"Finally, you made it!" Claire exclaimed, her face lighting up as she greeted Aleah at the church entrance. As Aleah came closer, Claire pulled her into a tight hug. "I was starting to think you'd skip my invitation again. You were this close to making me sulk," she teased.

"Sorry, I’ve been swamped," Aleah said sheepishly. Two years had passed since Claire and Rafael tied the knot, and more than two years since Hunter had been gone. Life had moved on. Rafael had climbed the ranks and was now a Major. After two years of married bliss, Claire and Rafael welcomed a healthy baby boy into their lives. They’d asked Aleah to be one of his godmothers. The church was filled with familiar faces too—members of the old Task Force Wolf who were also godparents to the couple’s firstborn.

"Well, look who decided to show up," Michael chimed in with a grin as Aleah walked in. "You’ve been ghosting us for two whole years," he joked. Being part of Hunter’

Aleah leaned against the wall outside the courtroom, watching the crowd spill out after the trial. She spotted a couple of reporters chatting as they walked past. One of them, not too discreetly, said, “Man, Dennis Espinosa is something else. He completely nailed it in there! The way he defended his client—what a pro.”Hearing that, Aleah couldn’t help but smile. It had only been two years since Dennis graduated from law school. He crushed the bar exam right after and, boom, he’s already running his own firm. What’s even more impressive? Most of his clients are people who could never afford a top-notch lawyer otherwise. People respect him not just for his skill but for his heart. Oh, and let’s not forget—he’s easy on the eyes. The kind of guy who, if he were a celebrity, would have fans swooning at every trial.Aleah had sat in on the trial earlier too. She had to admit, watching Dennis in action was something else

Aleah got dropped off by a teenage boy right in front of the house she had been looking for. As she stood outside, she could hear loud voices and banging coming from inside. She glanced around—there were plenty of neighbors nearby, but none seemed to care. It was as if all that noise was just part of their everyday life. Was this what those women she met earlier were hinting at?She was about to step closer to the house when, out of nowhere, a young woman in a jacket burst through the door. She was in such a rush that she didn’t even notice Aleah and slammed right into her. They both fell hard to the ground, and for a second, they just stared at each other, startled. The young woman looked even more surprised to see Aleah."Lea, get back here!" shouted a woman who followed her out of the house. The moment she heard her mother’s voice, the young woman scrambled up and bolted, not even bothering to apologize to Aleah."Wait! Hold on!" Aleah called afte

Over the years, however, he displayed good behavior while in prison, which led to his release after serving ten years.Aleah’s attention was caught by the news of the man’s release. In two days, the suspect would regain his freedom, and this was the reason behind Lea’s unease.“Why is Lea r

"Zen!!" Aleah jolted awake, gasping. Her eyes darted around the room—empty except for her and the stacks of case files she'd been reading. She rubbed her temples, realizing she'd fallen asleep while going through Lea's case. Her gaze landed on the papers, but her heart felt heavier than her tired eyelids. Had she been crying in her dream? The memory of it washed over her like a tide."Stupid Alpha," she whispered bitterly, tears welling up. "You came back, but why only in my dreams?""You really have no problem calling me stupid these days, huh?" came a familiar voice, rich with teasing warmth. "Looks like you’ve picked up cursing while I was away."Aleah whipped her head toward the sound. There he stood on the terrace, framed by the soft light spilling into her room. Her breath caught, and she blinked several times, unsure if her mind was playing tricks on her."Why are you staring at me like that? You’re not dreaming anymore, Aleah." His voice

"Did he leave… again?” The girl bolted upright, her heart racing as she stared at the empty room. She wasn’t imagining things—she knew she’d spoken to him last night. Throwing the blanket aside, she hurried to the closet. No sign of him there either. But the black jacket hanging neatly inside was proof—he was here. It wasn’t a dream.“Did he really leave?” she muttered, frustration spilling into her voice as she marched out of the room and headed downstairs. She came to a sudden stop mid-step, her nose catching the unmistakable aroma of breakfast being prepared. Her ears tuned in to faint sounds of movement coming from the kitchen.Could he really be…? Her pulse quickened, excitement bubbling up as she tiptoed the rest of the way. Peeking through the doorway, she froze. There he was, the Alpha she never thought capable of such things, wearing an apron and cooking like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"Seatbelt,” Hunter said, his voice firm but low. Without waiting for her to react, he leaned over, grabbed the seatbelt, and clicked it into place. The warmth of his hand sent a jolt through Aleah, and she couldn’t help but freeze in surprise. Her cheeks flamed, and for a second, she forgot how to breathe. Did he just—?Hunter settled back into his seat like nothing happened, his attention already on the road as he started driving. “So, tell me about this case,” he said, his tone casual yet curious. “Why does it matter so much to you? And what’s with the whole ‘worrying about what she might do’ thing?”Hunter and Aleah pulled up outside the correctional facility, just as Leah’s mother’s ex-husband walked out through the gate. Aleah spotted Leah right away, crouched behind a car with her hood up, gripping a knife.“What is she thinking?!” Aleah muttered under her breath. Her heart sank

Hunter glanced up at Aleah, a bit of curiosity in his voice. “Wait… so they’re not really related by blood?”“Nope,” Aleah replied, settling beside him on the bed as he flipped through Lea’s case files. “Lea said her mom’s ex-husband isn’t her real dad. Her mom married the guy after her actual dad bailed—like, a year after she was born.”Hunter nodded slowly, processing. “So, this guy… he raised her?”“Yeah. He’s the only dad she’s ever known,” Aleah said. “And he was great to her. Gave her everything she wanted, maybe even too much attention… you know?”Hunter raised an eyebrow. “Too much attention?”Aleah hesitated but pressed on. “They thought it was normal at first. He just seemed like a dad who really cared. But then, when she was eight, things… changed.”Hunter frowned. “What ha

Aleah couldn’t shake off the uneasy feeling gnawing at her. She had told Lea to stay safe, but something didn’t sit right. What if Lea didn’t listen? What if she went looking for him? Or worse—what if he came looking for Lea? Now that he was out of jail, anything felt possible, and Aleah couldn’t ignore the knot in her stomach.By the time she reached Lea’s place, Aleah overheard a couple of women chatting at a nearby sari-sari store. “You know,” one of them said, “last night there were loud banging noises coming from their house—middle of the night, too.” She shrugged. “But you know how it is. That house is always noisy. Roman’s usually drunk and fighting with her.”“Yeah,” the other one chimed in. “But it’s weird. The house has been quiet since last night. "You’re being reckless again,” Hunter said, pushing himself off the hospital bed and letting go of Aleah’s hand. “You’re shaking, but here you are, worrying about everyone else’s safety instead of your own.”Aleah didn’t reply, but Hunter could see it—she was scared, terrified even. Yet, knowing her as well as he did, he knew she’d never ignore the injustices she witnessed.“What the hell are you doing? Get over here already!” the armed man barked at Aleah, his patience wearing thin. Aleah glanced at him briefly, then turned back to Hunter. The tension in the room was palpable; everyone inside seemed to be holding their breath.“Rafael, are you hearing me?” Hunter said into the device clipped to his ear. Everyone in the emergency room—doctors, patients—turned their heads in shock at the deafening sound of a gunshot. All eyes shifted to the glass door just as a security guard collapsed outside. Moments later, a man in tactical gear stormed in, dragging another guard who was clearly his hostage. The room froze. Nurses and patient companions panicked, racing toward the door leading to another section of the hospital. But their escape was short-lived as more men blocked the exits, forcing everyone back. With every way out sealed, tension filled the air.“If you don’t want this to be your last day alive, you’ll do exactly as we say,” the masked man barked. His grip on the hostage tightened as he scanned the terrified crowd. “Nobody leaves until we get what we came for. Got it? And to prove we mean business...watch this.”Without hesitation, he jammed a syringe into the neck of the hostage. The guard's eyes widened in terror a

Claire blurted, panic creeping into her voice."Let’s go check," Aleah said, already getting out of the car. Claire followed quickly. It had been about the chilling discovery of street kids’ bodies in an abandoned building. The Vice Admiral thought the case tied into Hunter’s earlier work involving the Iron Maiden and a band of pirates.Months ago, Hunter had been sent undercover to an island suspected of being the pirates’ lair.
