Chapter 46 – Hindrance

Slowly, he approached her and crouched to her level. He reached out to remove the blanket but she kept ahold of it.

“Alice…” His voice was very gentle.

He tried again when she didn’t respond. She tightened her grip on it, not wanting to see him. Conrad gritted his teeth before forcefully tugging it off her. She turned and hid her face on the bed, refusing to let him see. She also used her hands to hide from his gaze.

“I’m sorry.” He has no words. He racked his brain. What the heck did he say earlier for her to react like this?

He began to caress her arm, comforting her.

“I didn’t mean what I said…” Whatever it was…
