stepped in front of me I looked behind me to see if I could still sight the person, but he was already long gone
