“Let go of me!” My teeth are gritted as he locks a door behind me.

I don’t know where we are. A small room, dark and cold, but I see him clearly, and he sees me.

Nathan doesn’t let go of my arm; his grip tightens.

Almost too tight.

“Fucking let go of me!”

“Then what?” he roars. The calmness disappears, his eyes are now flashing a subtle red, and hot breaths fall from his nostrils.

But he’s right. Then what.

I’d just watched a brutal scene play out in front of me, yet I couldn’t do anything. Godd

My heart races, but I don’t let it become obvious. I try yanking my arm away from his hold, but to no avail.“Fucking let go of me.”Ballard does the opposite. His grip tightens as he nears me even more, leaving only a few inches between my head and his chest.I take a step back, staring into his blazing gaze.“Not until you tell me what I need to know.” His voice is eerily calm. What does he know? For all the time I’ve been here, he’s never acted this way. Yes, he’d tossed my medical amenities out of the window, poured gravy all over me and cursed me every minute he could get.But this t

  • Beneath The Mask Of Vengeance   Chapter 22

RENNAI groan as a skull-wrecking ache settles in my head the moment my eyes blink open. I sit upright, rubbing my temples, but nothing helps. It doesn’t take long for me to realise I’m back in the round, beige-themed room of the Mortimers’ residence, fully clothed. I don’t remember how I got here, but the events of last night are fresh in my memory. The incident with the vial, the miserable burning sensation all over my body and, goddess… how only one person could quench the heat in me.I struggled and fought to hide my nakedness from him, but my own body betrayed me in ways I would never have imagined, pushing me towards him like a magnet despite my battle against whatever force it was.I pleaded for him to touch m

A mistake.Something is wrong somewhere. Mates are rarely heard of, even from previous generations. We’ve all come to the conclusion that it’s a sham to keep wolves hoping for some silly fairytale endings in a worthless world. And the ones who claim to meet their mates – well, probably some sort of psychosis.I want to believe it’s a hoax. It has to be, but my wolf coils like a starving pup from within me, and her scent is stronger than anything I’ve ever perceived.Sweeter. Alluring. It’s at the forefront of my thoughts. But even if she were to be my mate, I should’ve known from the very moment I lifted her out of the fountain, or from the other presumptuous encounters we’ve had.I don’t notice when I stop walking after her.To chase after Bambi in blue or not.My wolf screams at me to walk behind her, grab her and bury my snout in her neck as I inhale every bit of this scent driving me mad until I burn through that spot, but Nathan… The old logical Nathan wants to understand whateve

  • Beneath The Mask Of Vengeance   Chapter 20

NATHANThe screams of agony bounce against the empty warehouse. Fuck, I hate this.Fucking hate the gurgling sounds they make when their mouths are filled with their blood and the way they stare at me? Like I’m some sort of evil maniac when it’s all their fault. It’s their fucking fault for seeking futile revenge rather than killing themselves the very minute they’re conscious of the abomination that they are.A hybrid? Wolf and human?Really? After what the humans did to us a hundred years back?I dig the knife straight into his thigh. It passes through his bone and surfaces on the other side. Even their bones are as soft as a velvet cake.Cake. Velvet. His piercing screams distract me from the sweet thought of velvet cake. I need to wrap this up; I don’t have all the time to waste.I’d rather spend my time having a smoke in my butterfly conservatory than in this dust-ridden warehouse.“Goddess, fuck!” he cries, shivering like a fucking wet dog. “I’ve told you I was merely following

I cut my gaze away from Boaz as my breath falls heavily.Think of anything…Anything else. I try to distract my thoughts, to take my mind off the vial, the Lunathra and goddess, anything to escape the sweet, agonising pain settling in my core. But I fail. It's impossible to think of anything else when my body is burning up.The full moon reflects against a small pond of water near me, glistening across the scales of the exotic koi fishes swimming in it. Goddess, I envy them. How I wish I could be in that pond, cooling off this intense heat.“Celeste, I…” I swallow, raking my hands through my neck. “...have to go.”Celeste grabs hold of my arm, looks up to the moon, then gasps.“I recognise these symptoms.”“Wha–what?” I try to jerk free, but she holds me tighter, her eyes widening in awe.“You…”I don't let her talk. With all the strength my frail body can summon, I drag my arm away and run as fast as I can. Away from her.“Renna!” She's calling after me, but I ignore her.I can't tur

A gasp escapes me as I whip around. The hand slides down from my eyes, and I’m met with bright eyes and a wide smile. The girl.“You’ve found me, yay!” Her fingers ease the glass from my hands. “Took you so long, though.”“You…”“Yes, me.” The corner of her lips tucks into a smirk. “Your long-lost best friend, Renna.”My hands find her arm before I can think straight, dragging her out of the Crown Hall. I don’t know where I’m taking her, but anywhere away from the sharp ears of these wolves.Away from whoever Genevieve has planted this time.Surprisingly, she doesn’t resist. Finally, we’re in a field closer to the forest and away from the main building. I let go of her arm.She flicks it slightly with a pout on her lips. “For a small body like yours, you’re stronger than I expected.”“What’s your deal?”She laughs. “You’re not even going to pretend?”“There’s no point in that. What do you want?”If she knows the real Renna, then what good would it do me to beat around the bush? Beside
