CHAPTER 5
__________
MARIAH
I looked up into the eyes of my father as he came walking in through the front door, his face gleaming with excitement.I squealed with excitement as I stumbled down the short passage and into his arms, he caught me with his ease....he always did."Hello Papa" I said in my baby voice, I was only 5 years old at the time. still the only child and the apple of my fathers eye.
"Hello baby. Where your mama?" He asked placing me on his hip as he walked further into our small house and to the main room."Hey, hunny" my father greeted, his face still young with age as he smiled widely. I always loved his smile, because it showed how happy he was."Hello, I'm glad your back" my mother said walking to my father and giving him and bug hug and a kiss making me squeal in disgust.
My mother looked at me with a funny face and pulled my face to hers and kissed me.My father was still smiling as he watched our exchange, his eyes bright with fondness.I love you both so much, he had said after that. And my mother and I laughed as we gave him endless hugs and kisses. That was when my mother noticed the bag in my fathers other hand and looked up at him with wonder.
"What have you got there?" She teased as he walked me to the bed and sat me down, smiling all the way as he have my mother a look."So I stopped by the market before coming home and decided to buy us a treat since business has been so good" he said pulling out the strange looking fruits. One for each of us. My mother clapped her hand excitedly as she quickly took one and showed it to me.
"This, baby, is a peach. Here take bite and tell me if you like it" she said placing the fruit in my hands.I looked up at my father and mother with wonder before taking a big bite out of the soft delicacy.
---•---•---
I woke up with my a pain in my arm, just the same as the day before.I didn't understand what was happening or where I was as I glanced around the room, but then it all came flooding back to me.The porridge, the sandwich, the pasta ... the peach and the king.I sat up and looked around the room, surprised to see that it was empty. Or so I thought until I saw a dark shadow in the corner of the room. I looked up to see the king, sitting in the corner of the room watching me with dark eyes. As my eyes met his he grimaced and stood up, walking towards me.
"Why didn't you tell me? What didn't you tell the maids?" He asked lowly sitting at the foot of the bed. I looked up at him in fear before stuttering out a reply."F-forgive me, your highness, but-but I did try to tell you" my voice was hoarse from the pain in my throat as I turned to reach for the glass of water placed on the table beside the bed.He nodded his head and stood up. His regretful appearance now gone as he seemed to come to terms that he didn't actually care for me.
"Make a list of things you are allergic to and give it to one of the maids. After that you will follow her down to the kitchen were you will be working from now on" he said and just as he spoke the door opened and a man walked in."Your majesty" the man said as he bowed, "I'm here to check on the girl". The king nodded his head before allowing the man to come toward me with medical tools and supplies all in a box.
"Good afternoon, young lady" the man said with a smile. " you were out quite a while, almost made me scared you wouldn't wake up" he joked making me laugh a little, but the king didn't seem to find the joke as amusing as I did, when he let out a low threatening growl. The doctor paled and proceeded to check my pulse and my throat before feeling my forehead for a fever and my hands for any signs of swelling.
Once he was done he smiled and wrote a few notes on the clipboard. " well. You seem to be doing just fine, little lady. But I do suggest drinking a lot of water and fruit juice. You lost a lot of liquids during the process of extracting the content of your stomach so your extremely dehydrated. " the doctor said kindly before exiting the room. The king followed shortly after but not before reminding me to give the maid the list and then follow her.
He left me piece of parchment and a little but of ink on a pen, I wasn't allergic to much, just all some fruit. My mother had told me it came from my father's side of the family, but the funny thing is that my father had told me the same thing about her. After my first reaction with the peach and my second one with a plum I never had one again, I kept far away from all exotic fruit sticking strictly to apples, bananas and oranges, until now . My parents kept me far from any fruit of the sort that they thought I could be allergic to and even the ones I wasn't.
After the first scare they became a lot more paranoid.
"My baby, my baby" my mothers wails broke though the endless black of my unconsciousness. My eyes cracked opened as o saw my father holding my mother in my arms with tears in his eyes.
"What's wrong with Mama, Papa?" I asked groggily as I sat up slowly. His eyes went wide as he saw me awake and pulled me into a tight hug, mama hanging not even a second later.
"Oh my baby." My father said sadly, "Papa is so sorry, it's his fault you got sick" he said kissing my forehead tenderly. That was when I noticed that I wasn’t in my room, or even my house. I recognized the room as the one in the village hospital and I began to wonder what had happened.
"Mama? Papa? Why are we at the hospital?" I asked as I saw the needle in my arm. My bottom lip quivered as I try to pull it out but my father stopped me telling me not to touch it. I remember crying for hours a night the needle until one if the nurse came and took it out for me.
I cried for another hour that as well. And that was how I found out about my allergy to peaches.
Chapter 24_______Third person Point of ViewMariah woke up again to her body being lifted up gently. She opened her eyes and saw that she was near a river."We are just stopping for a rest. There is another 2 days journey before we reach Venice." The merchanter said."Why are we going to Venice?" Mariah asked timidly and the merchanter almost felt sorry for the little girl. She was clearly still young."what's your name, little one?" The merchanter asked her. He did not seem like a bad guy and Mariah was hopeful that he would send her back. Although she was not on good terms with the king, at least she was safe with him."My name is Mariah Castello...."The merchanter hummed quietly in acknowledgment before quickly setting to work on making a fire. He would have to stop for some supplies in a nearby village before he could continue with his journey. He bent down by the rivers bend and filled up
Chapter 23________Third povIt felt like she was floating, floating amidst the clouds on a peaceful and colourful day. She felt so happy. She looked around her and saw nothing but the blue of the sky and the white of the fluffy balls around her. She was in the sky. The sun was not shining brightly and she could see perfectly and everything was warm.Unable to stop herself, Mariah began to laugh hysterically. She was now a cloud, flying and floating and free. She felt so content. But in the next second, it felt like she was being ripped from the sky and forced down to the Earth again. She was disorientated by the whiplash motion of being tugged viciously from her peaceful cloud back to the hell that was Earth. The impact was brutal. She felt every single second of the collision and she opened her eyes groggily yet unable to actually move. She felt stiff, as if she were a statue instead of a human. She laid still and silent as the tear
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟎 ______ 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐃 𝐏𝐎𝐕 Over the next few days Mariah did little else but wonder the halls of the castle. The King had left on a short one day business trip with Jessebelle and would be back in the night time. Mariah had a sour look on her face all morning after the King had informed her. She wished she could control her jealous thoughts, but she couldn't. She just felt angry and upset. She was foolish to let herself believe that after her last intimate moment with the King he would be more attentive with her, she was ofcourse wrong. He had went back to his ways of ignoring her presence and only caring that she was close enough for him to sense her. That was all he wanted, to ensure she was safe. While walking through the fifth floor, she was not watching her surroundings or taking in where she was or where she was going, causing her to bump into someone. She fell back on her butt and looked up w
CHAPTER 21 MARIAH The days became monotnous and repetitive as the King prepared for the official announcement of his engagement to the Princess, Jessabelle. After previous encounter with the Princess our paths never crossed again, mostly due to the fact that I now chose to reside in the comfort of either my room or the Kings... but that does not mean that I don't feel her heated and hateful glare from across the table every dinner time, as if I had done something to offend her. Lylah had been sent away to her boarding school, where she would stay for a short 2 weeks before coming back to the castle to continue with her private studies. I was not sure why the King had sent her away in the first place but she was more than happy ot get out of the castle for a little while, but only after making me promise to keep her kitten, Winter, safe. As if Lylah being gone was not bad enough, I found out a few
CHAPTER 20 _____ MARIAH The princess was more beautiful than i could have thought possible. I sat quietly at the breakfast table somewhere near the middle while the King sat at the head with the princess by his side. I was offered the seat to his other side, but how could I take it? How could I willingly sit there knowing what people would think of me? It was humiliating to say the least. I kept my head down and did not bother paying attention to the chatter around me, focusing solely on playing with the food in front of me. I was uncomfortbale and I could not shake the awful feeling that lingered and festered in my gut. The terrible feeling only grew the more the King spoke to his future wife. She was kind. When the King greeted her at the door with me by his side, she smiled and greeted me kindly but I could not muster the same enthusiasm to meet her. The King could sense my resignantion and try to ask me if i was okay, but how could
CHAPTER 19MARIAHIt was a few hours before the King finally came to the room and when he did I could feel the anger raditating off of him. I gasped with fear as I saw the blood staining his hands and clothes but he said nothing to me as he walked past heading for the bathroom.I gulped in fear unable to look away from the bathroom door for the longest time. I was worried. Why was he angry? Where had the blood come from? What did the councilman say that had made him so upset? All these questions continued to whirl through my head until eventually the door opened and the King walked out."Mariah" he said slowly as if trying to find a way to formulate the words in his mind. " What happened?" I asked him, the uneasy feeling back and stronger than ever. What would happen to me if the King married another woman? Even the mere though caused a great ache in my chest, my heart breaking in t
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 18𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐇I moaned as the King continued to pleasure me, feeling myself coming close and closer to my orgasm. The King growled lowly, creating small vibrations against my clit. My breathing became shorter and I couldn't contain my myself as my moans became louder. JustJust as I felt reach my peak, the King pulled away spanking me again. Tears of frustration filled my eyes as I looked up at him in shock. He smirked down at me pressing a kiss against the small of my back."Go to your room and change, my love." he commanded me lowly but I could hardly hear his words over my surprise. The intense feeling was still present in my core and all I wanted to do was touch myself. As if reading my mind, the King warned "Don't you dare touch yourself, Mariah". I gulped and nodded slowly, looking at him with sad eyes as I stood to my feet. The King watched as I quickly left his office and walked down the steps
CHAPTER 17__________ELIJAHMy mind was reeling after leaving Mariah asleep in our room. It was all happening so quickly yet not quickly enough at the same time. I had come to accept that Mariah was my mate, it was impossible to deny now, especially after last night.I walked through the hallways of the castle to my office where Aldridge already stood to attention waiting patiently. "Good morning, my lord. " he said, bowing as I walked past. I nodded in reply before pushing open the office door and moving to sit in my seat, Aldridge stood waiting on the opposite end of the desk."You have 2 meetings today, my lord as well as a few documnets regarding the education plan for the children over the next few years. " he informed placing the documents on my table but before he could continue I raised my hand, silencing him."She is my soul mate, Aldridge" I said simply knowing he would understand. Aldridge seemed surprised for a second befor
Chapter 16_______MariahI groaned as I stretched out across the soft bed, my body aching. My eyes fluttered open and I sitffled a yawn as I tried to turn my body around, but couldn't move. The King's arms were wrapped around my body protectively, holding me tightly to his chest as he slept.I blushed, my cheeks burning brightly as memories of last night flooded back. All I could think about was the feeling, it was indescribable pleasure. I smiled brightly, energy seeming to course through me as I tried to turn to face the King, Elijah. I gasped in surprised as I saw his dark green eyes already staring down at me.He stared at me with no expression, but his eyes spoke volumes. Adoration swam through them as I smiled up at him. "Good morning, my King" I said softly leaning my head against his chest. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to my neck, making me moan soflty as his tongue brushed over his mark."Good morning, little one
