Aleah woke up feeling an arm wrapped around her. When she opened her eyes, she saw Hunter's sleeping face. Shocked, she pushed him away, causing him to fall off the bed. Hunter woke up, equally surprised, and looked at her.

“You---- How could you take advantage of me while I was sleeping? You're not just an Icy Demon Alpha, you're also a perv---” Aleah's words were cut off as Hunter stood up.

“What a nice way to say thank you after I lent you my arms while you cried in your sleep.” Aleah froze, realizing what she had done. In her shock, she had pushed him off the bed.

“You didn’t do anything?” she asked.

“I am not desperate to take advantage of a child,” he said coldly. “My arms are numb, you ungrateful child.”

“Child?” Aleah said in disbelief. “Did you just call me a child?”

“It’s just us in this room. Who else would it be?” Hunter replied.

“You….” Aleah said angrily, throwing a pillow at him. With quick reflexes, Hunter caught the p

Not because of me nor to this freak! You're an Icy Alpha. You are supposed to be cold and uninterested in anyone. I am scared. But what I am scared about the most is being a burden to anyone. Please. Don't allow him to treat you this way. And not because of me. I would rather fall than—" Aleah's words were abruptly cut off as another chain attached to the crane broke. I need you to grab the test results from forensics—the one for the new case we're working on. It’s important.”Trisha nodded and headed off without hesitation. Hunter watched her leave for a moment before focusing back on the task at hand.Yesterday, he’d been pulled into an emergency meeting with the Alpha King and Navy Vice Admiral. It had been about the chilling discovery of street kids’ bodies in an abandoned building. The Vice Admiral thought the case tied into Hunter’s earlier work involving the Iron Maiden and a band of pirates.Months ago, Hunter had been sent undercover to an island suspected of being the pirates’ lair. It turned out to be much more than that. The island, dubbed “Death Island,” was actual
